NEW Holo Jabba FIX | Episode IV A New Hope 4K Edit.

- Merry Christmas and a Happy Life Day to you all!
In order to curb the awkard CGI appearance of Jabba in Episode IV, I decided to turn 'Live Action' Jabba into a holographic projection. Not only does this partially excuse his appearance but it's better suited to his character, who rarely leaves the comfort & security of his palace, plus in my version, Han doesn't step on a crime lord's tail Infront of his crew. And in this continuity, his reveal in Return of The Jedi could still feel somewhat of a surprise reward for us.
The two Rhodians have been colour corrected to orange, like the ones in Solo, a Star Wars Story, and The Book of Boba Fett, so they would look less like Greedo and more like other henchmen of the same species.
The mechanical legs were based on Sidious' mechno chair from The Phantom Menace, perhaps Jabba's crew stole it from Palpatine's vacant properties? Open to interpretation.
We also added the additional scene of Han & the legs walking to replace Chewbacca's continuity error, present in the official release.
Jabba & the rhodians were carefully rotoscoped by VFX artist Prateek Saini www.fiverr.com/patrick_94711
The scenery & background characters were reconstructed & animated by Darth Porg. Darth Porg then pasted Holo-Jabba back ontop of these completed wallpapers.
@DarthPorg
The Mechno Chair was created by VFX Artist KIDDRO2000

Jabba & the rhodians were colour corrected by Crimson Maul.
Crimson also isolated Han & Jabba's audio.

Jabba's audio was edited by the kind folks from Star Wars Audio Comics!

The additional clip of Han's legs & torso was provided by Conor
Butler.

