I just love there are two young dudes getting shit done with their hands. So refreshing. Nice work
As someone with OCD and an odd obsession with numbers the first thing I noticed was your mileage is 142142. Lol. Nice truck!
Todd D thanks man!
To me it's just broken in. Time for performance upgrades..
I meant the number pattern. Not that it had high mileage. 😉
Lmaoo! Didnt even notice lol
Dude, that sounds insanely good before and after! The headers are a great buy! Tune it now!
You’ll love the headers on your top end you’ll see gains
A good tune would help for sure
I love the color of the truck, my dad has the black one with the shiny specks. I really wish he would get it cammed
I have a 2019 Ram Limited I just did a forged 6.4 hemi swap with a cam and ProCharger supercharger. I still have. The stock 5.7 headers on it. So I’m looking into ordering a set of long tube headers for it as soon as possible. I was considering the kooks because they seem to be the best. I’m happy to see that they seem to improve the sound, but not necessarily make it louder. I do tow with the truck. I also currently have a muffler delete on the truck. Thank you for the informative video. The truck looks and sounds great. I’m sure you’ve done some more work in the last couple of years. I will have to check out more of your videos.
Appreciate it man! That truck of yours sounds like it’s badass!
Hey man, I’m interested on some more info on the 6.4 swap you did. What was needed other than the engine itself? We’re you able to just drop it in using the same trans, motor mounts, etc… how hard was the process and what did it cost roughly
Cool blog guys thanks for sharing! I have a 2012 ram that I want to header work on and your video motivated even more to do so!
God i love my 1500. Just did my headers before Christmas. I put in the ceramic bbk shorty headers. So much extra response
Manifold bolts popping so I'm looking at shorties. Still loving yours?
Did the bbk shorties about 2 years ago and now i noticed i have cracked welds by the collectors. Went back to manifolds with ARP hardware. See how that holds up.
My son bought a hiflow cat , he started having trouble ringing in his ears , we took truck to muffler shop moved tips back to rear bumper , all good now and he has headers too! Really woke up his 360 it will smoke both rear tires now!
I don’t know if you already got your catback exhaust for the “raspy” tone, but perhaps getting a pair of 5” exhaust tips could eliminate the raspiness. The tips give it a deeper tone when you do a cold start or hit those initial RPMs.
It sound good running down the road...
I just noticed you had or have an SHO. I have owned a few of those over the years. Wish I would have never sold my 91 plus. It was an amazing car after I finished it. Damn I miss it more now. Great video but I'm with you I'd definitely have to get rid of the raspy sound.
I'm looking into these headers paired with the corsa sport sound 3 in cat back single with 4 in tips
What did you find? I have corsa sport on mine and am looking into headers
That ratchet sounds like a pissed off chainsaw in need of a carb tune. Truck sounds really good.
What's with the baby revs? You wont really hear the difference until 3K RPM or higher.
3 years later but just seen this video, these trucks come factory with a 4k rev limiter in park or neutral. U have to get it tuned to remove the limiter which is stupid ash imo!
I gave same ram did a muffler delete for $100 thing sounds amazing
Probably amazing as it wears in
make a vid after you put on the flow master and delete those resonators
You want cams that’s what you want
I only got a 2 inch straight pipe sounds just like that
Truck looks and sounds great! I'm gonna put this on my 2017 Ram!
Thanks man! And you’re gonna love it!
@@Shooff3.4 did you feel increase in pushback to your seat...thats all I care about.
@@360VRStudios he should. Especially with a tune. Definitely.
A tune with intake cat back exhaust and y pipe and long tube headers? Yeah he should get a 60hp to 80hp from everything.
If you still have those stock Goodyear Wranglers, you need to get a better tire.
You're laughing about it the entire video, but without being all knowing or doing proper math, the answer is that; the exhaust pressure is less now, so the exhaust temperature is colder now. Cooler exhaust is more dense, and thus your exhaust transfers more sound over the packed atoms. It is also possible that the flow is slower, which might be understood as louder. ftw
I think yall need to tune the engine to recognize the headers
Yeah it's not a Tesla , you don't need to install a driver and reboot when you change exhaust parts...
@@DL101ca Yeah, yeah you do. That's probably why it throws codes now.
You clearly don’t know anything about engines lol
Loaded the tune before I even started it.
Don’t just exhaust it put a lil power into it. My 03 5.7 1500 ram has Gibson exhausts, K&N air filter and power programmer it’s a fast powerful truck. Still has a bunch of life in it for being a 203k mile engine
Just got a 2010 2500 i want to do this so bad but im scared of stripped/broken bolts 😂
Looks like you still have the resonators on
Long shot that you answer this question but. What did you do for the egr? I have a 2014 with the 6.4 and in the middle of doing the long tubes but my factory manifold has egr hook up and the long tubes dont.
