This is an Awesome video Dr. Berry !! You make me sooo Happy telling people this diet can be done without spending Mega bucks on food items .. Not sure if you have heard about Butter Bob Briggs channel . I found him when I started my Keto journey 3 years ago and he was also helping people on a budget or low income . I'm Healthier than I have been in 10 years - 50 pounds lighter without always buying $ 50.00 pieces of grass fed meats . etc ....Far as I'm concerned I think we are only getting half truths about those foods - Grass fed - pasture raised - wild caught and Organic . Sure they stick a sign on them , but who really knows unless you can see where that food comes from ?
Can I drink olive oil and Himalayan salt w/out a gallbladder?
Thanks to anyone who answers that knows!
Happy Keto😎
I would like to see a video on keto for vegetarians without having to eat 6 eggs a day
Setup a room in your house like a studio and invest in some relatively cheap equipment. Get a nice background and watch your subscribers soar.
1. Chicken legs, plus if boil the bones you can make bone broth.
2. Ground beef - get the highest fat ground beef you can get
3. Eggs - his personal favorite - you can also add these to a variety of recipes
4. Avocados
5. Greens - e.g. collards, kale, spinach, turnip greens. = e.g. can saute them in bacon grease with or without eggs thrown in.
You are so kind to make this video for people on lower incomes... how considerate of you, thank you!
HELL YES HE IS CONSIDERATE WITH ALL OF USSS I FEEL REALLY HAPPY WHEN HE SAID OK THE CHICKEN LEG HAS SOMETHING INJECTED SOME ANTIBIOTICS BUT ITS EVEN BETTER THAN THE CHEETOS AND SNICKERS 🤣 AND OF COURSE THE HOTDOG WITH MUSTARD 🥵🤩
He is. He made me cry. God bless him.
Hotdogs with mustard ftw!
Yes thanks
So everything on the shelves in most supermarkets is just soy& corn pumped with tons of fillers, artificial shite tasters,it's not food. Subbed because of this Doc telling the truth&common sense 🤗😀
This is spot on! I lost 54 pounds in 90 days doing OMAD and eating nothing but keto friendly foods from a chow hall in Afghanistan. No supplements, no snobbery, no BS. This ain’t rocket surgery folks.
That's an unhealthy amount of weight to lose in that time
@@llllllllllllllIIlIllIIllIIIIll Yes. Yes it is. I was bored. I had nothing else to do but dodge rockets and absolutely OBSESS about my carb intake to see if keto actually works, and it absolutely does if your life doesn’t get in the way. Well, I was in the position where my life wasn’t going to get in the way for several months, so I decided to do a super strict diet and exercise regime to pass the time.
Looking back at this comment, I apologize for sounding like such a douche. That’s not how I meant it.
@Cod3Thr33 . Same here. I lost 55 pounds in 3 months eating carnivore, no dairy. Of course, I wasn't dodging IEDs or rockets either. Great job and thanks for what you do.
@@jerricreamer2144, what you did was WAY more of accomplishment than what I did! I didn't have "distractions" like, well, you know...a LIFE! My whole life was eat, sleep, work, work out. Great job!
My God, this video is worth a thousand fold. Dr. Berry should get a gold medal for community service.
I TOTALLY AGREE!!!!👍👍
Amen
Definitely, Thanks Dr Berry from South Africa.
agreed. he is a God send. And he is well compensated from CZcams. Well deserved.
Community service??? Or a paycheck?
I've been on keto going on 8 months i never had a wild caught or grass fed anything and yet I'm 47 lbs down.
Hi, Tracey Dixon It has nothing to do with how much you lose weight, glass fed meat/butter and wild caught fishes, it’s all about vitamins, omegas and avoiding cancers causing chemicals containing in animal feeds, I guess
Tracey Dixon what are you eating? Vegan is the way to go😁😁
Bacon grease???? Straight to the arteries. Hmmmmmm.
Paula Adesokan no way to much fiber makes me at bathroom to much Bm’s
Paula Adesokan this is for better brain functions which has proven to do that
1. Chicken legs
2. Ground Beef
3. Eggs
4. Avocado (not cheap)
5. Greens (collard, kale, spinach)
How about using Avocado Oil as a substitute for eating the fruit? Would be more cost effective?
Depends on where you live if they are cheap or not
Get avocado on sale... Look out for sale in various store and stock em up in fridge, cuz in fridge they will be very slow rippen.
