  • If you are new to flying or maybe have not been in a long time, here's an uncut, full-length flight from start up to shut down. I'll fly over to a local towered airport and see if I can find my son on a solo flight in the pattern.
    Here is my list of recommended things to purchase if you are just getting started flying. Regardless of where you learn to fly, it is good to have these on hand. The FAA manuals can be downloaded for free but I still prefer to have a printed copy. You can purchase from Amazon here:
    AIRPLANE FLYING HANDBOOK amzn.to/3WmsIfi
    PILOTS HANDBOOK OF AERONAUTICAL KNOWLEDGE amzn.to/37XxsE2
    FAR/AIM amzn.to/3vkXsln
    PILOT LOGBOOK I recommend if just getting started: amzn.to/3zOxfxi
    and also download pdf versions for free from the FAA here:
    www.faa.gov/regulations_polic...

    I checked your channel out whenever you said you were from N Texas on the OshKosh landing. I grew up in Shady Shores and had a best friend in Hidden Valley. It’s cool to watch videos of people flying in your area!

    I just started flight training, I'm at about 8.5 hours. Found this video because I've been having some issues with power off stalls and landings. So I was looking up videos on power off stalls, landing and touch and go's.
    I enjoyed the video and I'm hoping one day I can make it look as easy as you did lol.
    Also, I was in the Army, 11B Infantry, 10th Mountain Division, so your son and I have a little in common.

    • @FreedomFlight1
      @FreedomFlight1  Před rokem

      Hi Kyle, thanks for watching. I’m confident you’ll get good at those stalls and landings. The more you do them the better you will get. If you continue to have trouble though, consider asking for another instructor for a lesson or two. Sometimes just hearing something explained by a different CFI can help. I wish you the best!

    I think it's awesome you have your own hanger and air strip where you live. What a dream that would be. Are you an A&P as well? I am and have always loved aviator. Great vedio. Loved it.

    Another great flight video, brought back memories, when I was taking lessons back in 1968. I ran out of money, but after I did get to solo. Would love to see some videos of you practicing some power on/off stalls. How do you get the shots off the wing tip and overhead?

    I just bought my first 1965 172F. Love your color scheme. I’m adding a 750 and GI275. What are your thoughts??? Love the content …. Btw- as a new pilot, I’ve done a short XC solo but still have that pit in my stomach and don’t really have fun up there. Always worried about stuff. Is this normal????

    • @FreedomFlight1
      @FreedomFlight1  Před 8 měsíci

      I love the GTN 750, am hopeful I can also add a few GI275's at some point, may have to settle for G5s though. Hopefully the more you fly, the more comfortable you will get!

    When do you start counting your hours for flight time? While you are in the air or at the runway?

    • @FreedomFlight1
      @FreedomFlight1  Před rokem +1

      Good question Chris, you can start logging your hours from the time the engine starts and until it stops, so it does include taxi time. Interestingly enough, many military pilots I believe only count the time airborne. Thanks for watching.