That makes a lot more sense than Han stepping on Jabba’s tail
Yup
Lmao it’s funny sometimes seeing Han step on his tail then Jabba looking somewhat angry after 😂😂😂😂😂
eh I like the stepping, but the hologram fuzzing out is funny too
Completely Disagree. It makes no sense for all those guards including Boba to be protecting a (phone bot)...
@@PunkSolar22x they’re there to take Han in if Jabba is fed up with the smuggler
This is actually a really great idea. It makes a little more sense for the character since Jabba would probably prefer to stay in his palace than go out just for one smuggler. Also the spider crawling legs is a good call back to Phantom Menace with Sidious so there is some nice connections across the saga even more.
Plus it's dumb cause he'd be an open target for his enemies.
@@Aaron_Heininger yes and no. He brought most of squad and Boba is there I am pretty he can one army anything. So Jabba is secure.
Also, consider that Lucas had established in The Clone Wars animated movie that Jabba used holo-technology, particularly when Jabba's nephew was taken hostage by Count Dooku.
@@Aaron_HeiningerI'd protect big sexy jabba
@@yospidey0078 he has a missile, Flamethrower, grappling hook, and some lazor weapons and other things we never seen him use in the movies only in the video games. So yah he is able to handle an army I'm sure. But most of his tech is made to either infiltrate or confuse and tire out his targets. Or injury them enough. But for protection in a wide open space??? Sniper rifles and bombs exist even in our world plus drones and remote control devices and people bombs. All it takes is one sick person willing to die for a reason to get close enough to bomb themselves. Or infect by plague or virus. And you think boba Fett can protect jaba from all that aimed at him??? In again a wife open space with storm troopers around? All the enemy would have to do is capture a trooper infiltrate and be on the path of jaba and boom dead or just put a droid in the suit or clone and boom he's dead.
Just validated Han’s entire “come see me yourself” line in ways that George didn’t bother with.
This is inspired. Also, from a narrative point of view, it makes far more sense as Jabba would have zero need to go there himself.
If the scene had to be in the film, this is the best version of it we'll see in my opinion.
I second the emotion 👏
The purpose of this concept edit is to excuse the bad CGI as well as fix some small plot holes.
In THIS version of the story:
Jabba rarley leaves his palace and communicated via hologram, like in The Clone Wars.
Han now waves his hands through the hologram rather than openly stepping on a crime lord's tail.
We turned the rhodians orange so they don't look like carbon copies of Greedo
We replaced Chewbacca's bad continuity close up clip with an entierely new clip.
_Brilliant. Brilliant!_
Nice looks a lot better but I still rather not have jaba in the that scene at all.
This is really great, but Han still calls Jabba a “wonderful human being”. It should changed to “Jabba you’re a wonderful being” or “Jabba you’re wonderful”
@@amazinganthony12 I think Lucas kept the human line because it highlights just how sarcastic he's being.
At first I thought Han's hand gestures when talking to a hologram like he's talking to someone physically in front of him were still weird until i remembered Sidious doing the same with the babies in TCW.
Overall very nice editing.
Now, this is a good version of the Jabba scene in A New Hope. I like how when Han goes around the holographic Jabba, the crime lord kinda "freaked out" in a sec but quickly reminds himself that he's in his palace and his hunters are watching over Han and Chewie for what happened earlier with Greedo.
Ohhhhh man, is Jabba gonna be a hologram?????? I CAN’T WAIT!
I never had issues with this scene, but goddamn, this is so well done that I thought it was a new official version by Disney when I saw it in the comparison video. Good job, genuinely.
Great concept with this Jabba being a hologram.
😅
Why would Jabba ever leave his palace when he has hundreds of bounty hunters working for him? This actually makes much more sense. If he ever wants to talk with anyone he would just use a hologram just like Emperor Palpatine.
🤩🤩🤩 now the jabba cgi is more acceptable!
Thankyou for your supervision and colour correction!
Overall I don't think this scene should've been added at all, mostly because the dialogue is basically exactly what we learned from Greedo's scene, as well as kind of demystifying Jabba for the first two movies. HOWEVER, I like this idea a lot and if I were forced to have this scene in the movie I would vastly prefer this version. Very inspired take on it and admirable work, especially on the stuff you added in the background that were originally blocked by Jabba
I second the emotion!
Yeah, it's a neat but unnecessary experiment. The scene adds nothing to the movie, but if it did, this'd make more sense than Jabba coming there in person.
This is exceptional. And from a storytelling point of view, its not complete reveal of Jabba, so we still have some build later on as to who he really is. Nice work!
The Neimodian walking chair being blinged-out is a great touch. Jabba is a gangster, after all; gotta flash some cash when you’re (sort of) going out on public business.
That’s me (Conor Butler) as Han Solo, my Torso and Legs. Was a pleasure to be a part of this, you’ve done a good job 👍🤙
thank you for your service.
This scene makes waaaay more sense than the "real" one. Not only would Jabba NOT leave his palace. This hologram scene atually corrects some of the "mistakes" of the original scene.
The size of CGI Jabba always baffles me. He's so tiny when compared to his size in Return of The Jedi. It feels like its not the same character.
Here the hologram makes the size problem disappear. And I also find that the "walk on tail" is more interesting here. I don't remember seeing holograms being passed through by other characters in the Star Wars universe. Thanks to this scene we now know what happens. And it's also more realistic because Han does not levitate in the air ...
Looks great! Usually prefer this scene left on the cutting room floor, but this is the best we’re gonna get.
I heard a bit of Ludwig Göransson's Boba Fett motif from The Mandalorian episode "The Tragedy" at the end.
Lucas needs to make this the new version. No joke.
agreed
Don't think he has much say on it. Only can suggest it as the rights were sold to Disney
I always wanted this scene to have a holographic Jabba, great job!
This is amazing, and makes more sense considering Jabba isn’t one to really attend dirty jobs. Something I’d love to see is the return of the human concept of the Hutt, acting as a proxy to his will to reclaim Tatooine, kinda like the Negan’s
i love how han's hand distorts the hologram when he gets too close or points at him
