I initially came to the channel to watch the technical content and Andrew's impressions (vehicle). To my shock and amazement a sudden and intense wave (I think they call it a Flaviana) engulfs the channel resulting in chuckles, laughs, accent impressions, and a different EV insight/perspective. All welcome... All good... 😲😲 Andrew.... Flaviana is 100% correct that interspersing regular life stories, moments, and funny bits does not distract from the focus of the channel but provides a needed balance. Andrew's Decision: Do I want a Technical EV channel or a Lifestyle EV Channel? I vote Lifestyle (I.e. how is the EV to live with, etc.). The trip to London provided needed insights interspersed with what you have been doing since your last post. Fact: I enjoyed your daughter's perspective on 'bad words' and enjoyed her contributions to the video. As they say... 'It takes a village'.

Loved it, weird, mad, crazy...true but great fun. It makes a change to just see a car being used, we know all the flaws in the iD3 by now so it was good to see them being coped with...Flaviana's opinions are so down to earth...you seemed to be completely in the dog-house at the end though with both wife and daughter 😂fancy you talking about cars and upsetting Aurelia like that! I imagine it takes more work than simply keeping it separated, but the footage of the trip interspersed with cuts back to you in the driveway, when it was relevant to your conversation, worked really well I thought. Instead of a long bit with facts and a long bit with impressions, mixing the two by cutting back and forth made it easier to keep my attention. The family reviews are half the reason I watch - the they're a lot more fun than just another car review. Great video
Owning an ID.3 for 2years now, I fully subscribe to this review. It is roomy, comfortable, reliable. Even the software worked in my car without major issues. In the first months some warning lights came on, but went off after the next restart. Some service updates took care of that. The car is not very exciting, but it’s versatile. It works well in the city and on long trips. I love the turning circle and the seating position. I am sorry for the VW engineers though. It is so obvious that for the materials, touch buttons, etc. the accountants dominated the design decision. Still love the car.

Nice review. I particularly appreciated the skilful editing giving the viewer occasional relief from the x-rated content by showing useful technical information about the car.
18 months of owning a used First Edition and with the v3.2 of the software there is no real reason not to like the car except of course if you just feel the need to dislike it as some people do. We did our longest trip to date in June 2024 with a 1,300 round trip to Orkney. The car performed flawlessly as you would expect and returned good economy. When you get out of a car after 200 miles and you feel just fine you know that the fundamentals of the car are excellent. As I have commented before, you do get used to the buttons and controls very quickly just as you do with the buttons and controls in any car which is new to you. We all use touch sensitive phones, tablets and even our car infotainment screens and yet people continue to complain about touch sensitive buttons. My washing machine has touch sensitive buttons as does one of my computer monitors, and so on. The griping about touch sensitive buttons in the VW ID cars puzzles me somewhat especially when other cars now have touch sensitive buttons and nothing is said about them.
That’s great you love it so much and I’m not surprised - it’s a great car. Plenty of space and drives so well. The one we had was a very old version of the software which must have been quite glitchy. This video was very persuasive in our finally choosing an ID.3 which we bought used on 3rd March 2023. My partner who is the driver (I am registered blind) seems to be very happy with the car. It is easily the best car that we have ever owned by a very very long way. The touch sensitive buttons are something that you get used to as an owner in a very short time just as it takes a short time to get used to the controls on any car new to them. We'll keep this car for a very long time.
The only reason why is that many people want to see her make Andrew cry. It is more due to no one can believe what she says. that any one would say it. He has to be on the strongest med's there are
tbh I find it unfair to reduce the entertaining factor of this channel to Flaviana. For me it really is the back and forth between your calm struggle to present a serious car test and her italien tech-defying temperament. One without the other wouldn´t work nearly as great. Keep it up and thank you for the great content. Even though I bought a Skoda Enyaq in the meantime (Deciding against Ioniq 5 and the eniro actually) hence most of the cars reviewed aren´t even that interesting to me anymore xD. We all want to buy a car that our wives will like. The car manufacturers should not bother putting a car on the market until Flaviana and Aurelia have approved the design of their cars. “You say to Mamma ‘fanculo’.” Brilliant.
As always the impressions of the car (NOT the accents) is what counts in your videos. Dry facts and figures are not needed. You and Flaviana talking about what is right and wrong is the best bits. Keep on that track please. - Ignore your daughter though - we love to hear your talk about cars
Man just to think that I thought it was expensive when it came out. Checked out VW's prices today. The 58kWh base version is 45.000€. The bigger 77kWh battery is only available at the top version at 57.000€. Even if it was cheaper to run compared to CNG/LPG (which its just barely is), you'd never recoupt the extra cost to buy it in the lifetime of the vehicle. The Polo 1.0 TSI CNG is 25.000€ and the Golf 1.5 TSI CNG is 33.000€. I guess it depends on the country, the local fuel prices etc.
Love the comments about swearing. Every Italian I've ever known swears like a trooper in English. (and I have worked with quite a few!) Really getting flashbacks to the days that I worked with at least 3 very strong willed italians!
The thing is, Flaviana, us car geeks can nerd out on all the fun facts but its nice to get the real user view, which means you telling it like you see it. Perhaps being Italian allows you to be straight to the point without dressing it up. As for your accents Andrew, I'd say that Scottish one was pretty fair. For trying to get into Welsh I like to imagine Rob Brydon. But yes, did make the video a bit more interesting. (I see Aurelia is taking after her mother. :-)) "I dont like it when you talk about cars" - cracked me up)
Thanks Andrew, hilarious as always. Decided on one of these after test driving about 8 EV's recently. Just seems to tick lots of boxes, the style, size, driving style, range,price,etc. Going to get a used for £15k hope to pick it up this week. First foray into electric cars, if it pays off probably go salary sacrifice lease. I do feel for you though because I spent hours looking at a Kia Niro (old shape) including your own videos and checking specs,etc. Showed my wife (whos half italian and very opinionated) and she said I dont like it, then i showed her another colour and she said ah that looks ok (its just another car!) . So then went to test drive it and she said no the interior looks dated and the rear camera is shit , that was the end of that. I just slowly hit my head against the drivers door window at the hours wasted. But she liked the ID.3, hooray! Cheers

