The Eurowings Dash 8 Q400 D-ABQD flight EW9203 from Bologna landed in the extreme conditions without aborting the landing and to have a go arround.

2. NICHT der Pilot das Leben der Passagiere gefährdet, sondern jemand der in einem Gebäude sitzt, wo das Wetter keine Rolle spielt.

I'd assume they don't have that option, would have to land somewhere completely different which clearly is out of question, waiting while circling airport wouldn't help probably either.

You don't abort until you are almost on the runway, you need to just try and see what condition is on the ground. Only then do you make call. Clearly he felt confident to land.

Seh ich nicht so. Er hat unnötig das Leben der Passagiere in Gefahr gebracht. Er hätte in Bologna abwarten müssen bis das Wetter in Düsseldorf etwas besser ist. Er hat alle Warnung ignoriert und wollte dort um jeden Preis landen. Er hätte auch einen Ersatzflughafen anfliegen können.. wollte er auch nicht.

that pilot is amazing. As a pilot i would have went around at 0:18, that down draft is scary, imagine if it had happen 20 feet over the runway. Maybe the pilot has good flying skills but he took a huge risk, continuing that approach

I once had a similar experience as passenger in approach to LCY including go around and second try. Can imagine the suffering of the passengers and don't want to know how many of them used the sick bag. But big bravo to the pilot, he really knows his job.

As a retired corporate pilot I believe I would have hit the go around button and flew somewhere a little less turbulent. But, you’ve got to give this guy credit for getting it down safely . Any landing you walk away from is a good one.
