  • We were invited to spend the day at the ICE Trikes factory in Cornwall, England. Thanks to directors Neil Selwood and Chris Parker we were allowed generous access to the shop and the employees who acted more like a big family than workers. We were lucky enough to see a "truck day" where everyone drops what they are doing to help unload the container. Patrick Selwood acted as tour guide as we then explored each department and the people who make these highly regarded trikes. Guitar background by the multi-talented Daniel Pearce.

    Hi and many thanks for your video! A great little moment in ICE Factory, with a fine sound of guitar that will stay in my mind! Yes, you showed us how it must be so good to work at ICE! Everyone is involved and it is bright to see.
    I will not see ICE Trikes with the same eye. I appreciated them before, and I will appreciate them more! Have a good continuation! 😉👍

    Neat. I well recall the day when I received a box in the mail with the parts of my custom ICE XL narrow track, pre-assembled for easy mounting. Still love it, and will continue riding it just as I ride my trusty Motobecane randonneur which I bought in 1977.

    Most impressive (ICE production environment), primarily with the technical prowness tempered with a 'grounded' attitude of the gang. Most lay-peeps fail to realize the beneficial need for a contrasting blend of technical & playfulness; it fuels the passion to excel. ICE is spot-on! Thanks, Gary.

      I think you put your finger right on it, Ed. Everyone loves to work there and anyone who visits can see why. They all have fun but recognize the seriousness and importance of living up to the standards they have set long ago. It is a great combination for all concerned.

      Hi Marco-Yes, I just got back home Friday from a week in the UK. I covered the World Human Powered Vehicle Championships in Kent (video coming soon) and spent a couple of days in Cornwall with ICE Trikes. A wonderful experience I won't soon forget.

      I asked Patrick about this. They set toe in about 2 mm. Then when the weight of the rider is added the wheels become precisely parallel.

    You build such modern trikes in a very primitive manufacturing setting compared to that of Catrike.

    • @GarySolomon
      @GarySolomon  Před 5 lety +2

      The trikes are manufactured in Asia, Cecil. Some assembly and modifications take place at the shop you see on this video. It is a very different type of process than occurs at Catrike🙂

    • @StellarFella
      @StellarFella Před 5 lety +2

      @@GarySolomon Oh, OK. The showroom, modification shop, and shipping is about it. That is why Catrike has the uphill fight of competing with that particular profit formula. The EOLA is a strategic attempt towards that end. For the exploitation of and the persistence of holding on to the market share of a high end trike market, TRIOT Trikes is an interesting emerging company.

    • @GarySolomon

    make a sturdy but super lite efficient pedal powered garden center vehicle something to replace a quad . 100kg haul and high seating...call it eco blah blah . something to crawl around public areas at slow speed and cut out everything you need run a vehicle.

    • @GarySolomon
      @GarySolomon  Před 6 lety +2

      Are you suggesting that ICE make such a thing? It doesn't seem to fit their product mix to me🙄

    • @TheCraigy83
      @TheCraigy83 Před 6 lety

      yeah...obvious gap in the market...anything you can slap 'eco-friendly' is worth more...in the same way things get expensive when you add 'disability' to the mix....make it and bat shit crazy hippy liberal leftys will buy it...they get boners when they hear 'carbon neutral '

  • @eegaugh

    Rather low on hard information about the product.
