I am 22 and have just discovered this today. I've watched just one episode, this one, and I love it. I wish children's programmes were as simple as this nowadays; programmes like this and the Clangers, which I am guessing was produced a bit earlier than Bagpuss, are amazing and seem to vastly surpass a lot of the rubbish you get on TV now. It can't just be about nostalgia as I'd never seen this before today!
When I have a family, I'm going to show them this. They'll say; 'Daddy, I want to watch more Bagpuss!' I'll always cherish Bagpuss, that fat cat helped make me the good citizen I am today.

I completely agree. There are so few quality programs on CBeebies now, or CBBC for that matter! This was one thing I shared with my grandfather, I learnt so much about him and life and everything through this show, I couldn't give it up and will make any children I am around as they grow up watch it! xxx
tellytubbies was awesome though, it was always on in the morning when we got home from clubbing, bit of tellytubbies, cup of tea and a spliff and off to bed, ah good times....
I think it's wonderful and amazing. It has an elegance and class which modern shows can't even dream of attaining. But there's something sinister about it...the black and white, the eerie string accompaniments...always scared me as a kid. I never knew if Emily was real or a ghost. Bagpuss himself was terrifying to me. Hahaha :)
i remember waking up to watch this when i was 4 or even maybe 3, im 15 now. this was the best of being small, now it all about teletubies and macapaca where the animations can't talk properly.

You are not used to the fact that this is for children. And just because two people are always beside each other, doesn't mean they're 'going out'. As for Emily, she is a major charactor. It doesn't matter if you know nothing about her, she's a very important character on this beloved show. The narrator's voice is NOT freaky and depressing, it is how people narrated back in the 20th century, If you have a problem with Bagpuss then don't watch it.
Bagpuss is cute and sweet-still a little creepy though. It's not a problem, but now a happy, gentle cartoon like this would fail. CZcamsrs would make rape jokes at his every action (like "You Are a Pirate") If they ever do another Bagpuss, they should make the Fairly Oddparents fly into his mouth.
you couldnt say anything bad about this program..but give me a moment and ill try............did you see the last bagpuss episode...emily found a hand grenade..and give it to bagpuss....unfortunatly madeline the ragdoll needed a pin for her new hat..... and that was that..poor bagpuss
I shake my head at you, I really do. Why don't you use the brain cells, if any, you have in your head? This is a child's show, it's supposed to be magical. The way you're slagging off the show is destroying the magic. If you don't like this show, don't watch these videos!
