Ellis Grey should never have been a mother. I don't think i've ever said that before, but it's true. Sick or not sick, she has no idea what damage she causes to her child. After watching this show, I'm so grateful to have the mother I have.

I love Webber and Meredith's relationsip on the show, he was like a father looking out for her!! I love Webber and Meredith! I Love this episode!! I wish it kind of turned out like this!

I love how Ellis says Miranda embarrassed her when the truth is she embarrassed herself. If she had bothered to read that patient's history/chart she would've known what Miranda eventually told her but she was to busy grandstanding & showing off
The hospital would've been vastly different under Ellis Grey. With Bailey as Head of Surgery she focussed on the integrity of human life and gave patients and staff their dignity. She developed that focus under Webber's leadership. Ellis Grey was solely focussed on innovative practice which took away the human element of care.
You know, i'm only on season 8 and plan to stop after season 10, but for some reason i'm really glad for this spoiler. I love Dr. Bailey very much and I'm glad she will be the good, caring, patient-focused chief I always imagined her to be. I was so worried that the same thing that happened to all of the other chiefs (except Dr. Webber) might happen to her. They all couldn't stand their job, started making bad decisions and their personalities changed for the worse while being chief. I've seen it with Burke, Derek and Owen now. I don't know, I'm just super glad to hear it doesn't happen with my favorite character of all time, Dr. Bailey.
@@greatdanelegend7001 Good for you. The producers should have ended the series a long time ago. I love grey’s anatomy and quarantine gave me the chance to finish all episodes, but so much has changed over the years and it’s just not the same anymore.
I stopped after they killed Derek. They just killed off too many of my favorite characters for me to keep watching. George was hard, then Lexi & Mark I almost quit then & Derek was the last straw.
I think Ellis DID love Meredith... in her way. She loved her but Ellis loved surgery more. She didn't know how to raise Meredith. Keeping Meredith from Thatcher was especially terrible because it meant that not only did Meredith had to grow up without her dad, she had to grow up with a mother who was heartbroken and married to her career. Meredith broke the cycle by refusing to make the same mistakes as her mother and does everything she can to be a good doctor AND a great mother who shows up for her kids. If she had given Thatcher primary custody, then things would have been very very different. Meredith would have gotten the love and attention she needed as a child from Thatcher & Susan, she'd be a big sister and maybe Ellis still would have seen Meredith when she wasn't working. Who knows? Ellis also could have married Richard and he would have provided Meredith with that same love but either way, Ellis just wasn't a good mother. She loved Meredith to a point.
Thatcher was a great father to Lexie and Molly. That was touched on time and time again. Ellis taking Mer broke Thatcher but Susan put him back together. Susan died it broke him and he turned to Alcohol. He went into rehab and sobered up. He loved all three of his kids. Therefore, Mer’s life would have been completely different had Thatcher gotten Custody of Mer. B/c while Ellis was incapable of really loving Mer more than surgery, Susan would have filled the void that Ellis left. Susan would have loved Meredith like her own. So Meredith would have grown up in a home with two loving parents as opposed to half of one loving Parent. Ellis loved Meredith, but her work came first so she was never there for Meredith. That is why I say Meredith had half of one loving parent.
@@richq3124 Thatcher became an alcoholic after Ellis took Meredith not before. At since pointhe recovered & Lexie even says he was a great dad to her when Thatch needed a liver transplant. His drunkenness we see on the show was after Susan died
The best part of this episode was Richard's and Meredith's relationship ♡ I loved it so much. Meredith's crying breaks my heart. She always grabs at her throat when she's crying. How she turns around when Ellis comes in the room is so sad. :'( ♡ I also love that they played 'fools in love' by Inara George. This song played in season 2 episode 3 'make me lose control' when yang had her miscarriage. :'(
I think Christina would’ve been similar in the way that she wouldn’t have been able to really connect with the child emotionally or at least she would struggle to, but I think she’d still make a better mother than Ellis did. Ellis was seemingly more narcissistic than Christina, even though Christina is very career driven she’s been shown numerous times to have a soft spot for the people in her life. She’s put her career on the line multiple times for the people she loves. Some thing that I think Ellis would never do. And Christina overall seems more empathetic than Ellis. While there are definitely parallels that can be drawn between the two women, Christina is undoubtably better.