Unfortunately to answer your question my 5.7 doesn’t have EGR so I never had to do anything with that
Awesome video's! I have a 2018 Ram 1500, and it has the famous HEMI tick when it starts up cold. I'm positive that I have a broken bold on the passenger side. I understand that this is a common problem with these Rams. The headers warp and break bolts. Everything is stock on her. With that being said, I need to buy some new headers, and I am considering a different cat back exhaust system as well. I want more rumble, but not too much. Are you happy with these headers you installed? Looks like you installed them two years ago? Any issues? I was thinking of the BBK shorty headers, any experience with those? What would be a good cat back system? Thank you in advance!
So yes I’ve had these headers since this video came out and these headers have been fantastic! Absolutely no issues with them at all. I personally wouldn’t go with bbk because there’s a lot of people out there that have problem with them cracking. If you’re not wanting to spend close to 3 grand for just the header system which I totally understand, the best option for cheap in my opinion would be American racing headers. And as far as cat back, I would just kind of look up videos online of peoples headers/cat back combinations, I went with the MBRP cat back, and have videos of that cat back on my channel!
@@Shooff3.4 Thank you for your reply. What year is your Ram?? Yes, I've heard of those BBK's cracking as well. I will check out the headers that you bought, maybe they have a shorty version? I'll look online. Why the long header verse shorty? What's the over all difference between the two besides the length? You mentioned in your video that you wouldn't buy shorty's. Much appreciated!!!
@@tony2tiger1 it honestly depends on what you’re going to end up doing with the truck, Shortys are good for a factory replacement for more power and better sound out of stock manifolds, but the long tubes are gonna make even more power, so like for my truck I race the truck and want the most out of it possible, and since I was already there I wanted the best I could get. Shortys might get you 10 or so horsepower where catless long tubes could get you like 25-30
Are you missing a brake pad?? When you are cutting the y pipe out I can see the brakes and it looks like you are missing a pad?
No the outside of the brake pad has dots on them
nice video. picked up a '14 ram 1500 5.7 stock motor just on 7" lift. this inspires me to get headers and exhaust. link to the headers you got?
Ordered them right of kooksheaders website, right at the main page you can type your vehicle in, and it’ll take ya right to it!
Anything hitting on the driver side? That shift cable still alive? Look like Auburn corn county along 10.
Yes everything is still fine nothing has burned or worn thru anything, and are you talking US10?
I’m going with these on my ram but people was saying you have to tune it as soon as you put them on your truck cause if not you’ll mess it up so…
You don’t HAVE to tune it right away, but the truck will just not be to it’s full potential if it was tuned. And you’ll have a check engine light for cats, even if you go with a catted option
@@Shooff3.4 well ima tune it because I heard from other racers that you have to tune the truck once you put the headers on it
It’s always a good idea to tune it, but I’ve done my buddies truck and 1 or 2 other trucks that I know of have trucks with headers that haven’t been tuned for months and they are okay. But it’s always a good idea to tune it
Awesome 👌 👏
Did you need to re-flash the ECU after the full exhaust system? Also did you notice any more torque down low?
You should get a tune after installing long tube headers yes. You can drive around without it just fine but to get the best out of it it’ll need a tune, and yeah I definitely did notice a little bit of a difference in the seat
@@Shooff3.4 Thanks. Yeah the headers add that "boom" note to the exhaust. You can hear the cylinder ignition impulses more. I noticed it on my old LS1 when I installed the Hurricane system. I just put a deposit on a 2023 1500 Express in the Grey. If they still had that dark blue, I would have chosen that colour. Would have loved a DT Laramie, but they are $150,000 over here in Australia. The DS Express is $107,000 drive away. I got one of the last DS models made. Would have been good if the DS still had a Laramie manufactured, would have loved those extra features like the rear window and the nicer interior with adjustable electric seating. The Express is bare bones. Pros in a way, less to go wrong, but some more comfort never goes astray. I looked up a full header exhaust, intake & tune over here... $8,500! 🤣
How do these hold up after a few Michigan winters? I know you posted the video two months ago so obviously you haven't driven it in the snow yet. I live in Michigan as well.
