I plugged my harp into modular synth. It was insane.

You can get a lot in life, by simply asking for it.
never ask her for snacks though. its dangerous. unless its pasta sauce.
Emily Hopkins is the gateway drug to understanding and enjoying modular synth.
Dang, these patches turned out awesome! So fun to make music with you two!
You friggin rock FrederickFoxtrott! ♥

For anyone interested, I made a follow up video exploring the final patch of this video using Make Noise Maths and a guitar: czcams.com/video/d7dsJ_R-mBc/video.html
man, the one at 5:00 feels like a credits scene from an emotional game where they're terminally ill, they've done all the things they wanted to do before passing away, and sounds like they achieved freedom after they passed away.
how oddly specific... I wanna play it and cry
How very beautiful!.... I want to "see" this music in a deep dream, wake, and feel I've been on a celestial adventure where hearts spoke inducing that "conscientious feeling of being in love".....
My cat came over and fell asleep on me during the the demo at the end, She definitely approves.
Never would I have thought that I'd see a man play a sick solo on an Octopus xD
He did a fantastic job playing that lil guy
Very entertaining video, great job as always :3
Yeah! That little octopus is my fav. :)
@@FrederickFoxtrott You did a great job with him, sickest octopus solo I've ever seen :3
@@RemitheDreamfox ☺☺☺
..... and very creative! 🐻👍🏻
That first bit with the clouds was ethereal overload. And that's a good thing.
5:00 is one of the coolest things ive heard from a harp
Same
❤
And from Em. Look at Fred on the floor all blissed out. So good.
Check out her 'Unusual EAS' EP if you haven't yet. Feels like a dark counterpart to this.
Clouds still the GOAT. Lovely piece at the end!
Agreed!
That octopus has never felt so loved. 😊
🐙💖😌👍Great job, Frederick!
@@soveriegn777 Thank you so much :)
@@FrederickFoxtrott You're welcome😎👍
the first part with just clouds was so beautiful
100%
Clouds is one of my favorite Modules
2:48 sums up this channel perfectly. Harp + cool sound + Emily smiling at what she's created :-)
Wow, that last bit was beautiful. The different textures and layers…it sounded like floating in ocean of light with little creatures swimming happily by.
My grandma played harp (and organ) for her small rural Wisconsin church for 40+ years. My grandpa was the minister. He is no longer with us, but she is. I need to get some recordings of her playing her favorite songs and hymns and run them through my modular synth. Thank you so much for sharing and demonstrating. Even just through clouds (which I have) would make something I think she would really like.
"Just Clouds" All string instruments sound great through clouds reverb. I have run my upright bass through my system (which is no longer).
I think half the ambient modular synth players get into modular for clouds alone. ♥️
Lovely patches, and great use of your harp as a CV controller! It makes me want to plug my electric cello directly into VCV Rack again!
Some day I'll be able to afford taking the dive into physical modular, but for now I'll live vicariously through your exploration!
100%. Started with clouds and came full circle back to just have the Grone module which has clouds. Running my upright bass through my modular system was fun.
You’re able to plug electric instruments into VCV rack? That’s sick!
@@patrickbrogan8770 yea! I don't remember exactly the process, but the standard "Audio" module has inputs as well as outputs, so you can choose your audio interface input as an input into the VCV system on a different Audio module than you're using to get sound out of VCV Rack (hope that explanation makes sense!). Then your instrument is able to be used as a sound source, CV source (likely playing with some amplification, depending on voltages - I haven't done that much with it), and a great source for gate triggers and envelope followers. Also, getting to use VCV as a massive FX rack is handy too.
Depending on your setup, you'll encounter lag, which can be problematic, but I am pretty sure there are ways within VCV Rack to address that as well, just haven't messed with it too much.
NEW MODULAR SYNTH VIDEO LETS GOOOOOOOOOOOO
Gone from 0 to falling straight down the modular rabbit hole, completely bypassed the usual Microkorg stage, nice!
lol, too funny. I just bought a MicrKorg coffee mug in honor of that stage. Hell, I think I'm still going through it 7 years later.
The octupus thinks it needs our help, but does it realize how much it's helping us? Hi, I'm Noyd, and today we
these are seriously some of my favorite sounds you've ever gotten, especially that Mimeophon patch with the forward/reverse; I think modular's really great for people who are maybe burnt out on even thinking about pedals because you can choose just small functions of a few modules and get something new and exciting out of it that's not just "turn knob on the scronkblonkaskonk and it shmoooooves".
I really like your setup, and I like Mod-Master Frederick; he really goes with the room. (Thank you Frederick, you're a G)
am I going to be on VCVrack the rest of the day? maybe
3:02 That's a friggin' awesome song you created there! Very sci-fi-ish and mysterious. I love it
emily and fred have the sounds and creativity to create a life changing pysch album, i really cant get enough 🤞
♥
Never in my life did I think I would see an octopus solo
The modular world is crazy and you can combine it with regular pedals too 🤯🤯
can’t wait to see what you do with modular next!
YES that was the video i was waiting for!
That's a great use for Clouds' Freeze CV btw
Aaaa such lovely results! Clouds is such a staple in modular for a reason!! I love plugging instruments through it!
Emily, once again some very inspiring sounds from your harp! Thanks for incorporating our modules, and we're stoked you are enjoying Injectr so much. :) Cheers!
*Sick Octopus Solo* @2:00 🤘🐙💖✨This video was awesome! When Fredericks around you know its gonna be Epic! And thanks for explaining things in a way that someone like me (who knows diddly squat about synths) can understand 🫡 Russ & Em FTW❤️

