    "So I'm going to go to Record, Play Start." Hits self over head with MPC repeatedly due to taking a few days to find this video and a few before trying to work out how to record audio. Many thanks!

    Great to see people showing how the MPC's can be used in different ways. I really enjoy seeing others, like yourself, TubeDigga and MPC Head with differing approaches for different styles, it really shows off the capabilities. Even if I'm aware of what you're setting out to do it's worth watching as there may be something I've missed that helps me along or gives inspiration. I record my bass thru an old SH-09, gives it a little something special, bouncing drums thru it is great too. Keep up the good work Matt.

      Thanks for the comment. Audio tracks in standalone mode is why I bought the MPC again. My first MPC was the MPC 1000 a long time ago and I tried recording audio into audio tracks with JJOS but I just couldn't get into as much as I could with a computer. So I sold it. Now that we have access to audio tracks with the MPC X it changes the game for me. I enjoy all styles of music, but my original instrument was violin and then guitar. I started using samples on DOS using Fast Tracker. Now I feel I can combine using samples and acoustic instruments efficiently in standalone mode with the MPC X. It is my goal to help others create music. Love music and love making it and love playing it. I think there are many people out there that feel the same and I think we should all do what we love to do no matter what anybody tells us. TubeDigga and MPC Head inspiring individuals. Both great at their craft and are both good people. Again, thanks for your comment. Talk to you later.

    Interesting video Matthew. I've got the MPC One on order and I'm planning on using it to record live instruments. A non-linear DAW-free recording and arranging tool.

    Added note. Copy a track from another sequence will only work if the orginal track from the orginal Sequence has events. No events will not allow you to create the copy of a Sequence as demostrated in this tutorial.

    I’m using audio tracks a lot! I record separate tracks without stopping my sequence (like a « classic » looper does), than I stop it and create drum programs for each track, to free up 8 tracks again, and so on.... Sometimes it’s not minimalist at all, with tons of drums/synths/guitars/bass/scratch layers, but I can’t help experimenting lol

    • @MatthewStratton
      @MatthewStratton  Pƙed 4 lety +1

      NICE! That is a great thing about being able to load any audio in the sample pool to any program type that can take audio recordings. Good to hear of someone using the audio tracks so heavily.

      Matthew Stratton Yes. Before discovering sampling (about 15 years ago) I was recording music with a 4 track tape recorder lol, so actually with the Live it’s really fast and inspiring, particularly with samples and audio tracks, combined with midi, bounce/chop/divide fonctions, effects... all these things that were missing a little bit on my old Tascam for example đŸ€ŁđŸ€ŁđŸ€Ł

    Great content Matt! Very inspirational and I just had to subscribe. One question, does the MPC one also have guitar/bass plug-in capabilities?? The MPC X is an amazing machine, no doubt, but I am leaning towards the MPC one due to its affordability. Any info will help, thanks!!!!

    Im trying to record a bass into the MPC software, but the volume is too low, so then, i have to lower whatever other tracks are running to be able to proper hear it, its a Pbass pasive, hooked to a behringer UM2 interface into my pc to the MPC sofware, im following the steps above when i get to (2:59) i cant go above that -20 db even if the volume on the bass and the interface instrument gain/volume are all the way up , im using an MPC ONE as a controller how can i crank up the volume?

  • @fellpower

    Plug in the Instrument direct is not cool. The level is not enough for a good and dynamic recording. ill prefer an preamp for that situation

    Hello, is it really possible to record a Guitare track like on a Logic Pro on Mac? Are there good patches of midi sounds to play with a Midi Keayboard. Patches like trumpet, saxo, flute, basse; drums, ... acoustic? Thank you very much for your vidéos and your answer.

    • @MatthewStratton
      @MatthewStratton  Pƙed 3 lety +2

      Well, the MPC X has an instrument level input so you can plug instruments like electric guitars and basses directly into it with out needing a DI box.

    Great Video! Mpc x has the arranger function? What the limit of the audio files? Thanks

    • @MatthewStratton
      @MatthewStratton  Pƙed 3 lety

      You make songs on the MPC buy making several sequences and then stringing them together in song mode. There is an 8 audio track limit in standalone mode. There is 2 gigs of ram but only maybe half of them is usable for audio. If you use it in controller mode the audio files are limited by your computer.

    Hey Matt long time subscriber. Does this work with the live. I bought a bass two years ago and I couldn’t get it to work...

    • @MatthewStratton
      @MatthewStratton  Pƙed 4 lety

      Yes, there are audio tracks in the Live. For best results use some kid of instrument pre amp on your bass and then plug the line out of that into your mpc live. The mpc live inputs are line level. Even if you plug your bass straight into it should be able to record into an audio track though.

    LOL Don't really need to see how to plug the bass in :) Presumably we all know where the socket is? Seriously, good stuff though...
