The Jury should be arrested
what backwards country is this? Should have asked for a bench trial
And the OP went right back to being a doormat
WHERE'S THE PROOF OF HIS PROMISE FOR THE ALLOWANCE???????
How the f can this be court. This is just so unfair. With this kind of jury getting justice is impossible
The Jury is absolutely ridiculous. They want you to pay money to ungrateful people who have made his father pay for years to get back on their feet? Ever since OP was a child?
This can’t have possibly have been in the U.S. (I know it’s a story ) but just an fyi, any agreements, promises, contracts made by/with the deceased ends with their death. It does not pass on to the heir UNLESS it is in Writing. Ergo, OP is not obligated to continue his father’s helpful handouts as it is His money now, Not his father’s. These “trials” were a waste of time and money.
Is this a family drama or a soap opera audition, lol This plot's thicker than grandma's gravy on Thanksgiving
I would've just moved the money to my bank account dun😂
The grandparents are okay but the cousins aren't, because the grandparents need the money to be able to live while the cousins can easily get a job and stop being lazy
That's the stupidest fucking jury ever anyone with common Sense can give better verdict than the jury
WTF?! That ending was BULLSHIT!
As OP said unfortunately in civil suits with a jury trial arguing feelings is just as if not more so important than arguing facts. It's why the lawyer for the family requested a jury trial so they could play on the heart strings of the jury with "without that money how are they supposed to eat and pay rent?" If it was a bench trial I don't know if it even would have lasted an hour as long as there was no written agreement between the dad and the family on payments. Assets go to the son minus any debts deducted fulfilling any obligation of payment.
Dont bother guys this reprobate forgave his family and kept paying his grandparents monthly after his cousins put him through court, he lost the case and had to pay 2400$, 600$ for 4 months. After the he just kept them in his life, what a tool!
Stupid jury.
The fact OP could hold a cordial and civil conversation with the cousin after that is baffling. Even more so that they tried talking to OP hoping for more money. I wouldn't have done it. My response would have been this.
Nahhh bro got brainwashed he shouldve gone to higher court to sue them so hard they cant even live anymore
Your lawyer should have argued that they caused him stress from working 3 jobs to support all of them for year's including himself and you. Plus his bank statements should have been enough proof that he's been paying for way to long and they were abusing that.
What surprises me the most is how OP's judge didn't argue about the evidence for OP's dad's promise. Honestly, though, that jury souldn't be a jury. THIS is exactly the reason why they say that the law is blind, and it should be. The law shouldn't depend upon sentiments and emotions, but facts and proofs and evidence.
I mean the court never said OP had to pay the amount they were previously paying so they could have just payed like 50 bucks