Yaaaassss! Finally! I've been waiting so long and it did not disappoint!
Great concept, the sounds turned out so good, and I don't even know much about the harp
Fantastic job integrating the modulation into that outro! So hypnotic! 😵💫
Wonderful Emily and Frederick
Thanks Pete!
Yeah the clouds totally sounds like another modular synth channel I listen to. Really good ambient vibes.
🐙 I am losing my mind over the Octopus!!!! 🤯 This video has ALL the sauuuuuuce Emily!!! 😁 Loved seeing the process of putting your harp through a modular set up and WOW what an outcome, sounds absolutely friggin EPIC!! 🙌🐀
It's like you're playing to a pond of spring peepers and they're singing back to you. Absolutly beautiful!
Emily's harp through guitar pedals: intense NIN vibes.
Emily's harp through modular synthesis: chill Sigur Rós vibes.
Thanks I cried

Yep, I enjoyed it. Really dig the move to modular, guys. Keep it up.
The level of comedy is just right haha. Beautiful work!!!
They are the funniest.

Jeez, Emily. You can play my emotions the same as you play the harp with the sounds you create on that thing. Music in general hits me right in the feels quite frequently, but that harp really goes straight to my SOUL!!! Thank you guys for being so awesome, always brighten up my day
Fantastic video Emily, yep Clouds always deliver , enjoy your trip into the fun and sometimes hellish modular rabbit hole .
That sounds so good with those modular synths. Of course, the best thing is the octopus!

This is exactly what I asked for that one live stream where you took suggestions. It would have happened anyway but it makes me happy. You are electro acoustic harp Santa Claus 😊
I'm really looking forwards to seeing the ending song on Spotify >:3
The patch sounds great! And by using the bass strings to affect how the mod synth modifies the sound is very clever. Nice job, Frederick! And as always, Emily plays delightful music no matter how you choose to mod it!
Thank you! We are pretty proud of that patch. Really just scratching the surface of what's possible.
@@FrederickFoxtrott , I dig. So many pots and so many possible cv combos! It's probably a lot fo fun to experiment and discover!

