Fort Boyard on Steam: store.steampowered.com/app/10...
Fort Boyard is a european game show I have never heard of that is a little like Legends of the Hidden Temple but for adults. There's tigers and treadmills and...maybe real fire? What a trip. - Hry
NL's gameshow arc sure is a wild ride.
I can only assume the other three selectable characters are the other 3 streamers this game was made for
I fig'd the other three characters would be Bravo, Well played, and You did great.
Richard Ayaode is one for sure.
NL at the character select screen be like
EA Sports. I'm in the game.
Schlag den Star and now Fort Boyard? NL taking us on an european cultural tour and I am here for it
Hes doing a 2000s Entertainment trip I guess, now he needs to finish it with a Cod Modern Warfare CZcams video and he should try routing his own Pokemon Heart Gold Nuzelocke lmao
The "Well Played!" "Bravo" etc reminds me of Fable when you show off a trophy in town and all the village people are supremely impressed by your severed giant bee head
this isn't a game this is a fever dream come to life
i would definitely describe the early 00s obsession with athletic game shows & mystical backdrops as a fever dream yea
damn i remember watching fort boyard on tv as a kid, that shit is classic in france. i remember the bogdanoffs making an appearance as scientists
there was a british version as well and i remember loving it!
same in the netherlands man im geekin out
It was also popular in Quebec
I'm loving finding out that this was an international phenomenon, I loved the heck out of the british version.
I remember trying to recreate the show on a playground here in Russia when I was about 5 years old.
The swedish Fort Boyard i still running, we can’t seem to get enough of the concept xD
I was always jealous of the French original who played during the evening with torches and a Gandalf for Father Forau. We had an ex skiing champion from Dalarna shouting at contestants during day time.
yea and the first seasons they had normal ppl playing to win cash ..now days it is only celebrities' right ?
@@Ayay01 yeah, a mix of classic celebs, retired athletes and CZcamsrs/reality tv celebs.
Think they give the money to charity nowadays as well, but yeah in the beginning it was “ordinary” people. Still fun to watch though, depending on who’s on, but it’s not something that I plan for, like back in the days.
We got Tom Baker as the guy in the tower in the UK version
Ah, I remember it. This was one of the most popular shows in Russia for a long time. The short king is named Passé-Partou btw.
Passe-partout, means goes-everywhere!
I used to watch this show whenever it was on tv, as a kid. Good memories.
Out of the game shows? It certainly was)
@@volvok7749 learned that from Around the World in 80 Days
@@volvok7749 like my dog
"Canadian game shows where they just ask you if you can parallel park"
They don't even make you do it, you just have to have to be honest. that's the challenge.
Really hate getting transformed in mumy
This was legit the best gameshow on Swedish television in the 90's.
Not only did losing contestants get locked in a cage up in the guard tower for like 4 hours until the show was over, but they actually had to run amongst tigers in the central courtyard while collecting gold dubloons by hand to pour into a huge treasure bag, which would determine how much money they got at the end.
And to actually "free" a jailed contestant, someone had to sacrifice themselves by literally, and im not shitting you, swimming in a flooded pitch black basement with a key in their mouthes, hoping to god they actually find the exit before they succumb to extreme claustrophobia (which some contestants legit had).
It was fucking wild. It would never happen in todays media landscape, it'd be cancelled day 1.
Just wanna say Lion's Den is a really cool idea and it delivers just the right amount of pog straight into the cerebellum.
I used to watch this with my grandfather. This is bringing back a lot of nostalgia.
Gosh, I remember this from my childhood. I didn't quite get the concept and was basically waiting for them to fall and fail. Good times
Oh my fucking God. Fort Boyard... That is SUCH an insane blast from the past man. That was on Dutch television like.. 25 years ago and i LOOOVED that shit as a kid. (yes im fucking old)
Im gonna tell my kids this was Vsauce
All I can think of is “Chef Boyard” whenever I see the title of this game/show
dude i thought it was a cooking game because of that lul
Man, those are some nostalgic memories! Fort Boyard, loved watching it as a kid
The post-challenge celebrations give me some real strong Teletubbies vibes.
Ok but an actual legends of the hidden temple game with multiplayer would be pogged to Mars
I hate it when I get transformed in mumy.
