He is probably one of the most technically gifted players to have played in his role. It's a shame we let him leave in the way he did. He was very important for majority of our attacks. Ozil is a great player when surrounded by proper players, he’s not someone who will chase down every ball or chase back to defend, but to play under the strikers and provide incredible passes. At the end, Arsenal didn’t invest enough to surround him with talents, instead wasted last 2-3 years of ozil prime being cheap and falling out of champions league.

The Arsenal teams he played with were not nearly smart enough for his passing ability. The only one who was up to his level was Sanchez having played with Iniesta and Xavi. He was at his best when there were lots of smart runs in front of him. There is a reason CR7 was mad when he was sold. I still cannot understand how he was treated so badly by the supporters, just because he did not "look" like he was trying hard.

Put prime Bergkamp in this team now and not only do you have the best number 10 in the game but also some actual passion and physicality too.
People forget Bergkamp did the dirty work too. That team wouldn't let you get away with it and you hear all the stories of how Bergkamp was secretly a dirty player.

some strikers clearly underestimated how brilliant he was... with the once that knew, great things were possible!
and the "bounce-shot" is so damn unpredictable, just by his stance and the way his foot is positioned, almost every keeper would think he goes low for the short post!
(and look at the footage btw, thats why they all kneel down, or dive down... but then the ball mysteriously goes up!)
