Sales is simply about allowing someone to share something with you and you then use their thinking and words to package it and sell right back to them... communication is key, more specifically listening. Selling is in listening, not talking.

What I learned is to approach motivation from the 7 deadly sins. The sins reflect human motivation and if you are able to identify someone's "sin", you attack that angle.
Say, someone has the tendency towards pride. Tell them how your thing can help him stand out and get praise. Say someone is envious. Then get a famous personality to endorse your thing. Then, point out that the famous person has your thing.

Lust? Use sexy imagery, or dress yourself up, possibly provocatively.
Sloth? Sell them the convenience, deliver on the promise, and normalise that convenience so it isn't perceived as a luxury.
Greed? Create an illusion of scarcity. Make offers that are good only now. Point out the "savings" from buying more. Worst cases are, of course, outright scams. Sell the dream of getting everything you can imagine, quickly.
Gluttony? Do what McDonald's does. Show scrumptious food eaten by happy people living active lifestyles, totally not getting fat.
Wrath? The military industrial complex. Make people fight. Sell both sides the means to beat each other. Or the media, and possibly politics too. Cater to "a side", and show how stupid the "other side" is. The more angry they get at the image you create, the more you make.
I don't really know how to identify them quickly. I'm a learner at this as well. I guess it can start with asking "What are you looking for?"
I would like to think that eventually we can be more driven by the 7 virtues. Until we do, the reality is these temptations exist, and it's up to each one of us to grow wiser.

This advice doesn't apply for dating unfortunately. I tried it and my market research led me to believe that women want an attractive, well groomed, in shape guy who's charismatic, confident and has a sense of humor. After getting this information I spent years transforming myself into that man, went out confidently into the dating marketplace knowing I was bringing exactly what they wanted, and got 0 investor interest. Turns out women lied on the surveys en masse.

I grew up with a twin sister and got "advice" from her and her friends. Literally the worst advice I've ever gotten they don't even realize what they are attracted too. Nothing gets a girl going like being socially validated by someone else. Basically if you have a history of girlfriends girls see it as low risk, if you don't they see it as high risk. Best advice I can give is lower standards to get any girl possible then use her for social validation as you work your way up. I design products, if my designs are two far ahead of what is deemed normal from society everyone doubts them, kinda like how a majority of people don't understand the appeal of VR. Who psychology is more approachable, the guy walking into the party by himself, or the guy walking in with a girl. Got to used mindgames against them.

In general you're right, but that kind of thing doesn't always work. I'm a very fit guy who's very outgoing. I can be in a place, know half the people there, talking to them left and right, approach a girl with a fun, flirty, confident attitude, and she still wants nothing to do with me.
Honestly, in my life, what I've learned is this: if the universe likes you, you'll succeed no matter how hard you try to mess it up. But if the universe hates you, you'll fail no matter how hard you try to succeed.

Not only can I not identify what is causing it, no one else can either. Most (all) of my friends think I do great with women. I know that because they ask me for advice or talk in a way that assumes I got laid very recently.
The few friends I've told the truth to either didn't believe me or were completely shocked.
I even went out with a dating coach once, in a one on one bootcamp style. He was at a loss for words at the results I was getting. He said something like, you're an attractive guy, you're clearly in great shape, you have no problem approaching, you're confident and not nervous or fidgeting or anything, you carry the conversation really well...I don't understand it, we've been out all day...I don't understand why you're getting the results you're getting.
So yeah, at this point I've built myself into the attractive guy I can be, talking isn't an issue, and I've tried all kinds of approaches, high energy, low energy, focusing on the girl, not focusing on her etc. etc. But nothing seems to work.

@@fuzzypanda1684 You don't ask a fish how to catch fish. You ask a fisherman.
Also, none of that matters. Looks don't matter for men looking to get a girl. It is just an additional cherry on top or extra whip cream. You are thinking of it how us guys think about women which is wrong.
Money, looks, status, etc don't matter. You don't even have to be charismatic.
Men like physical looks and I am sure women do too but it isn't has heavy weighted as it is for men. women look for something else.
Men are logical and women are emotional. All that matters is you make them FEEL a certain way. You can do that in many different ways but all that matters is being able to do it. Most people use the money, looks, status, etc to make it happen but you don't necessarily need them. I don't have money or status. And, I think I am average looking at best. If I'm actually stunning then my answer would be you just need one.
There are fat, ugly guys who have smoking girlfriends. There are guys who are homeless, not well groomed, clearly poor and they still have a girlfriend. There are guys who are average looking, average build, have no car, no money, but still get girlfriends. Not only that, their girls gave them money and drive them everywhere.
And, what ryan said with social validation helps but only gets them to the door. Once they walk inside to find out all of the food is garbage and they don't like it. They will leave. However, a lot of the time the women will sit it out thinking they can fix the problem but it doesn't happen. It typically leads to very toxic relationships.
