Not only that but that deborah knew what he has done to noodles and she shacked up with him anyways, maybe as payback for raping her. Everything is so brutal in this movie
It is a dream that you are seeing. If you watch the last scene you can clearly see a big difference between the noodle in this scene vs the last scene (he is looking young)
Everything about this film is immense.nearly 4hrs long but seems like90 minutes cos it’s so captivating. The 10 seconds of dialogue b4 this clip is crucial to this scene. Ty for this post
One of the things I like about the scene, is that they don’t have Noodles try to apologize to Deborah for what he did all those years ago. He knows deep down he will never convince her for forgiveness, so he just comes to her just to answer one question he’s been asking the whole movie and that’s it.
Rsrs
David’s mother died giving birth to him. Years later, Deborah returned and shacked up with Max. She’s either David’s stepmom or just his father’s mistress. Earlier David called Deborah by her name!!!
@@tedflanc1024Deborah wasn’t his wife for known reasons and they couldn’t say loudly that they had child together. There was no wealthy women, it was all for newspapers. They lived together and had a son
@@greatstuff8554 I don't but Deborah and Max hided their relationship in some point and Deborah was "miss" and back then if women wasn't married her child was called bastard. I don't have a problem with the fact that they hide this.
@@bubabubu5395 Exactly, good analysis, I personally believe that the intention of the script was to leave it open for the audience to think: "Was Deborah really the mother of Max's child or not?" and yes, the boy could be calling her by name without knowing that she is his real mother, it may be that they decided to raise him that way so that she would not assume him as a son so as not to jeopardize her career as an actress.
Trust me, you’re not alone. There was a 6 hour cut of the film that never got released, that’s why parts of the movie didn’t make sense but even the 4 hour long version was beautiful enough.
What I love about this scene is Noodles looking back and forth at the door and Deborah because he's like well you know what fuck it, im going to figure it out anyway.
He understood at that moment that the one who had been his best friend had stolen the life he so longed for.

2:00 my favorite movie scene in film history. You can see the regret, the lust, and the desire to die in Max
Ya that reveal had me jump outta my seat it's one of my favorite experiences I had watching a movie and this is my 2nd favorite movie of all time
I love how you don't need words, you can see from his eyes what he is thinking.
That's that Sergio Leone magic right their
Music always there to tell you what's happening

Maybe he is thinking to rape her again...
Ya I'm my opinion de Niros best prefomence ever
The greatest movie ever

This scene and the Joe Pesci sit down are my fav scenes of the movie . This scene the music plays such a big part of why I love it so much
The music is incredibly moving.
Would love to see the 6 hour version. Everything would come full circle.
Yeah…
Was it ever released or nah?
Nah I don’t think it ever was released bro
@@batcaveloner1383 damn that sucks. The potential is there too. Beautiful film aside from the confusing structure
Would love to see it too. And see more of the kids. I love their parts.
They don’t make storytelling like this anymore
Fact
Because of movies like this, they won't even try
Cinema and animation both had a fucking downgrade
They literally made kotfm and Oppenheimer the same time u wrote this comment no offense but u are stupid
Great choice by sharing this. One of the most important scenes.

It was cut for so long😢
It's one of my favorite classic movies
Jennifer Connelly was especially beautiful as Deborah from Girls' Generation.
Robert De Niro is a great actor

Holy fuck, no wonder some of de niros best acting can be found in this film. He totally plays to it. +1 for James Woods too.

This orchestra is my life’s theme song I can listen for hours…… You can feel it deep in your soul!!!!!
Same i love it so much
Una de las mejores escenas
Bro looks like a beatles
The film in that part is ambient in the 60’s I think, so that makes sense
“Are you afraid I will turn in a salt pillar?”
“If you exit from that door, you will”
And I thought it would be revealed he was dead ahahha
Amazing
My favourite from all.....
miss you so much....:)
Très, très en accord : l'une des plus belles scènes du film (mais après par exemple le restaurant où Noodles lui déclare son amour)
To find out like dat dats y dis is the greatest movie ever the 3 hour version i seen in ireland
Η αγαπημενη μου ταινία....

very sad scene
Big treason😢
Not only big treason. The worst treason in movie history I think. What she's done is worse than Max.

Movie made zero sense
I never assume that I will understand a movie, especially a 4 hour one, on the first go
