  • 'I didn't get a yellow...' Arteta defends his VAR rant, hours after Ange Postecoglou got booked.
Mikel Arteta has doubled down on his comments after Arsenal 's defeat to Newcastle on Saturday, saying it was his duty to defend the club.
Arteta had described Anthony Gordon 's winner as 'embarrassing' and a 'disgrace' in his post-match media duties on Saturday.
And then on Sunday, the North London club strongly backed him, releasing a statement in which they said the loss involved 'yet more unacceptable refereeing and VAR errors', adding that the Premier League 'deserve better'.
Gary Neville had called the criticism from Arsenal and Arteta 'dangerous' and said they risked 'undermining the refereeing community, but Arteta was defiant.
He said: 'It is my duty to stand in front of the cameras and give a very clear and honest assessment of what happens in the game. This is what I did.
'Reflect very openly how I felt the team played and how the game was conditioned by the decisions that were made.

What do you think of Arteta's points about VAR?

Hes not just supporting his club by doing this.. he's supporting the league. The people running var are not using it correctly. Change must happen, and it starts like this, by speaking out.

You should see what he said about Liverpool's var farce before saying anything. Hypocrisy at its best.

@tilakbhandari8503 no you are the one being a misinformed hypocrite. I am well versed in what was ACTUALLY said by arteta about Liverpool. You should look up the actual facts, instead of being part of the problem!! Mikel fully supported Liverpool against spurs. The whole thing about "mistakes happen" has been taken out of context, by people with an agenda to disrupt instead of unite. Mikel wasn't justifying the var decision by saying humans make mistakes, he was calling for world cup style hawkeye and semi automated offsides to eliminate the human error.
Get your facts right, otherwise this situation won't improve for any team. We all must stand together to overcome the lazy and incompetent pgmol. Their aim is to keep us divided so they can shut us all up and never change

@@gmg96 in no way arteta or ange supported Liverpool then. You are just ignorant as they are. If you want to solve the problem first stop being a hypocrite yourself.

@tilakbhandari8503 i just typed a whole message about you being a misinformed parrot and are being part of the problem by spreading misinformation, but for some reason it never posted.... what you have said is wrong and misinformed. Below this comment I will post a link to a screenshot and it has all the evidence needed to prove what you've said is wrong!!! However, I think posting this link is what keeps deleting my message. So if the link does not post, then look it up online what arteta ACTUALLY said to DEFEND and SUPPORT liverpool. Instead of continuing to be a misinformed parrot by spreading misinformation that arteta didn't support liverpool. It makes you look foolish
Do you want poor decisions to keep happening to liverpool, or any team, and continue to corrupt the league for every team participating in it?! If the answer is no, then stop being a fool. Do the right thing and stand up for what is right. Just like Arsenal did for liverpool, and is currently also trying to do for themselves and the rest of the league.

@tilakbhandari8503 yes it keeps deleting the link. But if you would like to stop being misinformed, the article I am referring to is from 2nd Oct from the mirror. Just type into Google "arteta defends liverpool" and click on the mirror article dated 2nd Oct and you have all the evidence you need to show arteta backed you, he didn't downplay the issue or tell liverpool to deal with it, like lots of liverpool fans keep wrongly claiming

Fully support what he is trying to achieve here. Others will try to put this in a drawer but it needs to be openly and honestly discussed. I read reports of how much better Big Ange came across better than Arteta last night. Well, that was easy for him, in all the decisions in his game, nothing was as big an issue as a goal being given that was not a goal, the only goal. All clear decisions correctly given, no complaints. A different character but such comparisons in different scenarios are just cheap headlines, no proper effort put in from such journos. Year 9 English class.

There’s less pressure at a club whose last trophy was 25 years ago, and a minor one at that

He definitely didn’t lose his head, and he definitely wasn’t livid, and hysterical. No way he was out of control. No one would say that. He was just trying to improve the game for everyone.

Just watch Arsenal drop points simply for losing focus.. when you start the roller coaster of blaming others rather than just playing better, it permeates and distracts..

no he didnt. i support him and the premier league, officials are making too many obvious mistakes which are changing the result of games. When it happens to your club you cannot get angry.

Arteta = Loser... Ange got a yellow for walking out the technical area - not for arguing with the umpire...