It's been a busy couple of years! We got the IONIQ 5 shortly after this so my spare time got sucked into making videos with that instead. Plus, I'm just very slow at editing!
Flaviana you should be on the camera more often, I love the Italian ascent. You speak your mind and that’s what motorist like. I have an id3 it’s amazing, the software is a lot to be desired.
looks like the software hasn't been updated at all from the original 1st edition s/w with the "Home" button on the left hand side for a RHD car. Would be worthwhile getting at least the 2.4 software upgrade for the functional improvements. I've 60,000km done in my ID.3 1st edition and it's great.
That's exactly what I told the rental company as well. I'd filmed a few more glitches but didn't feel it was fair to include them as they're surely fixed.
We've just got rid of ours it was nice to drive, but the software was very glitchy. We decide to change because of the idiotic prices at the time which meant we made a packet of money on the id3 and reduced our payments on a new MG4 - we'll see how glitchy the MG4 is now...

I really liked Corfu in the 1970s before all the tourist hotels went up 😊
I think your daughter is very much like her mum, "I have something to say" - "I don't like it when you talk about cars". What a great trip video with an honest review of the ID3 which from the looks of the navigation system is suffering the same software issues as its larger sibling the ID4, which unfortunately is the only model they sell in the US. On a smallish island like Oahu the ID3 would be much better suited.
Tell Mrs EV , that i was taught that swearing shows a lack of vocabulary understanding , and the English language ( and italian) is too rich to ingnore great rich discriptive words 👍and to stoop to vulgar speak shows a lack of understanding ( i say this from the comfort of being 800 miles north of Flaviana! 🤣)

After I bought my EV, I unsubscribed to many of the EV CZcams channels in my list but yours, so I am really here for the road trip videos (and Kermit songs).
I checked this out before I ordered our first EV and we thought it was bland, boring and the inside just wasn't worth what they were asking. We also thought the seats were hard. We were very disappointed in it especially when we heard the price.
You just *have* to do a full review with the Kermit voice now! :) In all seriousness, accents are the bread and butter of standup comedians, and you got that, so please - use it more often. P.S. Flaviana was right all along, glad you took note.
Interesting as I owned an ID3 1st edition for 2 years and now have had a new Niro EV for 3 months. ID3 quieter and punchier low end torque. Niro better brakes, suspension, handling and more refined. I generally prefer the Niro.
Honestly do we really even need the car other than to stoke Andrew's frustration? His desperate attempts to be serious while being sidetracked are exactly why many of us have become cult followers. We want you to defend gong to Greece. We want to know more about the license to swear in any language that is not our first. We want to have an entire video where Andrew describes something incredibly technical speaking only as Boris Yeltsin, or whatever impossible condition Flaviana imposes for her own amusement. We also want genetic proof of the sister in law, and possibly an entire episode of Flaviana's thoughts for fixing the world. Please keep them coming...
Think when this filmed the basic ID3 at around £26k was the cheapest 200 mile family size EV you could get. And the MG4 has only just come out for same price with a better range.
The prices are absolutely insane. One good thing, though: there seems to be just one model now, so that's much less confusing. I think they previously they had Pro, Pro Performance, Pro S, Pure Performance?!

For me it really is the back and forth between your calm struggle to present a serious car test and her italien tech-defying temperament. One without the other wouldn´t work nearly as great. Keep it up and thank you for the great content. Even though I bought a Skoda Enyaq in the meantime (Deciding against Ioniq 5 and the eniro actually) hence most of the cars reviewed aren´t even that interesting to me anymore xD. Smiles all the way through this video, found as was interested in the car but what I watched was much better than any car review.
Man just to think that I thought it was expensive when it came out. Checked out VW's prices today. The 58kWh base version is 45.000€. The bigger 77kWh battery is only available at the top version at 57.000€. Even if it was cheaper to run compared to CNG/LPG (which its just barely is), you'd never recoupt the extra cost to buy it in the lifetime of the vehicle.
The Polo 1.0 TSI CNG is 25.000€ and the Golf 1.5 TSI CNG is 33.000€. I guess it depends on the country, the local fuel prices etc.
Love the comments about swearing. Every Italian I've ever known swears like a trooper in English.