At the 99cent store they're 1.99 for 5-7 of them 😊
You can also cut them up, dip in water with lemon juice (so they don't turn brown & yucky looking) then freeze the chunks. They freeze very well. They often run about $2.50 each where I am, sometimes more. Winter is long where I live so many months without local veg. Expensive for spinach etc too.
When I look back though & think how much I was OK with spending on crap food... then these veggies are not all that bad expensive :)
Tip: around Thanksgiving buy a couple extra turkeys when they’re on super sale and keep in the freezer. Cook them later and get lots of meat for like $0.25/lb
I am a student in South Africa and I really appreciate how you try to help those of us who are not in a good position financially. Thank you very much Dr. Berry, your work is appreciated all over the world.

I am a registered nurse of 26 years . Trying to get low fat out of my mind . I am seeing keto work . I forgot how good real butter tastes. God bless you for spreading the work . Cheap carbs and fast food is killing our kids and all ages .
Love the pun! 'how good real butter tastes. ....... God bless you for spreading the word!.........
Go to a bodega for cheap avocados, not Whole Foods lol.
@@goclick Also try Trader Joes Sweet cream butter, NOW that is truly delicious when paired with their frozen riced cauliflower, scrambled eggs and bacon, i call it my 'breakfast fried rice' !!
@tharvey311 why are you being a dick? Being a nurse is one of the most unhealthy professions diet-wise there is. Most nurses are overweight, and are constantly snacking. Also it is assumed that they know more about health because that's their main thing. They were taught the science of high carb diets for a long time. I think you should apologize to her even though this is the internet.
tharvey311 and your comment was tacky and rude. We are not impressed
'wild caught on a full moon'.. Love your humour!
Lol.
Fish are difficult to catch in a Full moon
So full moon makes it better? Like werewolf?
I got rid of all my wild caught salmon! Package didn't mention anything about being caught during full moon! Thanks for that info👍...not.
Don't forget the "grass fed, panda massaged" beef
I've lost 120lbs in 2019. Doing this!! People ask what I've done. I eat FOOD. Like the real stuff. And I lose the weight.
Amazing !! Excellent job well done 👏👏👏👏👏
How u lose the weight?! I need to lose 50 lbs
How do you know you don t have too much toxins in your body due to so much unclean eating (I do it too but am worried though) ?
What menue did you follow?
And you did not need to cut off any excess skin, right? Keto magic.
I had two very ripe avocados so I mixed them with 3 boiled egg yokes and some mayonnaise for delicious avocado deviled eggs. Delicious!
Avocados are also good as a substitute for mayo. Also, two peeled and pitted avocados blended with sweetener, a can of coconut milk, a teaspoon of vanilla extract, and a melted bar of baker's cocoa, then frozen, makes keto ice cream. Looks weird but tastes great. Got this by tweaking Dr. Gundry's mint chocolate chip ice cream recipe.
Yolks
That sounds delish! I'm going to try it.
Very ripe avocados are black and no good to eat. Yuck
Since I have become Keto Adapted, my food consumption has dropped, Im just full all day burning the fat. Therefore I started buying higher quality food and spending the same money. Down 30 lbs since 10/22/17.
I definitely agree. The higher fats in my diet including Keto Coffee of a morning has drastically dropped my food consumption as well and I don't get hungry much. I've included intermittent fasting and am currently on a 18/6 ratio with keto coffee in the morning. I find that if I do hungry during my feeding window, fats are what I want, not sugars, I'm lower in weight now than I have been in 25 years.
Yes! Good job!
The Keto diet is a high fat, low carb diet. I tend to think of it more of a lifestyle choice and not a diet. This is not something that I do for a short time to accomplish a goal. It's something that is part of my life now. I have found recently that too many proteins are also a problem. It increases my blood sugar past the point of where I want it (Just over 100). But mainly, I am on an 18/6 plan ... I fast from about 6:00pm to 12:00pm the next day. I usually have a cup of bullet proof coffee in the morning which does not break my fast. It includes 1 tbs butter, 1 tbs coconut oil and whole cream. Usually my lunch (is more like breakfast) 2 strips of bacon and 2-3 eggs. Then I do dinner (before 6:00pm) that includes about 6 oz of meat and lot of veggies such as broccoli, cauliflower, brussels sprouts and, kale, muchrooms or other low carb veggies. To date, (after 2 months). I've lost 22 lbs, my waist has reduced 3", my pant size down 2, my blood sugar ranges from 70 - 95 either fasting or 1 hour a meal. It's the easiest thing I've ever done to lose weight. I feel great, my energy is extremely high, and my stats are doing well. I'm looking forward to my annual checkup to see how my labs are doing.
