- Catherine, Princess of Wales, will spend up to two weeks recovering in hospital after successfully undergoing abdominal surgery. It is unclear what the surgery was for, but a royal source told CNN that the 42-year-old’s condition was non-cancerous.
Well wishes for the Princess. And a fast recovery.

Hysterectomy?
Maybe or maybe not. Given her age and the number of children she’s had there’s a high probability that like quite a bit of women, her age she had fibroids. If that is the case, then it would be dependent on how badly and how many fibroid she had. If it were just a few, then quite possibly a uterine cauterization would be sufficient if she had a lot then they may have done a partial hysterectomy. Or they may have done a full hysterectomy. There’s also the possibility that it wasn’t uterine at all, but she may have had some digestive issues. If she had a really bad case of diverticulitis, she may have had to have surgery for that. That would better explain the recovery time I would think. Most hysterectomies, do not cause you to be laid up that long. In fact, many women are able to go back to work the next day if they work in an office in order not doing anything strenuous, it’s all just speculation who knows
Generally speaking you also don't get a hysterectomy for fibroids. There are a lot of less invasive treatments. Additionally, this is all speculation. If you want speculation right of the top of my head I could come up with hernia, gall bladder or appendix. All of which are more likely than a hysterectomy but are merely speculation on my part.
@@rebeccaorman1823 as I said depends on how bad the fibroids are. I had to have a hysterectomy. But you’re right most of the time you don’t. I doubt it’s an appendix unless it ruptured the recovery wouldn’t be anywhere near that long hernia gallbladder, gastric issues of some kind we will probably never know if the truth.
@@Cent4man I will also point out that a hysterectomy doesn't put you in the hospital for two weeks. Secondly, all of this is simply wild speculation. There are hundreds of possibilities and a hysterectomy for any cause one of the least likely.
@@rebeccaorman1823 well her being a royal they probably get a more extensive stay then the regular unwashed masses like ourselves. I suspect that after the initial recovery, the hospital stay turns into something more like a spa. Stay than a hospital stay
Gallbladder, appendix both could cause that long if a recovery. Whatever it is I pray she is well.
Both those surgeries are typically done here in the US as “outpatient” procedures. The patients typically go home the same day, or next day at most.

While she is entitled to privacy for her medical conditions, it might be better to say why she is in the hospital instead of all this speculation, people are saying anything from hysterectomy to gallbladder or appendix to tummy tuck ,colon or stomach issues. It might as well come from the Palace instead of rumors or the media bribing some maintenance staff worker who over hears a doctor or nurse talking about her care needs to a fellow doctor or nurse. Let's be honest the information about her condition will get out.

With that kind of in recovery time, I think it sounds very familiar and likely means that whatever surgery she had didn't have the capacity to be laparoscopic... My logic on this being that an open incision in the abdominal wall is extremely painful as well as requires extended recovery compared to more standard presentations of a modern era.
I don't really care much about the whole royalty thing but as a woman who's had multiple abdominal surgeries a varying severity and recovery times, I just feel for any story that I hear like this because... It has a high likelihood of involving certain organs that can feel intimate to discuss in a public forum for anybody and if it wasn't associated with that body system, any abdominal surgery to the other structures in that area can be life-threatening even if they're not cancer. I hope for the sake of the population that she is anticipated to represent, though, if it was something like having resection for endometriosis or something, I certainly hope she'll eventually speak about it openly because they think that kind of level of representation would be so well received that it will feel silly that anybody had ever thought it was a better idea to keep the reason quiet.

Remember when Tony of the Sopranos got shot in the gut and it took a long time to heal? No, she didn't get shot but I'm saying that surgery in any part of your stomach, uterus, or near it is gonna hurt and it takes awhile to recover. Lots of nerves, skin, blood vessels, whatever is gonna be more painful than a simple hip or knee surgery. We have no right to know everything! She'll be fine with all the support. ❤