Wow! Was this made by someone that has access to my thoughts? I imagined this fix (right down to Han walking through the hologram!) while in the theatre watching the special edition back when it was released! It is great to see how well those fixes work, after imagining them for so long! Good Job!
Truly Wizard! That was amazing, making Jabba a holo for that scene fixes everything about that scene.
This deserves a million views
Jabba my crush
Absolutely 🌼 💯
That was really cool! And that was a great touch changing Greedo into a different Rodian.
Better than the actual edit (with Han stepping over Jabba).
I still kinda prefer the idea of Jabba actually being there, but this is nonetheless a _very_ clever take on this scene. And admittedly I guess it would make more sense since Jabba isn't really the type to handle business like this personally (his overall lack of mobility notwithstanding) and I can't imagine Jabba letting _anyone_ get away with stepping on his tail, much less a guy already so indebted to him.
Years ago I thought Jabba would have been better dropped in as a holo .. now I get to see it! Thank you!! 🙌
this is so a good idea that Lucas should have it 20 years ago. All the problems are solved here
Really good! I think you just need to turn the saturation of the hologram down a bit and the droid needs a bit of blurring because it looks very sharp against the softer background, but its excellent! Well done!
how does this not have millions of views. the word needs to get out!
Glad you recoloured those Rhodians as some fans keep thinking one of them is Greedo even though Jabba asks Han why he fried him moments earlier lol
I admire the concept but especially the details behind the hologram. This must have taken ages to create.
It's clearly a fan creation made in blender but it's a clever idea.
Jabba so big n sexy
I still just wish Jabba was stop motion. It would fit in way more
That was the original plan actually but Lucas ran out of time.
Blame the studios for not waiting on George Lucas
The fans are doing an infinitely better job with Star Wars than Disney is.
I like how you made the Rodian pink too. It’s weird how there’s a bunch of Greedo look alikes
Yes, fans are doing the best work!
Best version.
It’s 2024 and I’m still not convinced a CGI Jabba can replace an animatronic one yet.
This fixes everything now
OMG what a great idea with this holo! It solves so many problems with this scene. Great job!
I’m surprised George didn’t think of such an outside the box idea
I think this is more in line of what Jabba would do. He’s a crime lord who has bounty hunters do the dirty work so for the most part, he wouldn’t have a reason to leave his palace.
This is GENIUS. I'm one of the few folks that like most of the changes George made _(most_ of them, not _all)_ but this is just an excellent idea. Why would Jabba be there? Now he ain't!
Great work! You're right, it makes a lot more sense this way.
A lot of quality work went into this!
Interesting choice on how to fix the scene.
I've been pondering what could be done with today's technology if someone made Han walk in front of Jabba, but this is a sensible touch on many levels.
Such talent and such a great idea! Well done!
Will wait to see what this is like, especially if you make any changes to the sound designs.
While the hologram looks great, the holodroid itself doesn't blend well while being so sharp anc crisp in quality with movie being soo grainy like this scene
Fair feedback, somehting for me to consider when I eventually make my A New Hope Edit.
@@StarWarsStory With pleasure, hope you didn't get it wrong 😅🙏🏼
Amazing I love it that is definitely in my head canon now great job pro job ❤
This is fantastic. Great thinking.
Beautiful!! 😊
Nice concept dude. Turned out well. 👍
The only solution in which this scene can be added without ruining Jabba is to use the original actor and just change his name. So instead of it being Jabba that meets Solo, it's another bounty hunter there with back up. All you would need to do is change some of Solo's words around and keep the rest as is.
Considering how huge Jabba is both figuratively and physically, it would be out of character for someone of his criminal and physical stature to personally go out and hunt down Solo. If it was just another bounty hunter, it would give a sense of pressure and tension to Solo's dilemma over the 3 original films.
It makes more sense because Jabba probably could not get up from sitting that long and his tail.
I'd marry jabba
Han's fake legs are pretty good.
I like it - good work
Wow, never realised til now how this would've made more sense cuz of Han saying "Look Jabba, next time you wanna talk to me, come see me yourself. Don't send one of these twerps!"
I always wondered how Jabba dragged his own fat, slimy ass all the way to Mos Eisley anyway haha
The Projection spider is too Shiney when you see it.
Out side of that.. this flows better.
Jabba would have killed Han for stepping on him.. and Han is Cocky.. not stupid.
The last one was way better.
I love this.
Awesome new perspective, either way it’s all good
So Brilliant!
I can't believe it there's a new Jabba scene 😆 this is getting hilarious.
This is so cool!
Excellent
Great fx work. Would have been great if they thought of this. Plus they could avoid that dumb han stepping on Jabbas tail too.
Thanks man, I'm actually a subscriber of yours (on my personal account). I order you to give this vid a shout out! 😂 oj but keep up the great content!
@@StarWarsStory oh thanks for the sub 🙂👍 Keep up the good work. This was a clever idea to make the holo Jabba. I wonder if you should try another version of this but add the return of the jedi Jabba. But it would be a nightmare to try to remove the original and add new.
@@geomfilms Originally I wanted to put a comically tiny Jabba here, saving his real size for Episode 6 but like you said it's a nightmare covering up the original footage
This is perfect! Jaba just needs to be a little blurrier though, his sharpness is up compared to the rest of the scene.
Agreed, I slightly improved it in the comparison vid I made but I still need to tweak it further ha
@StarWarsStory I see that! I can already tell it's really good.
Finding out this is a fan-edit instead of an official update done by Disney-Lucasfilm buys a _lot_ of goodwill...
Makes me wonder if Disney will have to ask permission to use this
This makes so much more sense. Don't show George Lucas, he'd probably kick himself in the ass for not coming up with it himself lol
Great idea. Good execution. Hope it can be done again with a little better color grading etc. but super idea
It makes sense that jabba wouldn't come himself due to how lazy he is
He so big n sexy
Dude, you should tell Adywan about this!
@A21-EDITS adywan is most definitely still around, hes currently working on return of the jedi revisited. He is also pretty active on the OT forums.
@A21-EDITS I'd check either his website or the OT forums for his progress on the HD version
I've reached out to him on Facebook, but if anyone else can, I would be honoured to work with him!