Pinky & the Brain, I drive a truck, so for days a week it's two 12 Oz bulletproof Coffee with 50 grams of fat each, a 6 Oz grass fed hamburger with mustard, celery, broccoli, spring mix salad with a keto salad dressing, pecans, and macadamia nuts. The other days it's a variety of foods at the house, bacon, eggs, avocados, steak, chicken, Brussels sprouts, cabbage etc
Good for you! And yes, that is what I have experienced too.
You are so right Doc! Grass fed organic is great but it's not a must. I lost 134 lbs in a year eating whatever I could afford at the time and got healthy, didn't HAVE to have grass fed wild cough anything. My story is on my channel. Great video
AlvinaRayn
I am down 98 since June. 44 to go to my initial goal, which is 20% body fat. 10 more pounds if I want to go to 15%.
AlvinaRayne did you count calories?
Janet Duffy No, 95 % of the time I did not. I mentally tracked my net carbs and ate only when hungry.
Down 104 now. I journal everything I eat.
I've been aware of the ketogenic diet for several years, and persuaded enough that I would have adopted it were it possible. However everything I read, every video I watched, all of them said that I absolutely had to eat organic everything, grass fed beef, pastured chicken, etc., etc.. I looked for the cheapest sources I could find for those organic options and crunched the numbers. I would have to spend literally four times my food budget to make the change. If I started keto, I would have to spend my rent money on food. And so for years, I continued to eat a high carb diet, convinced that keto was only for rich people. All those people (excuse me, but frankly assholes) who basically lied to me, seriously harmed my health by feeding me their bullshit bias.
I don't remember who clued me in. It might well have been Dr. Berry. Around nine months ago I discovered that the 'organic' mantra was optional, that keto would work just fine with the foods that I could actually afford. Since then I have gone 'cheap' keto with exactly what Dr. Berry recommends, chicken, eggs, etc., bought on special from my local supermarkets. In that time I have lost eight inches off my waist (5 more to go), and a myriad of health issues have vanished.
I want to share a trick I use to keep my costs really low. Very importantly, I have a chest freezer. This allows me to stock a large amount of food. What I do is I watch the fliers of my local supermarkets, I check them every week. When I see a great special on something I actually use, I stock up. I buy at least enough to last until it next goes on an equal special. I do this especially with ground beef/pork, and chicken quarters (by far the cheapest option in my part of the world). I buy maybe a month's worth of eggs when there is a good special (they last longer than most would have you believe). I also keep about 120 eggs frozen as 'emergency' reserve (the eggs are cracked and beaten before being added to freezer bags). I also watch for specific frozen veggies like spinach (my favorite). I don't just do the stock up for three months using specials with food, but with anything I use regularly. This way I spend less than half the amount of money most do for their groceries.
Oh, and having a three month supply of food and other consumables on hand helps placate my prepper urge.
i feed a family of 3 (ages: 53,52,22) for soy free eggs, grass fed ground beef, sardines, anchovies, liverworst, grass fed stew meat, rib eyes++ for around $600/month.
@@brakeme1 $200/person/month is still more than a lot of people have disposable income available to spend. Best guidance is to do what you can with what you have got, consistently striving for a "daily better"
This is fantastic advice!
Chest freezers don’t use up a lot of electricity. They’re so handy for stocking up.
This is grest advice!! Most us are watching our food budget nowadays!👍🤗
Awesome comment Peter Cohen! Great info! Thank you for sharing.
I like a avocado with a can of tuna mixed together with no bread just the tuna and avocado mixed in a bowl
Lettuce..put it on some lettuce, seasoned with mrs dash. The crunch heightens it all
Love using affordable oily sardines in a can, mush them up with basil oil (cause I grow my own) and top it off with parmesan cheese, scooping them up with Romain lettuce.
Costco tuna is awesome.
Look at the label before you buy tuna...most of them have soy.

You got this! Your best is good enough...