Fort Boyart was a cultural phenomenon in Greece i remember watching it as a kid and the guy hitting the gong still haunts my dreams
This is a show I watched growing up on summer vacation in France, thank you for the call-back. I hope you enjoyed the game. On your point of it seemed like a great game, it was, they had famous people play, whatever they’d won at the end of the night through the boyards were sent to the team’s charity of choice. To answer something else you’d said, it isn’t really only for children, the clues are harder in the game and it isn’t a multiple choice answer. Plus, there were fear-trials (they famously would tie clues on tarantulas or in insect hives where you’d need to open it with your mouth.)
Finally, “pass-partout” means “go anywhere”. That’s the translation if you’re curious. :)
Again, thanks!
Well Played!
Bravo!
15:14 Solution ain't gonna help you round here! I just saw a mumy!
Im guessing this wasn't a thing in Canada. Here in Sweden it was quite a thing when I was a kid with several seasons. From the game here I see certain things must have been the same between the Swedish and the international version (or whatever version this game is copying). The location, the little persons, the strange old man (though in our version he lived in the tower of the fort) and some of the crazy challenges. Specific to the Swedish version: The amazing Gunde "Skynda Skynda" Svan hosting the program.
Wow and the music is the same. Suddenly I realized I was humming along. I had no idea I remembered that song, the things that are stuck somewhere in your brain from your childhood.
Fort Boyard is a real place in France, where the series comes from originally, I recently drove by it, you can see it from the road
I cann't believe they made a Fort Boyard video game. I've been haunted by this show's existence since I was a kid, it was actually the inspiration for The Crystal Maze.
The real location is between several islands just off the coast off France between La Rochelle and Rochefort. Amazing setting for a fever dream game show. POGGED
I'm loving all the variety that's being put out its some great stuff my dude.
Anyone remember on the show where they had to play a game in a cage with a load of tigers
Thats the show this game is based on, fort boyard
If you mean a game to get the key, there is the Safari he plays at 5:20
@@Hussam_B this is exactly what i mean
In the finale of the show when the timer runs out after collecting the treasure, tigers are released. No kap.
It was only late last year the tigers got banned from the show because of animal cruelty
Oh man that music when you collect the money is so nostalgic.
This is the content I am watching you for mate! Solid gold.
Bruh we saw this show in the french classes xD weird memories
I love the Dark Souls backstab/parry sound when you win, specially in that Jump Showdown round
Nl responds complicated geography questions in german without braking a sweat.
Nl reads "passe partout" After not failing any trial.
"I don't know what that means"
It's a game show that's fairly popular in France, celebrities participate in order to earn money for associations.
A lot of rooms in the fort have these trials in, so they have to run from room to room to get keys and hints.
There have been some arcs since the show started, i remember when I was a kid, père fouras wasn't such a dick.
beliv it or not but in the show they put you facing you'r fear , and evry thing you hate and all this in a at sea fortress , all having a lovly time throo sevreal day's in the early season of the show , and all the candidat rase money for charity ,it's part of my child hood and was a blast participating a big thank to the dévs for recreating that magic
I can't believe at no point NL called this "Fort Boyardee". Such a miss.
Ah yes Fort Boyard, or the prisoners in the fort, as it's know in Danish.
Passé Partout is the little guy that leads the contestants in the show from door to door
This brings back some memories, this gameshow was also a thing in Belgium during the late 1990 early 2000’s if i recall correctly.
this varierty of content lately is just poggery at its finest.
Still a show in sweden, even the little guys are there
I used to watch this show (the Norwegian version) as a kid 😂
Egg is so powerful they put him in Fort Boyart
A video game made by aliens who have only watched game shows and the Shia LeBouf "just do it" video? This is fantastic!
You know how much I used to love this show NL? It was amazing back then!
Ok, so what I'm missing from these like twitch VOD videos is the usual kinda explanation or like context stuff from something like a Let's Look At.
What is Fort Boyard? What is this game?
Put simply, Fort Boyard was a gameshow where a team had to complete mini challenges that contributed towards some big final challenge - if you've heard of Crystal Maze, Fort Boyard is basically that but with live animals. This game is an adaptation of that gameshow, a bit like the Family Feud/Millionaire/Price is Right games NL has been playing.