Very creative! I might have gone with a busted astro-mech doing the projection instead. Such a better alternative than that terrible tail step idea - lets not even talk about the '97 version of Jaba. Cheers.
I'd love to see this scene in an ANH fanedit, are there any plans for one?
Eventually my friend!
@@StarWarsStory dew it
Is there any way you can download this without the watermark, as Id like to add it to my personal copy with bits added in.
Is there a project that this is tied to? do you have an edit of A New Hope in the works?
I do, though it's not a priority
This is a VERY interesting artistic choice.
First, a tiny princess-and then a big slug. Miniature beauty(fairy light), then huge ugliness (ghost threat of crackling light).
Is there a way to watch it in high res? I would love to download it and add it into my home version.
Yes! I knew that Jabba is too fat to leave his throne for some smuggler!
Hes sexy
Brilliant....
The device making the hologram itself is a bit rigid but everything else is pretty good keep up the good work
Wow…well done mate. Must have been fun to do :)
I would be nothing wihtout my team.
This fixes so many problems!
Although the scene still doesn't belong in the movie in any form.
Any way to get this without the watermark to add in a personal fanedit?
This is genius
Awesome for Jabba as Holo!?
Only thing I would change is to make the 'droid legs' into something more like a mouse droid to match the original trilogies grungy tech better
Though, I really appreciate the phantom menace callback, so I'mma leave it xD

You only have that hologram seen because it look like Jaba wouldn’t bother to come here in person, but rather send his droid holographic projector to do it for him.
Lucas would love this idea
Amazing, but I'm pretty sure that everyone would HATE this with all of their will if this change were made by Disney.
Is it possible to download this edit in HD and whitout the logo, somewhere?
Like this I’ll can to update my Star Wars version. 🙂
Unfortunately my friend I only have the assets, not the edit, however I intend to do a 2.0 version and when I do, I'll provide a download link :)
@@StarWarsStory Ho yeah! It would be super nice. 😃😃😃
Han's body language makes it too obvious that he's supposed t o be talking to someone who's physically there, still a fantastic idea though.
This is brilliant. A very clever idea to "fix" the problems this scene has.
Not Bad!