Thank you for this comment!!! I have been keto for a little over 2 months and I'm down 17lbs that I have kept off even over the holidays when I messed up quite a bit. Some lady had a fit about using sugar free chocolate chips vs. Lilly's chocolate chips....claimed that I only care about looking good outside and not about being healthy inside, it wasn't even my recipe!!. I told her that some people don't have $9 to spend on Lilly's so all they can afford is the $3 Hersheys but either is gonna get the job done...yes you're insulin may spike a little but it's still WAY better than just eating regular sugar. Ugh! People just need to do what's best for them 😞
Disseminate means to spread info not weed out the gist of it.

Not if insulin sensitive. If u R diabetic chemical fake sugars turn to sugar in your blood just like real cane sugar. Take your vlood sugar reading after eating sugar free choc chips..u will see.
Bravo to you, Dr. Berry! I'm so tired of hearing "organic, grass-fed, free-range, etc." I'm a single mom with two teenagers and I can't afford that. So nice to hear someone who uses common sense.
Find you a blue pill guy or a naive guy to take care of your kids so you can do the right keto........... goodness gracious single moms are everywhere.....Jesus betrayals

If you have an Aldi's, their grass feed ground beef is affordable. It's actually cheaper than our big, HEB grocer.
Thanks for this video, I've lost 130 lbs in the last 1.5 years eating the things you mentioned. Budget keto works
Awesome! Now share your story with the world because so many are suffering and don't think they can afford keto

Thats what a year and a half of keto OMAD did for me
@@pcarter1778 Hi, Can you please share to us what are the foods you eat everyday? I also do OMAD and it helped and healed my fatty liver in 2017. I want to incorporate keto but don't know how to start because of budget too. Thank you in advance.
@@sweetmac17 hi, I find locally that I can get boneless skinless chicken breast for .99 a lb. I stockpile that in my freezer and eat it buttered to get my fats in. I also eat ground beef and mixed greens with white wine vinegar. My weight started at 367 now I'm down to 211. On omad I found that fats are my friend. How nice from you to say that! Those fancy keto people make people think if they do not eat pasture raised meat and free range eggs, they're screwed. When I begun my keto journey, I had no money enough for paying my bills and to buy food, so I had bone broth , salads and eggs.Once a while I had meat.I cooked with lard and used butter for a occasional fat bomb dessert and I've lost almost 20 pounds within 4 months and the most important, all my pains were gone. For these reasons, I keep on ketoing.Nowadays I can buy salmon and fancy vegetables since my financial situation changed.I can do better now, but I don't despise the hard days when I had so little to eat since I refused to eat bad carbs, despite people 's criticism, I kept eating what I could afford.
Yes! Get what you can afford. Much better than the SAD!
Now that’s wonderful. Cheap keto paved the way for your success in the present because you’ve been healthy and your brain functions amazingly. I still buy cheap stuff like pig and cow organs that have a lot of nutrients and fat. I make bone broths from bones I bought for almost free. Eating well doesn’t have to be expensive.
Yeah I don’t eat much either
Meat is unaffordable to me and greens and avos are too. Farmers eggs are $3 a doz so I eat $5 for 3 doz crappy store ones. No taste. I use 1c crappy store milk in my coffee too (thruout day) to try to keep leg cramps at bay from lack of calcium. I rly miss my giant huge salads I was eating but I gotta buy food for my kids first and we have like $40-50 a week for 3 ppl. I fast alot but I use coconut milk then in my coffee so I can go 72 hrs easily. Someone bought me a case a few mos back. Each can lasts days.
Thank God for ketones!
People always slam the southern way of cooking collards in bacon grease as the cause of obesity there. Who knew that the big gulp Mountain Dew and Cheetos had anything to do with it? ;-))
sazji I know what you mean! Been thinking about the same thing lately, as I've been cooking"down home" food and seasoning everything with meat!🤣
sazji hooray for diet Mt. Dew! Did a seven day fast incorporating Diet Mt. Dew.
People blame the lard and bacon and eggs southerners have and somehow miss the biscuits pancakes flour gravy grits cornbread and 7 super sweet cakes per occasion. It’s mind boggling
I think you're on to something there👍😎👌
You know everybody ate like that in 50s and 60s and most people were skinny
"You can saute 'em in bacon grease, my personal favorite." That was the most comforting phrase said in a beautifully soft, southern accent, that I've heard in a long while. What a great video, so encouraging and compassionate. This is what a healer does. Love & light, from Canada.
