    Struck down in her prime as an active dancer, Marla was virtually bedbound for months in 2020 as severe CFS took hold. Experiencing extreme fatigue, brain fog, pain and more, with doctors unable to help, she lost all hope.
    Through research, Marla discovered the possibility of CFS recovery and joined the CFS Health Online Recovery Program in early 2022. Key steps like acceptance, focusing on small joys daily and learning her "baseline" aided consistency as she persevered.
    Slowly but surely, gentle movement regained through restorative pole dancing helped rebuild her capacity. By pursuing what she loved within new limits, confidence in her body's ability to improve grew steadily over the coming months.

    I love the idea of just resting in what's working in the moment. Enjoying being there and what you are doing in your life right now in this moment. Connecting to your body, your mind.... feeling the connection. The process is so simple and it is so not easy when you keep getting in your way. It is steps forward and steps backwards... it is about being flexible and adaptable in the moment.... it is about accepting and forgiving yourself. ❤

    Omg the first person I heard talking about career uncertainty and so much stress and things going wrong around it, and how it contributed. Same for me! Also thanks for mentioning maintenance periods. I really needed that today! p.s. I took a few pole classes and they were amazing!! Adding visiting Vanilla Sky when I recover! Love from Canada. ❤

    This is the first CFS Health video I have watched all the way through. She was very down to earth (I liked her swearing 🙂) and I recognised a lot of myself in her. It was very inspiring. I just have to find the cash to be able to join the program! Five years of ME/CFS and I have improved a little but I'd like to be able to do so much more. I'm going to really look into CFSHealth now and not just skim past the videos/emails etc.

    Wow! I have just listened to this as a podcast and had to come on here to say “thank you!!” So inspirational to see such a full recovery from Mala and to see her so happy and flourishing in life. Amazing insight and golden recovery tips from Mala and Toby.

    Ah Marla the thing about ditching studying again and instead following your heart to open a studio “hit a vein in me”. The first thing I looked at after I recovered was to apply for another master’s instead of focusing my energy on opening my physical theatre studio instead because I have been afraid of the stress of the risk. You really brought up a good point for me to heal without knowing. Thank you both for this honest and humble talk! I’m in Europe too and I’ll try to visit you in Berlin when I’ll be there.

    Marla makes me living in Germany...her lovely accent as she speaks English. One thing that I understand and feel for a lot of CFS sufferers is they may also be neurodivergent.

    Interessting, i am from Germany too, still in another Programm CFS Recovery, and i am bedbound. She seems only real bedbound for 1 month, after that she gets better without doing something.i am lying down since 6 weeks, doing all that teached stuff and it is getting worse and worse. Maybe some people do not have the luck to recover. It seems the Body is doing a lot by itself, and If it is Not doing it, you stay stucked.😢

      To be honest: i do not Like all these recovery Stories, because they causes hope and not everyone seems to get better even with all that knowledge and taking care of you. I was so hopeful and now i am in a DARK place, without fear and calm but realising that nothing works is so frustrating.

      It's a holistic apporoach. You have to do the work.... no magic outside fix. Physically involves establishing a baseline of things within your capacity and doing only 50% of that ... consistently day to day. Maintain this consistently over 3-4 weeks, progress in "micro" steps. Nutrition eating whole healthy foods. Sleep ... follow good sleep hygiene. Mindset is huge... getting out of the victim mindset, questioning and being curious about negative core beliefs, changing the way you talk to yourself, stopping self sabotage, stopping things that keeping you from progressing. Let me know if I can give you specific examples. Sending you love❤❤❤. ..

    so what is "CFS HEALTH" actually selling? I keep feeling like they are a long-cast selling line - like a time-share come-on that lasts an entire week-end - just what is it that they are going to eventually sell me / get my money, with? Housing? Cookbooks?
    It would be nice to not feel like I have to sit through the entire weekend of meetings and conferences before they are just honest and put the price of their "product(s)" in the video descriptions....

      Great advice! Never one thing but combo of things! Learning about the nervous system helped and healthy whole foods is critical, healthy Celtic sea salt, homemade kombucha, kefir, sauerkraut !! Support gut micro biome!

      Surrender ing to the pauses that this condition Forces you to face. & Finding your flow inside The enerGy cycles again. We all seem to need to reconnect our imind/ body recharge stations. The communication lines get crossed or drained and our systems go into a state of overdrive to compensate and try to find new ways to cope.

    Don't get me wrong. I'm pleased she got better. I KNOW what to do. Too. But fresh organic, quality, fruit and veg costs money. And when you've no help. I'm going mad at present. Having a breakdown. I cut out sugar, cake, biscuits 3 weeks back. Now I'm cutting out fried food, condiments. Microwave food. But I've no family or friends, effectively, to help. I'm now 55.been I'll 15 years. I've asked good aquantances that are rich, organic food companies for discounts, ect, but nobody will help.
    And i feel lonely, socially isolated. I hate where I live. Unless I get /win enough money, I'll die this year. So few care.

      Lots of good FB groups sharing info on eating well on a budget. Doesnt have to be organic.

      Fix your mind and you will overcome this, good nutrition is only part of it. The most important part is the brain retraining and changing your thought patterns. It doesn't cost money. CZcams has plenty of helpful channels for this. Cut out all your negative that patterns. I wish you well x