To add to what Jindo said, Fort Boyard is filmed at an actual 19th century sea fort of the same name, which adds a lot to the show
I used to watch this when I was a kid, but instead of this you'd have to retrieve keys from jars filled with spiders and things of that nature :D
Finally: a game where you can play as prolific CZcams presenter Simon Whistler!
those cutscenes make me feel like im having a stroke
10/10 content
I remember this from my childhood. It was the tightest and coolest game show.
Ahh yes Fort Boyart my fave.
oh god, I had forgotten about Pere Fouras and Passe-Partout and this dumb game show, my family watched this like every weekend in the mid/end 90s.
We had this in Sweden too, the same fort and challenges, but with Swedish presenters and contestants. Apparantly they made a different version for each country.
You just pogged every French sub's gourd in a single video!
Bravo! Well played!
man i rember when this was on tv but we had the french version but it was so fun to watch
As a person who used to watch this as a kid, I deem this game very pog and would like to see more
I'm so glad this game exists because for the longest time I was sure I had just imagined this show as a kid.
it's still running too hahaha
This reminds me of the UK tv show The Crystal Maze.
Yeah it's very similar except the appeal is in watching athletic people in skimpy shorts instead of Richard O'Brien's sensual scalp and leopard print blazer.
There was a UK version with Tom Baker and some bloke who I think was on EastEnders or something
Well played!
Poggy, he actually managed to find other game-show like video games.
That is some cursed voice acting, but highly pogged content nevertheless.
Before this comment section, I didn't know this game show existed outside of France :D
Glad to know you all shared this experience.
How is NL literally in this game, Fort Borvat.
If only it was a lion on the shirt
Ryan better upload more Fort Boyart before I get transformed in mumy.
My favourite streamer playing a Fort Boyard videogame? Consider your French audience heavily pogged! Cocorico my dude
i continue to be pogged
I'm glad NL didn't get transformed in mumy
WAHA WELL PLAYED
Back in the days, the show had one of the challenge involving trying to find a clue among the "tattoes" on a naked woman ...
The 90's where a very strange time indeed ...
Holy cow! I remember I used to watch this TV show with my parents in the 90s and early 2000 on France 2 :)
However I don't remember Père Fouras being the bad guy and his riddles were much harder.
18:45 man that theme! Nostalgia
Well Played
even in his wildest dreams he's still bald
Ah damn it was so popular in Poland like 15 years ago, so nice to see it again
Was it really THAT popular though? Can't remember people talking about it too much, except when Pudzianowski embarrassed himself, that was pretty funny.
the motion capture on this game is better than 90% of AAA games!
was this a fever dream? I think this is a fever dream
The most shocking thing here is that this isn't an early access title, this is the final releasep
It's like those games you'd be getting with gaming magazines back in the day,for like 5€
clearly NL should do a watch party on Twitch of the actual show :D
You love to see it.
Holy shit I used to watch this show every day
As a French I can assure you this show is siiiiick, it's so good
Holy scarabs! I would fund more gameshow type games just for NL to play them.
yeah-ha! well played.
Theres no good reason for the graphics to be so good
Takeshi's Castle as conceived by Joe Exotic
the show this game is from originated in France in 1989 i believe and is going on to this day
- 'JACK. The door.'
-*cute music*
this is just a poor man's crystal maze dude
What even is this game, I love it
Imagine a world in which we got Dan Gheesling to compete in Fort Boyard. It's a beautiful dream.
The dwarfs were the best part of this show
If you ever feel down, this game's for you: No challenge and you get cheered on a lot
used to watch this in french as a kid :)
I choose to read the logo as Fort Boy-ar-D
This game is like if Saw was just a friendly game show.
Edit: lmaooo he literally just said this at 13:10
Jeez, I watched this show as a child and I can tell you the "celebs" they chose were "special" but the games seem quite accurate to a point.
So this is the crystal maze by another name
11:00 Ah. I see the problem here. The English version of Fort Boyard was a _British_ TV show. In the UK, no one _not_ on a military special operations team is allowed to own or handle anything sharper than a roll of toilet paper. You can't expect that big honkin' sword to cut a rope in less than three swings.