Thank you, I was annoyed by one doctor I watched on CZcams in particular who insisted that everything must be grass fed, organic, wild-caught. I commented to his page that I would do so if he paid my grocery bill. Thank you for your real life down home wisdom. ✊🏼

I wait till they are soft. I put a few out on the counter to ripen and the rest go in the fridge to bring out later in the week. They have a small window that they are ready to use. But so worth it. Potassium 🙌🏼 💜
And fasting costs $0
Allyson Muir why would I fast and have my body build fat cells as if it’s starting..you need food
@O Malley Exactly! Thanks for helping to dispel the old wives tale myth about fasting. I lost 130 lbs fasting.. I ate one meal per week for about 3 months. Took daily vitamins and salt water. No exercise. Ppl have not believed me before when I've told them about it, but it's true. Stayed naturally thin after that for 20 years until recently started slowly packing on the lbs... About to do it again. If anything, it resets a sluggish metabolism.
OMAD yey! people think I'm nuts especially cus I'm not overweight, but it allows me to afford to eat much better food and it's easier to organise and it's sorted all my digestive issues that were causing me to feel sluggish. I don't think I was absorbing all the nutrition in what I was eating properly.
Yes. Love free!!
Fasting + a keto’ish woe helped me burn up 55lbs in 153days.
Avocados: buy on sale! Wash, cut in half, whack pit with a knife (and twist knife) to remove it. Scoop out, place face down on waxed or parchment paper, freeze, and when frozen put in a Ziploc bag. To thaw, place in a bowl and squeeze lemon all over to prevent it browning (if you care about it turning). Mash and add to salad or eat with veggies.
Greens: Buy in bulk if cheaper, and freeze in smaller bags. (Wash first, of course, if not already washed.) Use in smoothies, soups, or skillet veggie dishes.
THANK YOU! It is so encouraging to hear someone say, “It’s way better than what you used to do!” We don’t have to feel like we’re failing because we can’t afford the absolute best. Do the best you can do.
THANK YOU for this video! I'm soooo sick of elitism in the keto community! Maybe it's better to buy beef with a pedigree or eggs that come with a birth certificate and the parents' names included that came from the local hippie commune. If that's what is needed to achieve health and weight loss, however, count me out. The truth is that stressing out over the quality of the food doesn't help weight loss goals.
And the next time some chirpy keto guru says, "You can either give your money to the farmer or the doctor!"....grrrrrr!
Encouraging people to eat better is the right approach. Attaching it to the tyranny of perfection doesn't belong in the keto community.
Thank you for your leadership in commonsense keto.
lol you're funny! It's soooo true.
The bottom line is that at least people are attempting to get healthier. That should be the focus.

Awesome video!!! It’s super important to stress the benefits of these cheap keto foods versus the other cheap junk foods. THIS is good medicine.
I personally like buying whole chickens and cutting it up myself- super cheap, you put the different cuts in separate freezer ziplock bags, and you can save the bones and organs for stock. Ground bison is also fantastic- you can mix it with ground beef and get more nutrition since wild game tends to have more omega 3.
Wow, I wish I had seen this comment before I started watching the video.
Thank you for giving us that info!!
Not chicken breasts??
@@stacitowery4461chicken breasts are among the leanest cuts of meats. If you eat them on the keto diet, you are getting a lot of protein without the much needed fat to produce ketones. It may be good to coat it in a finishing oil or butter before eating it. Too much lean protein as a source of daily calories can hypothetically affect your body’s ability to stay in a fat burning state.
Thank you Dr. Berry! I legit ugly cried watching this video because it took so much stress off of me!
I love making (what I call), a keto hash. Ground beef, eggs and cheese. It's cheap, extremely keto friendly, and tastes great!
Ihatejeeps that sounds good I think ill give it a go.
Stephen B I like seasoning the meat with some Cajun seasoning or some hot sauce to give it a kick. I just brown the meat, throw the egg(s) in there and scramble them in with the meat then add the cheese, plus if you want to have veggies I haven't found one that doesn't go with this. I have this any time I need a quick meal.
Ihatejeeps wow! Great idea, thanks.
baby spinach goes excellent with this! My husband eats this combination for breakfast most days!
Sounds like it would go well with a little of a couple of the vegetables the good Doctor mentioned in the video. 😊

I love that you talked about saving the chicken leg bones. Since going keto in 2018, our freezer always has a “bone bag” going- we toss all the chicken bones in it, as well as the parsley stems, celery trimmings, and carrot ends.. when we have enough, I toss it all in a big crock pot, leave it on low for a couple of days then jar up the strained broth..after all that slow cooking, the bones are soft enuf, that I put them in the food processor and make “Kitty pate”- my cat loves it!!!( I don’t salt the broth, or add any spices, so it’s better for the pets)... win win win..
