- House sparrows are in trouble - the UK population has halved for reasons that we don't fully understand. But there are things you can do to help, and a good start is to put up a nest box or two on your house walls.
Read our step-by-step guide | www.rspb.org.uk/get-involved/...
We have 3 terrace nest-boxes on the wall of our house and every summer our garden is filled with a creche of baby sparrows. There's so much activity with feeding, bathing in the pond, dust--baths, foraging in the flower bed, and all sorts of social interaction. It's a joy to have them.
1:40 No no no people please don't take the nest out sparrows like to reuse nests and they often clean it out themselves and put in new soft feathers over the old nest every year. I have watched a colony of sparrows reuse their nests each year and they would only build a new one if the previous one had fallen down (they like to build nests in trees where I'm from in nz they don't seem to like nest boxes not sure why) and they often use it in winter when it gets cold. So removing it is just giving them more work. should only remove it if it has mites 👍
This is correct. This video has lots of incorrect information
Tip: If you add a few pieces of hay in the entrance to the box, the Sparrows will come 😊
I've just put up a sparrow terrace on our house. I hope they check it out.

Just place the box, help the lil bandits. The males are like little train robbers.
