I forgot that Kuzunoha was Abe No Seimei's guardian spirit, according to legend Abe No Seimei was the child of a Kitsune and a human male, his kitsune mother's name was Kuzunoha, so Abe No Seimei's own mother is his guardian spirit which is incredibly wholesome and a little amusing
Haha! GOOD TIMES! Not sure if you know the story of Konaki Jiji (the first new youkai you faced in this DLC) but the story of it is FUNKY which is kind of the reason why I love it so: A man is walking along a mountain path on his way home. As he does so, he hears what sounds like a baby crying and follows it. In the end, he comes across not a baby but a small old man on his back. Flailing and bawling. The man then asks him, "What is wrong?" to which the old man calmed down enough to answer, "I fell and I can't get up. Could you carry me home?" The man was hesitant because he wanted to get home soon but eventually he agreed and, since the old man was so small, decided to carry him on his back. As time went on, he noticed that the old man was, slowly but surely, getting heavier. Thinking that it was because he had worked himself harder in the fields than he imagined, he brushed it off and carried on. Finding his second wind. However, just as he was outside his village, the man was nearing his limit as far as carrying the old man was concerned. Barely able to lift his legs to walk. Just as he felt the old man was about to crush him, he dropped the old man and collapsed to the ground. Then, when he looked to where he thought the old man fell, what he found was not an old man... but a large boulder. Had he not have dropped him at the last second the man would have been crushed. Finding his strength again, the man ran home screaming and told his family what had happened. The morale of the story? Don't help strangers.
The new graces are actually awesome af! Ninigi for instance: has 30% melee ki, 15% active skill ki, and finishing flair AA. Okuninushi gives you a boost when you use flash attacks, and allows you to keep elemental effects when you switch weapons, increasing the duration of said effects. Then it has 30% elemental weapon damage. Izanagi gives a buff on purification and stacks. So these more focus on playstyles, rather than super op "builds". Plus, we have the new "plus" sets for regular gear. There's new star effects for everything, and new bonuses on soul cores. Plus, ethereal soul cores now, and scroll of the nioh. All the additions are great

What if Nioh 3 was another prequel but during the time William was in medieval Europe. So the weapons and armor would all be medieval European and so would all the mythical monsters. As someone who has taken a huge interest in medieval weapons and armor I think it would be pretty freaking awesome.
The name Nioh is a reference to the violent guardians of the Buddha, representing the use of force to defend against evil. That is why Hide and William act as defenders of the realm against those that would abuse the spirit stones. A fully European setting would not have the historical context to resonate with the theme.
You know the story would make more sense if you actually read the mission and end-of-mission descriptions.

That's the Elemental Familiar spell. There's one for lightning, fire, and water, for the 3 main elements. It came out with dlc 2 I believe.

you can just play the game normally and get it at random on a high difficulty lol