Thank you for that slow cooker method, AND the Kitty pate. I used to make raw food for my gurl (she is gone), but I could gift this pate to a neighbour.
Thank you ,

OMG thank you! finally someone thinking the same way like me! in all those FB keto groups or on those websites and channels you always hear: "you need the best quality and if you don't can or want to afford that, well... just rethink your priorities... or try again if you have enough money..." OMG, sorry for being just a poor student trying to change my life into a positive direction... :D
Lucky me..... I raise my own ducks, chickens, and geese. I have tons of eggs, tons of duck and chicken eggs, plus Lots of duck, geese, and to a lesser extent chicken in my freezer. If you have never experienced Goose Bacon (cold smoked goose breast) it is delicious and difficult to tell that it not pork belly. All of my livestock are organic and completely free range.
I realize that generally speaking buying organic foods can be cost prohibitive but it is not necessarily healthy to eat eggs from factory farmed chickens. Those birds are Salmonella carriers because of their environment. They are also fed soy to force egg laying. I do not feed my birds soy and only organic corn. I raise my own meal worms and mix my own soy free organic layer feed. My ducks and chickens lay an average of 300 eggs per year from each hen. 15,000 eggs per year. I can only eat/use about 1500 eggs per year if I ate 4 eggs per day. So I sell my excess eggs. I only raise enough meat birds to feed myself or to trade for raw whole milk or some pastured pork, lamb, or beef. 60 goslings become fat and sassy in the Fall and give me about 400 lbs. of delicious very fatty meat plus a gigantic pile of bones for broth. If people have a yard they should buy a gosling or two each Spring. A breeding pair of French Toulouse geese will give you 16-20 goslings each Spring. Geese are primarily grass eaters. No specialty feed required except in the winter. If you put all of the goslings in the Freezer in the Fall. The yield should be at least 140 lbs. of really succulent organic meat, bones, and lots of really delicious fat.
Awesome!
I wish I live next door to you man, absolutely awesome!
The best way to live!! We have a Pecker Palace full of egglaying queens, and we love it!! We've raised beef, chickens and ducks for meat, you just made me realize we need to do that again!!

I am happy 😃 for your life situation. Mat God continue to bless you.
You had me at “hot dog“
BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!
MSG headache yum
It’s so refreshing to see a doctor and fellow human being who doesn’t look down on others who are just trying to make their way in life. I just came across your channel not too long ago and I’m eternally grateful for all of the information you’ve shared! 🙏
Bless you! I've been feeling like I was failing bc I can't afford grass fed beef etc. I have to get regular.
I don't know if you will ever see this Dr Berry but thank you for this I'm broke 😂 fat and tired i started eating keto reading everything i put in my face and lost 8 pounds in my first month not the fastest weight loss ever but it's not a race and i trust what your saying and appreciate it. ❤
I've lost over a hundred pounds in less than a year, basically following the Dr.'s advice. I'm now down to the healthy weight I was in college, after years of being morbidly obese.
Slow weight loss is still weight loss and you'll get there. Just don't let perfect be the enemy of the good, stick with it. Hope you are still doing well.
As a student this video made me feel like I actually do eat healthy. I've had so bad conscience for having farmed meat because I can't afford wild caught and grass fed alternatives at the time. You're like a keto papa, thank you so much!
Hi, Dr. Ken,
I began eating Keto in my 20's---early 1970's.
Now, as a single senior on a very limited income-
and with significant health issues--I am STILL
eating Keto. But it is not so easy with such
limited resources.
SOooo....I really appreciate your tips, because
not all of us can afford the luxury foods. I eat
humbly, but well---with a Keto agenda, and value
your teachings and perspectives!!
I really enjoy your outlook, and your medical advice
also. Keep up the great work!!!
You left off canned salmon. It is wild caught. Also sardines. Two great Keto staples of mine that are wild caught and cheap!
how do you eat it . just fork it right out of the can or ?
@@Cream_CurdlR Salmon can be used many ways, my favourite, sardines, alas, is more difficult. Sardines on toast was one of my favourite breakfasts
@@vtbn53 what do you mean was your favorite breakfast?
@@Cream_CurdlR No toast for me now :-(
So now kippers are my favourite as you don't need the toast.
