I can’t believe you’re building Guitlers again. How awesome! Ever since I saw Andy Summers playing one in the Police video I wanted one. I was in high school and there was no way I was ever gonna be able to find yet afford one. Then they just kinda vanished after that. Very unfortunate. 😓. I however for a time ended up working for one of the greatest sounding, playing and looking traditional style high performance electric guitar manufacturers in the world. I was indeed very very fortunate because for 10 years my life’s passion was also my job. I do understand how great instruments do cost more than average mass produced similar appearing ones. I no longer own any of those wonderful guitars that I thankfully helped create. I doubt I’ll ever be able to afford another one, but one never knows. I’m someone thought the Guillermo was worth recreating and even improving upon. Hopefully with the the use of CNC and other computer aided manufacturing the price will come down a little so more of us average guys/girls can afford one also. Thank you

Gibson Les Paul: ~$3k (depends on model), comfortable to hold and play for long periods of time, looks sexy AF, timeless classic, sounds fantastic

Can't believe people are so closed minded... Just think of all the design and engineering behind creating such a beautiful instrument. I don't think its about having it replace all other guitars in the world, its almost a statement, a piece of art. This isn't a traditional guitar, and its not meant to be, but people seem to treat it and compare it to one.
Also, the demo was not the greatest, but this thing can sound really good if you check out some other videos (like the 35 minute review by Bob Gomez). Just keep an open mind, you don't have to buy this thing! Just like how you don't have to buy a Rolex... it just tells the time the same as a Timex does anyways right?

A Gittler bass with Lightwave pickups would certainly be the most interesting guitar on the market. Also, the attack on these guitars sounds really sharp. I absolutely LOVE the snap-on necks though. On the downside you always have to wear a strap..I never wear a strap at home, and prefer to sit when I jam. But the portability side makes this very interesting if you fly/travel a lot. I think they should try do a budget priced one using lower grade/cheaper alloy..sub $1000 ..they would probably sell like hotcakes purely as a super portable take anywhere travel guitar...iphone running irig, headphones and you could be rocking out anywhere in the world. It's definitely a beautiful instrument. But I wouldn't say that Volume & Tone controls are "unnecessary". (Personally, I think I'd prefer those over LED lighting). Also, to be slightly pedantic, the Chapman Stick is similar in that it has no body. (Like the washtub bass has has no body & one could argue that the Steinberger Basses & Guitars are similarly minimalistic with tuning heads at the bottom). -- They're all very cool. But, TBH I think one of the reasons so many people prefer traditional guitars is the ability to easily modify the instrument & customize things like pickups & internal electronics. The aesthetic appeal is also pretty narrow with respect to genre. New Wave, Jazz, Experimental... But I'd certainly hang one on my wall. :)

Nope, not the point. You can`t honestly tell me that this thing sustains notes or sounds very good for that matter.
I don`t believe that tone is defined by wood. However, a Dobro (national resonator), a Rainsong guitar and a Martin dreadnought all sound very distinctive based on the materials that they are made from. Two of which use different materials than wood for the body.
And yes, pickups are the major contributor to tone in an electric guitar, but you can`t fake sustain. Well...I suppose you could install Fernandez sustainiacs. Ok wait..., what was the argument again? Oh yeah, no discernible sustain or warm tones from the steel twig.

As incredible as it is - and I mean that genuinely - it's never going to sound as good as a wood guitar, especially clean. I respect the ambition here but I think it's a misrepresentation to present this as a superior guitar. It's a curiousity and a conversation piece and sounds good but is not on par with the standard.

  • @Wishbringer7
    @Wishbringer7 Před 8 lety +1

While this is a great showpiece... it may also turn out to be an Edsel-- a guitar no one needs. For the price one can buy a much better guitar-- leaving looks as the only reason someone would purchase it. And since customization of titanium or changing the pickups is pretty much out of the picture-- this strikes me as being a single-model guitar priced way out of the market of those who might want one just for fun.
As for being hand-made as if that's a marketing plus-- it's titanium. Far easier to mass-produce and require no hand-adjusting whatsoever. Could be totally automated and out the door.
Maybe you folks need to consider a different market. If this is such a revolutionary guitar-- make it available to more people. As it is, aside from looks I can see no advantage to this guitar. For the price... I think I'll go get some pipe and some 16 penny nails and build one myself in just a few days.

to say that the world of guitar is long overdue for a rolex etc is a bit of a slap in the face to the guitar makers making high end instruments that are honestly more versatile than this and a hell of a lot better looking

"first guitar in history with tuners in the bottom" is that really a selling point. also with a strandberg costing a little bit more i would rather go with that due to the zero ergonomics of this junk

[Secretly Made by Cyberdyne Systems from the Terminator T-800 Left Behind Prosthetic]
Thanks to Sarah Connors `encounter` with the T-1000 in TII the new T-800 Series had to remove its Arm once again as it was stuck in the chain drive of another machine:
One was destroyed; but another T-800 series forearm and hand remained:
Someday a truly pissed T-9000 will show up shape shifting and shit and you best not be playing its great ancestors bones as a "heavy metal" instrument: Oh Oh some people are already on FB tagged:

Yes! I remember Andy Summers playing it in the Synchronicity video, i always thought it was just a gimmick. Anyway, it looks like pure shit

Misses the point of what brings out the best in an instrument and the player...
That feel, it's hard to describe, you either know it or you do not.
Plus, I like to customize and mod my gear.
For me, this just lacks mojo, flavor, feel, soul, that "X" factor.
This is like the difference between a Steinway Grand Model O and a Yamaha Dgx 650.
It is technically brilliant... just not for me.

Bet they don't have a military discount... would have to be pretty dam big for almost every other vet I know to possibly afford one. I know I sure as hell can't.

5K for this? WOW why the hell would anyone buy this? I got a few gibsons in that ball park. And they're a reputable company, A household name. My great grandma knows the name Gibson. Plus they're a great guitar. That's just a crazy price point for this guitar.

Until you actually play one of these guitars you have no idea what the experience is like. They were two grand back in 1980.
