    Video opening the broken module! Several good videos on CZcams showing water intrusion location. Would be interesting to know root cause of failure in module. Extra points for soldering on new caps and the transistors to fix the old one. Nice work!!

    Excellent troubleshooting video. My truck was running fine when I shut it off 2 years ago. Upon starting it recently, it started, ran rough and died. Now, no start. The ICM was full of water, swapped it out. Replaced the cam position sensor, fuel filter, IPC, and put a gauge on the HPOP. Finally towed it to a diesel shop, and 6 weeks later, I owe more than the truck is worth, and it still isn’t running.
    They’re telling me that it needs 2 injectors, and if one stops up, it can prevent fuel,from getting to all of the injectors.
    Am I being had by this shop?

    • @GenerationsLodge
      @GenerationsLodge Před rokem +1

      @@KITS_Auto_and_Truck_Repair in all fairness, it was I who replaced the parts before I finally decided to take to someone else. The Injector Control Module was full of rain water, so I condemned it. The IPC, cam sensor were cheap enough, and the fuel filter had 148k miles on it.
      I talked at length with the mechanic yesterday. He was a Ford tech for a dozen years, and trained other techs on the 7.3, 6.0, and the 6.6. I was impressed by his knowledge and thoroughness, but the bottom line is we’ve spent a lot of money and it still does not run.
      The only parts that don’t check out at 100% are 2 injectors (#4 and #6).
      Right now, I’m waiting for the shop manager to come back from vacation so we can agree on a not-to-exceed repair cost.
      The no-start condition is being blamed on the tank of bio-fuel that has now been in the tank 4 years. I didn’t know that bio-fuel has the same issues as ethanol gasoline when it sits too long.

    How to you test the 12v supply side of the injector driver for a shorted driver with a test light? I connected the test light to battery positive and and touched the test light to injector driver 12v supply to injectors. The test light was flickering. I know the light should only flicker on the control side when the pcm pulls them to ground. But it shouldn't flicker on the supply side, positive to positive should it? Did I do this right? Have I confirmed supply side injector driver shorted? Need a second opinion to confirm I did this test right please.

      @@MrMsMexican that's weird, disconnect the Injection pressure sensor on the driver side cylinder head and crank it with the sensor disconnected and see what happens, if that doesn't help, crack the fuel lines going to each cylinder head on the back of the engine next to the turbo then crank the engine, fuel should come out of those lines while you're cranking it... Good luck, let me know what you find