@@vtbn53 But you can make toast with a bread made of eggs, takes a little experimentation and a few videos to get what you like, but there are many recipes online for keto mugbread as well as other ways to make a bread-like equivalent with eggs.
You're my fav for all my Keto info, love your easy way about you, your non-arrogant approach, and great easy to follow info with a doc's background. Love love love your vids!! Keep 'em comin' !
I truly appreciate all of the research and time you put in to help us understand how to have all the keto items we need and still afford a roof over our heads. I've learned in this life that simplicity is key!! Sometimes individual can make something simple harder than what is really is .
I love the sincerity and the down to earth understanding of this advice
Thanks. I am on a fixed income and was having a horrible time affording the foods. I now can survive on these 5 things you have mentioned. Thanks so much!!!
And remember... we dont need to eat as much as we used to.
I love food.. but I feel better eating just one meal a day.
If you like organ meats, they can often big a good deal (even organic!).
Thank you for being honest enough to put this out there. Constantly being told “only grass fed, only organic, only free range, etc” puts me in a mindset of hardship and unattainable perfection. This helped more than I can say. I feel supported and understood.
Dr. Berry your honesty is rare and very much appreciated. I have tried keto before and failed miserably. I feel I would not have had such a bad experience had I seen your videos. So glad I found you! Thank you so much!
Every health video I search, this guy shows up and I ain't mad about it. Doing research on good ways to stay healthy and you've always come out on top
This is probably my favorite Dr. Berry video, because it brings this healthy message to a lot of people who need it most. Good on you, Doc.
Revisiting this video just to say i absolutely love to title ' Doing The Best You Can Is Just Fine' it often rings in my ears when i'm having doubts in many areas of my life, Thank you Dr Berry
We all just gotta keep plugging along. Do what you can with what you've got.
How did we ever find a REAL DOCTOR like you. ALL Doctors are usually for big pharmaceuticals ,and out for the dollar, they do not care about their patients. You are one in a MILLION. So blessed to of found you.
I love your channel and your message because you are realistic. You understand the people who are struggling to try to change their lifestyle and you help out without being a snob. Thank you very much.
I just found your channel, and it's GREAT! Thanks for the great info :)
I keep watching this Dr.s videos because he is down to earth.....and makes very practical and informative videos. He’s like a normal guy that happens to be a doctor and this is meant as the highest compliment. I am a keto beginner and I find Dr. Berrys videos invaluable and I always look forward to watching the next one! 🙏
You are a kind man, Dr. Berry. I am tired of snobbery in all its forms.
Thank you aw this from 3 years ago, at 67 I am feeling miserable with sluggish energy, inflammation, and a rotten digestion, thanks for giving simple advice on how to get started! You are one of the rare doctors that is for the people!
I love this approach! Small steps in the right direction, is still moving you in the right direction!
The bigger problem is not the foods that you can't afford, it's buying the new wardrobe because all of your old clothes are way too big.
Start going to thrift store until you've finished losing. Nicole
@@thepeddler9226 i live in thrift stores!
@@Tenshi252 My daughter too; then she upcycles everything.
rinds! May have to garge sales
Yessss! Lol
Dollar Store: Canned Tuna, Canned Chicken (add some Mayonnaise to make Chicken or Tuna Salad), Canned Sardines, Canned Tuna, Kippered Herrings.
I sure appreciate your encouragement and help. Thank you for answering all of our questions and helping us get healthy.
Just starting keto, on a fixed income, & so thankful for your videos Dr Berry! I care for 3 adults, all with different health issues, and felt keto/ketovore will work for all of us. I really appreciate all your help!
I like tuna with boiled eggs and celery mixed with real mayonnaise or avocado mayonnaise
ME TOO! Have you tried it with the chipotle avocado mayonnaise? (yum)
Thanks, I'll try it.I'm always eating eggs an sausage/bacon.
@Mez Ra real mayonnaise has less than 1g of carbs
Love how you’re so encouraging under any and all circumstances
My Tipps:
1. Do Ferments -> Sauerkraut is cheap kraut salt water thats it
2. Grow herbs / green onuons
3. Pickel onions - vinegar water salt & onions
I am a retired nurse and just started keto a few weeks ago. Ty for honest, straight forward information.
Thanks so much for this video, I lived on fixed income and it is good to know I can use these cheaper ingredients and not have to worry about doing all the high end buying! Thanks also for bucking the system and letting us really know what is going on out there!