Absolutely some of the best processed harp tones ever!
5:00 sounds like the jungle and the ocean combined. So freaking cool.
That triggering effect in combination with the effects from the other layer, sounds really cool in both a futuristic and relaxing way. Really cool stuff.
Sounds so good. The patch in the 5th minute is seriously brilliant.
I never thought I would be listening to octo-rap, but here we are
The "help me" sample immediately made me think of NIN's "Closer" - an association supported by the synth noodling - so, hereby requesting a NIN cover the next time you cross paths with a modular setup.
Omg ,if I was making an album I would have you produce it and play on it like I have been saying you are making colorful notes on a colorful soundscape ,even grouchy uncle would approve 🤣🤣🤣❤️love ya
Sounds so lively, organic and just stunningly beautiful! Holy shiet, I want to live inside this soundscape
The fact that somebody somewhere somewhen figured out how to plug a harp into stuff will never cease to amaze me.
Does anybody know when the Clouds bit will be up on bandcamp?
Tonight or tomorrow!
@@emilyharpist woooo will keep spamming refresh :)
thank you for the beautiful sounds. I really appreciate it
This is delightful and the harp sounds awesome working with modular. I already have a few synths and I love the idea of having modular gear but I'm scared to start collecting it because I'd probably end up bankrupt. I have a Behringer Neutron and a Moog Mavis, and I've stopped there for the time being - no Eurorack! But I consider myself a modular nut by association. I absolutely love the modular synth community, it's so friendly and welcoming... and a little bonkers, in a good way. Love the octopus controller :)
I find you very relaxing to watch, love your content ! :)
The last patching set up was a very nice fusion of problem solving and creativity.
This is great! Modular really opens up a whole new realm of creative expression!
That first pluck on the bass string at 2:47 sounded like you were about to launch into "Spirit in the Sky".
Wow... those songs were so beautiful. I love the way the modular synth enriches what is already a beautiful sound.
5:00 this song was played at WALL-E and EVE's wedding. It was beautiful. They had real flowers and we could see the moon.
That last piece was positively stunning.
3:37 Forg, these sounds instantly brought me to an underground cavern with glowy mushrooms
*Instantly falls in love with the octopus*
this is so cool! All of these synths are amazing but the octopus synth has my heart
Yes!
More proof that clouds is a meme for a reason. Sounds absolutely gorgeous... great work!
4:59 uhh mah god........ just the most beautiful dream scape I've heard in ages, amazing work Em!
This whole video was such a vibe!
Every single video amazes me still at what you can do with your harp and effects!
And you're always entertaining with balancing comedy and more serious/informative stuff. Just excited for all that's yet to come as your already broad talent just grows!
Now you've inspired me to look into modular synth for sax... :D
I'd listen to hours of this. It sounds so great. Amazing work!
This was all so beautiful. Great work! Synths are so fun
Wow! Love it! Sounds otherworldly!
I feel like I was listening to the sleeping of a newborn alien
💙 Lovely that you are having FUN creating new magical sounds!
There ARE musical therapist (all kinds) who DO go round providing "sound healings" for folk who just lay back & relax. 😁
Amazing work! Thats so cool that analog synth is still around.
Hella cool!!!
Dig that soundscape it created!!
So excited to see the modular incorporated into more music and videos. I am currently trying to save a bit of cash to start my own synth journey too!
Sick sounds!!🤯👍
This was seriously one of your coolest videos, which is saying a lot! Also, I'm glad you had the Boredbrain input device on there! I've been looking for an input module for my guitar that tracks well!!
Great sounds and music, nice to see modular explored from different input sources. Nice to see that journey unravel, looking forward to seeing where you take things.

I love the sounds you have running through Clouds. Great ingenuity on your part…kudos.
Waaau !!! That's amazing! I'm absolutely impressed of this wonder'n beautifull track. Love it sooo much!!!
Very cool stuff. Nothing beats playing with sound. I enjoyed it.
Reminds me of the equally insane setups run through the modular Moog at the Electronic Dream Plant studio in Oxford UK. 🎶🎶💞
Just amazing. As always. ❤
I've been plugging steel guitar into modular synths a lot lately. So good.
The chirpy noises paired with the clouds effect makes my brain go BRRRRRRRR. but in a soothing way
What an incredible sound sculpture modular harp can make!! Amazing... Thanks Frédéric, Em & Russ for all the sauce
this is amazing and you're an inspiration
I'm always amazed by the approach you guys take at effects. It's very creative
This has some serious potential! Would love to hear more of this performance.

Another good one Emily! You Rock!
Someone needs to tell David Lynch that his next movie theme is here! Brilliant as always.
I'm super happy you thinks so. He's a hero of mine obviously. Let's make that happen :)
Love your playing so much! 🥰 🎶
I was expecting Elizabeth Frazer to start singing an 80s Cocteau Twins track at the end there! Brilliant
That was wonderful. Every minute of it.
I enjoy your vids...I'm new to your channel and love how you going the harp and incorporating different technology.. But I saw the vid speaking on folks commenting about the nose ring and for a second I got upset but the way you addressed it and pretty much in a sweet nice way told them to F* off was CLASSIC.....Loved it....and the dog is cute too......Looking forward to the next vid
ooh that’s a nifty patch. Once I buy a case I’ll have to try using that module that can generate gates from incoming audio. My SoftPop 2 kind of does the same thing?
