Check Zillow.com and apartments.com You will find a lot of options (check plainsboro area that near princeton)
I live in surburbans area in New jersy your lucky ur not from New York expensive place here u can definitely find safe neighbourhoods with good prices

You need an SSN but you can tell the landlord that you just moved and will share the SSN once you get it. That should be fine

Rent is around 1600 and it does not include utilities