Being that these are true 304 stainless steel, winters won’t have any effect on them at all. Strongest thing you can buy, even stronger than factory
Now that you have made it throughthe entire winter have you had to make any adjustments and how are they holding up are they still looking new and rust free? I'm in Ontario and am leaning extremely hard towards these headers but also considering the JBA LTH as well as the price point is pretty high on these and I have a baby girl on the way so on the fence regarding price don't wanna upset the wife too much... I've noticed the JBA even ceramic coating are 409 stainless and the KOOKS are 304 stainless which is better. I've also heard the JBA don't seal nicely and have bad gaskets, what did you think of the Kooks did they come with decent haskets/hardware and have a nice clean fit/seal?
Sorry for long message just want to get as much information before spending that kind of money. Thanks in advance for your videos!
What headlight bulbs are you running?
Sounds so good
With a good tune for sure👍🏻
Did you guys have to re torque the header bolts after a few heat cycles? Nice vid btw.
I did have a couple that were loose when I checked them again, so yeah wouldn’t be a bad idea to check them after a few like ya said. And thanks!
Did a tune get rid of engine light?
On your passenger side there is a white and black tab on your o2s. What one is the front white or black
I did the same but my ceramic coating came off so I’m sending them back to be coated trying to track down a o2 light problem
What all do you have for an exhaust. What’s deleted and muffler and a that
In this video, it’s the 1 3/4 high flow catted long tube headers, and then the factory cat back with muffler deleted
Bolts on your manifold? What's that??
you need a tune now//diablo sport
How did you not start it open headers
Funny you say that, next video I post will have an open header start up...
did you have any difficulty except the oil dipstick? and did you only need the headers and the y pipe or you need something else too?
Nope just headers and y pipe and bolts and manifold gaskets
Can you past smog with LT headers and a tune Lol
They have both catted optioned, and California green cat options
Did you have a problem with the oil dipstick? I’ve heard of guys using a flexible longer oil dipstick
Yeah, I just bent mine to where it didn’t touch, and I could still check the oil just fine
Awesome, setup. Any drone? I’m looking into JBA Long-tubes. Anyone have an input on headers n such. Thanks.
Drone is hard to tell you cuz I already had a muffler delete and that had a bunch of drone. Long tubes didn’t make it any better if that helps
@@Shooff3.4 Thanks for the quick reply. I guess I’m just going all in. Fuck it
That’s what I like the hear!
Would love to put those on mine. I looked them up and man these are high. The ones I saw were 4 grand for headers and Y pipe. Are those the same ones you got? They look awesome though.
Yes they are, but this was when the epa thing wasn’t so bad last year, now they’ve sky rocketed
Last year I picked these up for 2k
@@Shooff3.4 I got ya. I didn’t even know about that and it’s effect. I guess I need to watch the news more but it’s so depressing lol.
@@Shooff3.4 Dang half price. Good job. I wish they were in the sub 1000 range. I just got the leak and like others, thought why not through some headers on there lol. I tow with mine so really want lower end torque. Anyways thanks!
It sounded more throaty to me if you asked me.
It did sound good, camera just didn’t pick up the rasp
@@Shooff3.4 Yeah, but I definitely heard a difference.
Definitely could tell a difference from the first start up after install
How much louder would
You say they are with the headers
It’s noticeably louder at high rpm, idle just a tad louder, not as noticeable
Would you have gone short headers instead or are you happy with the long tube and how it sounds
Long tubes definitely give a better and more noticeable sound, along with better performance, I’d say if you are able to buy long tubes definitely buy long tubes. It’s not like buying shorties is worse that stock, but if you’re gonna do it in my opinion I’d just go all out and do long tubes
What exhaust are you running?
so after some time, how has the headers hold up, perform, tune, etc. any plus to fuel economy, towing?
Headers have been amazing, no issues what so ever. Fuel economy didn’t notice any gains, and truck is a race truck now so I don’t tow with it. But when I got it tuned and had headers on before I changed the truck, thing did tow way better. But otherwise after 2 years these headers are still amazing, no quality issues
@@Shooff3.4 awesome thanks. Tuner recommendation?
I’d go with FRP (Flyin Ryan Performance)
How much does it drone on the highway
Did you have to mod your pcm to get the tune? And also with the headers did you notice a good performance boost without the tune …? I’m kinda weird when it comes to the tuning part and messing with the computer/brain of a vehicle
Headers will give you a performance boost but you will have to get a tune to make full use of them.
The oil dipstick? Any difficulty? Please help I want longtube headers
I just bent mine around the headers while making sure I could still use the dipstick
Not header related, wondering what tires you are running.
Those are 275/60/20 Goodyear duratracs
@@Shooff3.4 are they good in winter.
Absolutely, loved those tires in the winter
What tires did you use towards the end & size?