At the accent point I found myself trying to find the Like button to hit it a second time.
The thing is, Flaviana, us car geeks can nerd out on all the fun facts but its nice to get the real user view, which means you telling it like you see it. Perhaps being Italian allows you to be straight to the point without dressing it up.
As for your accents Andrew, I'd say that Scottish one was pretty fair. For trying to get into Welsh I like to imagine Rob Brydon. But yes, did make the video a bit more interesting.

Thanks Andrew, hilarious as always. Decided on one of these after test driving about 8 EV's recently. Just seems to tick lots of boxes, the style, size, driving style, range,price,etc. Going to get a used for £15k hope to pick it up this week. First foray into electric cars, if it pays off probably go salary sacrifice lease.
I do feel for you though because I spent hours looking at a Kia Niro (old shape) including your own videos and checking specs,etc. Showed my wife (whos half italian and very opinionated) and she said I dont like it, then i showed her another colour and she said ah that looks ok (its just another car!) . So then went to test drive it and she said no the interior looks dated and the rear camera is shit , that was the end of that. I just slowly hit my head against the drivers door window at the hours wasted. But she liked the ID.3, hooray! Cheers

Flaviana you should be on the camera more often, I love the Italian ascent. You speak your mind and that’s what motorist like. I have an id3 it’s amazing, the software is a lot to be desired.

looks like the software hasn't been updated at all from the original 1st edition s/w with the "Home" button on the left hand side for a RHD car. Would be worthwhile getting at least the 2.4 software upgrade for the functional improvements. I've 60,000km done in my ID.3 1st edition and it's great.
That's exactly what I told the rental company as well. I'd filmed a few more glitches but didn't feel it was fair to include them as they're surely fixed.
We've just got rid of ours it was nice to drive, but the software was very glitchy. We decide to change because of the idiotic prices at the time which meant we made a packet of money on the id3 and reduced our payments on a new MG4 - we'll see how glitchy the MG4 is now...

It is important to get real world views from non-car people such as Flaviana and Aurelia .... the world is full of techies when what is most important is what does the car do for ordinary people. Is it comfortable? is it easy to drive? is the technology too much? is Kermit the frog popular in Canada? - these are the real issues. I really liked Corfu in the 1970s before all the tourist hotels went up 😊
I think your daughter is very much like her mum, "I have something to say" - "I don't like it when you talk about cars". What a great trip video with an honest review of the ID3 which from the looks of the navigation system is suffering the same software issues as its larger sibling the ID4, which unfortunately is the only model they sell in the US. On a smallish island like Oahu the ID3 would be much better suited.
Tell Mrs EV , that i was taught that swearing shows a lack of vocabulary understanding , and the English language ( and italian) is too rich to ingnore great rich discriptive words 👍and to stoop to vulgar speak shows a lack of understanding ( i say this from the comfort of being 800 miles north of Flaviana! 🤣)

It certainly does not show a lack of vocabulary or understanding. You cannot know whether you have a wider vocabulary, or better command of the English language, than someone who swears. It is simply a different way of speaking - which doesn't mean they can't revert back and speak they way you think they should where and when the situation is appropriate.

I checked this out before I ordered our first EV and we thought it was bland, boring and the inside just wasn't worth what they were asking. We also thought the seats were hard. We were very disappointed in it especially when we heard the price.
The price has shot up since we filmed this. Pretty poor value for money especially now.

Interesting as I owned an ID3 1st edition for 2 years and now have had a new Niro EV for 3 months.
ID3 quieter and punchier low end torque. Niro better brakes, suspension, handling and more refined. I generally prefer the Niro.
That was great!....All the side stories etc. make it more real and more interesting.

Honestly do we really even need the car other than to stoke Andrew's frustration? His desperate attempts to be serious while being sidetracked are exactly why many of us have become cult followers. We want you to defend gong to Greece. We want to know more about the license to swear in any language that is not our first. We want to have an entire video where Andrew describes something incredibly technical speaking only as Boris Yeltsin, or whatever impossible condition Flaviana imposes for her own amusement. We also want genetic proof of the sister in law, and possibly an entire episode of Flaviana's thoughts for fixing the world. Please keep them coming...

Think when this filmed the basic ID3 at around £26k was the cheapest 200 mile family size EV you could get. And the MG4 has only just come out for same price with a better range.
The prices are absolutely insane. One good thing, though: there seems to be just one model now, so that's much less confusing. I think they previously they had Pro, Pro Performance, Pro S, Pure Performance?!
