The Traveler gave Guardians their power, but what is it really? And what does it want with humanity? These questions and more are explored in this episode of Lore to Go
First video, and decided to look at your channel. This is exactly what I was looking for. Bite size lore that I can occasionally share with non gamer friends wanting to learn more about what I’m interested in.
Maybe the traveler was trying to find life that was capable of helping it defeat the darkness, and if the species didn’t make the cut then it would leave and continue its search. Yes it’s cruel to make something dependent upon you and then leave it to fend for itself, but a necessary evil when compared to its goal (destroying the darkness?).
I like this theory! I'm not sure how it would go about judging who is good enough, but there's definitely got to be some reason it stayed on Earth rather than running again
I am with this as well. However, I'd add that I think the Traveller finally came to realise after many iterations that in the end, there was no one race that could defeat the Darkness; defeat its Fears. So, for perhaps the first time in its life, it took a stand and a gambit, maybe even surprised itself by staying to fight back against its old enemy.
This was a popular D1 theory, but was disproven in D2. Rasputin has a protocol to shoot the traveler to force it to stay, but never initiated it during the Collapse
Destiny 3: The Traveler is going to abandon humanity and find another race. The humans will chase after to find the answers to why it left them and come across this light using race and we'll realize we're just like the others now.
Yeah, it's kind of weird. The Traveller is arguably the most important Light-aligned character in the game, and we know barely anything about it's goals, motives, or history
instant sub, i have been searching for someone to put this as plainly as you did. also inadvertently got an answer to a queation i was asking "where did ghosts come from?" How can we donate to keep you going ?
Its a very old Game.... Between Above and Below. This Game was the reason for creating the Reality. The Universe or better say the Multiverse . There was a story about one who give and the other who took. Light and Dark. Day and Night ... ☯
I came here to find out what the traveler was before the alien race that became The Witness chased after it but unfortunately, we wont find that answer here...
The question is "who"or "what"is the traveler..who or what is inside that circular huge object ...since it generates "light"it only means that it is the "good guy"...but there is a mystery unto it ..could it be "someone"or a group of.alien.race.are Inside that sphere controlling it..or could it be that it is "Alive"all along...
I'm just learning of this universe now seems confusing, you would think the traveler is a good entity for granting advanced tech but hes neutral becuase he leaves ? Is this based off a vidio game ?
Yeah, this is all based off the video game Destiny. It's made by the same people that made Halo I personally think The Traveler is good, but the Light itself is a neutral force. It can be used for good or bad. The Traveler though seems generally like a good thing, especially when compared to The Witness on the side of the Darkness
The game's more recent continuity has really blurred the light = good / darkness = bad distinction: in the "Beyond Light" expansion, the player character started communing with tools of the Darkness and gaining Darkness-based powers, and in "The Witch Queen", you exploit Darkness-based technology for crafting weapons. Meanwhile, it's been revealed that the Traveler seemingly voluntarily resurrected Savathun, the Witch Queen of the enemy Hive, and that she's using Light powers for her own purposes (which are definitely not allied with humanity's), with more cooperation from the Traveler than the Cabal were ever able to manage. There are Hive enemy who have Ghosts, just like a Guardian. There's a huge light/dark split among the Hive. Why any of this happened is still unclear, but the Witness seems to be on its way...
Thanks for the feedback! This video is from a while back before I really knew what I was doing with audio. Let me know though if my more recent videos have the same issue though and I'll look into it!

Just a small thing, but the reason why the traveller didn’t leave was because Rasputin stopped it by attacking it. That’s why the Traveller is damaged.
This was a big theory in D1, one which I believed for a while. In D2 though, they have disproved it in...I think Season of Arrivals? Basically, Rasputin has protocols to shoot the traveler to prevent it from leaving. It never activated those though. The damage to the Traveller is likely from it's confrontation with the Darkness during the Collapse

The Traveler is a huge ball that floats over your bank account and drains it.
Lol too true
Destiny costs like $12 a month to play but ok
@@kylemccormack1785 Not OK for me. It's not worth the money.
@@kylemccormack1785 how tf you paying $12 a month for destiny?

I’ve been playing destiny for years and never fully understood the traveller or ghosts until now. Thank you for this video, keep it up!
Glad I could help and happy to have you here!
you must read the updated Lore about the [Sky] that has been going much strongly now these Days.
can't just wait for some to translate, man.

Honestly, that's the exact reason I started these videos. Wanted to show my friends what Destiny was about and they wouldn't watch an hour long video
@@EmptyBerrythanks bro very helpful
Your videos are very good, very surprised you don’t have more subscribers. Keep making more content!
Thanks! I've only been doing videos for a couple of months, so this channel is still fairly new. Hoping to grow it more this year though!

@@TheNapster153 I read somewhere that the Traveler stayed on earth because Rasputin literally shot it down as it was trying to escape

Ya got potential, I'll give you that. Staying here to see how you do. Good luck guardian
Thanks for the support! Big things coming once Witch Queen drops
I was hoping to deepen my knowledge of the traveler but it appears as though not much is known

I get the idea that it created all life, so kind of like a god

I'd say the relationship between humanity and the traveler is more of a mutual defense thing
Is it really an ally? Or more of an entity that benefits from humanity?

If the Traveler opens up one day and a random alien walks out, it would be both hilarious and a let down