275/60/20 duratracs
Put a X pipe
So If i run looks long tube headers and their catted mid pipe i won’t get a code?
You’ll still get a code, catted or catless because it’s still less of a cat than stock
I have a ram 1500 with a corsa cat back exhaust and res delete and am thinking of getting these headers how are you enjoying them or do you have any other reccomendations
I’ve got no problems with them at all they have been great so far! If I were to recommend anything I would say go catless right away, especially if you have a muffler, idk what you’re interest is in sound and stuff but I would go catless right away if you wanted some more power and the most sound out of the headers
@@Shooff3.4 I would love to go catless but they do state inspections here and that would fail me on it thinking of getting their high flow cats though
I could have told you it was gonna sound the same... its still manifolds into a single
Can you post more videos of it
Before Idle : 09 vs After 17:27
What tuner are you using? If you said it in the video I missed it
Jay Greene
Did you have to modify the firewall any
Nope!
One guy doing a long tube header review on Summit Racing website said he would have too. Then took them back. I think it's how good you are working with your mind and hands.
How many of those o2 extensions did you use, just that one?
Yes at least one, if anymore it was two. But I believe it was just the one
@@Shooff3.4 That's good to know. I was under the impression 4 were needed. Thank you for responding
No problem! They do give you four just in case but I know for a fact I still have at least 2 of them sitting in my garage at home
Not sure if you’ll see this as you posted this video 3 months ago but could you shoot me a link to these?
kooksheaders.com/my-vehicle/2012/Ram/1500/ST/V8/5.7
Completely off topic here but what size are your tires?
275/60/20 duratracs
Stock
Do catalytic converters come with those headers?
You can order the Y pipe with or without cats
What website did you order those from? Thank you for answering back.
@@crawling86 no problem! I got them off kooks website, can go onto kooksheaders.com and put your vehicle in and find what you want on there
What part number are these headers ?
Not sure. They’re on kooks website
@@Shooff3.4 gotcha looks like a 1500 buck kit now
@MOPAR6080 I don’t doubt it, stuff has gotten pricey last couple years!
@@Shooff3.4 bet appreciate the info in the video….. doing a eagle head swap thing they’ll clear the frame on my truck!
Parts number?
Hard to tell on video but it sounds deeper. Probably just needs Nitrous and a Turbo.
How was it after it wore in?
Absolutely fantastic
Where’d you order these from
Kooks headers website
Where did U get the headers?
Kooks website
Are theses 304 SS or 403 SS ?
304
What year is it big dawg ?
2012
Whats the exhaust set up ?
Not one just pipe
Did you watch the video?
Exhaust is stock with cut muffler
Do true duals... thank me later lol
so after all the cost and time installing.... was it worth it ? did it sound better ? seems to have a nice tone when your on the gas
Definitely worth it, gives you better performance and allows for better air flow especially for future power adders
Lifters and cam fail on your Ram yet?
Nope 143k still running good and I beat on it a lot
@@Shooff3.4 lucky
They will, I have 260000 on my truck which a 2012 and still running .
@@patricklandis3910 might be running but I guarantee that engine is ticking.
Well just keep it serviced don't be cheap butt on Miles, according to Mopar lots of hemis are seeing 275 k with good maintenance some even more fresh oil , watch idlejng time at lights it helps kill oil pressure
Did you delete cat?
No, I should have an I regret not going catless. But i went high flow cats
No tune?
Yes it got tuned
Was it driveable without tune or did you have one ready for it? Thanks great video buddy!
Oh it’s definitely drivable, just check engine light will be on and it won’t drive to its full performance, but it’s not necessary for it to drive around like normal. Thanks man!
Did you pick up any hp without a tune or did you feel a difference in speed
I put a tune on it and will be racing it at the end of this month so we will see if I picked anything up!
Wheres the race videos after headers and new tune?
I'm sure you noticed a decent difference. My 07 gained alot from just headers and cai with a canned diablo tune, them i csmmed and custom tuned it and it was a whole nother animal again lol
Taylor Carter will be the next video posted shortly!!
does your truck have a ticking noise?
It did yes
Clapped
Thanks
"it looks like crap" "it is absolutely terrible" "pretty good in my sight" "yea it is" .
you buy chance wanna make up your mind and stop letting other do it for ya?
this bs starts at 2:30 right when you took the parts out of the box, you knoww the ones yourmechanic should have the first touch on.
You must be old and deaf. If you were able to hear correctly, I was talking about the factory exhaust when I said it looks like crap. And then my buddy said “pretty good looking y pipe” and I said yeah it is. Think twice before commenting and looking like a dumbass
