  • I walk my longest day of the Southern Upland Way, covering approximately 20 miles between Minch Moor and Lauder. The original plan was to finish near Melrose but I couldn't find a suitable place to camp so I kept walking until it got late. I eventually found a small area I could camp in a fenced off woodland in a farming area.

Yeah That's true although the Tikka Masala actually does taste alright to be fair. I just hate how they charge so much for so little.

Life is good when you have the time [and energy] for as many hikes like you seem to do A!
That said, you do have a knack for punishing yourself with long hike-stages man! - if having enough drinkable water my choice would've been to camp at an unsuitable site - allthough with no lifestock near - instead of doing all those extra miles. Brave man ...
NB. Like the Tikka Massala much better than the usual spam!

Life is not as good as you might think Wilco, what would really make me happy.... to have a nice lady by my side. Until that day I shall continue to punish myself! On this day the main reason I walked so many miles was to be on schedule, and to get a very boring section out of the way. The Tikka Masala is ok but there is not enough for the price.

yes Brian it's always great to get tucked away in the tent after walking many miles, it makes going to bed worth while.

No I was careful, kept checking the hole in my trousers to make sure nothing was trying to bite me.

Hi Julie, completed the SUW on 12 May, so the midges weren't too bad then. They were out in full force in Glencoe though, not looking forward to being reunited with them later in the week, but it has to be done, otherwise I'll be stuck in my box with Big Brother and feeling suicidal, I'd rather be eaten alive by midges. I'm usually quite good at keeping them away with fires, Citronella Coils, Candles and Insect repellent. I might order a Space Suit from Nasa though just to be extra comfortable.