3:56 is where the list of 5 starts
1. Chicken legs
2. Ground Beef
3. Eggs
4. Avocado (not cheap)
5. Greens (collard, kale, spinach)
I love this guys videos. He gives advice that REAL, ordinary people can use....and can do. He does not beat people up for not being able to buy the "expensive" foods. He gives you options.
Dr. Berry, I have just started following you and watching your videos. I would like to say thank you for being so informative. I love that you reassure even those of us on a low/fixed income that we can do this too! We don't all have the means to eat the most expensive foods but if we can afford hotdogs, then we can eat that! I have lost over 100 lbs myself. Because of health issues and 3 surgeries in the 5 months, I've gained 15 lbs and now I'm on a mission to lose that plus a few more!
I really enjoy listening to you, and I am trying the ketogenic diet. I love it, I am feeling so good. I am only six weeks into it and I am sure I could do this long term. I have been spending so much money with the dermatologist for hair loss with no improvement. Thanks to you I am going back to my Jamaican roots. I believe what you say. In my young days growing up in Jamaica I had such thick and beautiful hair. I remember my grandmother used to cook with coconut oil and also pork fat. Well I moved to the good old USA and thought I am living the healthy way, I was only 120lbs when I moved here. Now I was 174lbs when I started keto I am down to 166lbs, and hope to get to 140 good help me. There are so many videos and books on keto, so I am going to stop watching the others and stick with you because you make so much sense to me. Keep doing what you're doing. thanks
Thank you for acknowledging that not everyone has a large food budget!!! You are the best (Keto Doctor.)
Thank you for this video. Love your honesty and compassion for all of us.
Thank you so much for your kindness and empathy. How lovely to listen to you.
You are right! Keto is keto. People just need to do what they can to stay on this wonderful diet.
Hey if I cant afford grass fed is ok to eat the grain fed steak? And grain fed eggs?
Is it ok if I eat grain fed steak and eggs? I cant afford and I cant find pasture raised and grass fed in Perú 😳
Thank you, this makes me feel better. You have a new follower Dr berry
Love this guy. So genuine and honest. Thank you so much for those keto tips.
Thank you SO much for making this video! I was thinking about this yesterday driving home! I appreciate it, other Docs need to follow suit!
This was such a honest and kind video! Just what I needed to hear 🙂👍
Kale, collard greens, lettuce, chard, etc. are VERY EASY to grow at home in containers!!!!
Thank you, Dr. Berry! You’ve been a constant source of guidance and support in my two-year loss of 90 pounds and reversal of pre-diabetes. I have a rotation of inexpensive keto foods I fit in each week. Canned salmon, sardines, eggs five days a week, Brussels sprouts, broccoli, pecans, low carb yogurt (no added sugar)…I add cinnamon to the yogurt sometimes. Thomas DeLauer does a series of keto shop-along videos where he goes to Aldi, Walmart, dollar stores, et al. Thomas is very frugal and is upfront about not wanting to spend too much money.
Thank you for this video. I've been feeling discouraged for not being able to afford certain foods. What a sweet man you are for sharing your professional opinion ☺️
I can’t love this enough. Thank you for this. I am now considering this diet. Before I would not have due to just seeing costly ingredients.
Awesome! Share your progress so others can learn too!
Thanks for this! I have already been doing much of your suggestions. Down 23 pounds in 7 weeks!😊
Canned sardines, tuna, salmon in the packets.. these are super cheap and good.
This doctor Ken D Berry is changing my life one video at a time. . & I am so grateful... I wish I could say think you.
Going into my fourth week and I am already off my omeprazole, my ecitalopram is half, and I just quit my metoprolol, benadryl to sleep, and ibuprofen! ! Sooooooo happy!?
Thank you Doc!?
Congrats, Cathy!
How are things now?
Wow! Congrats!
Off your metoprolol in 4 weeks.......great job
I've watched so many keto-falutin docs out there. "Get grass get butter", "use avocado oil mayo". Sheesh! I'm not on a super restricted budget but $10 for a jar of mayo is rich even for me. I have many friends who I'm Keto-evangelizing and they are on restricted budgets. This video will be a great encouragement for them. THANKS!
kk70x7 you are so right! A newbie to this is held at such fear thinking "I can't even afford to get healthier through eating"... Hog wash! I too am now totally set free from that thinking thanks to this confirmation! And thanx again Doc😉
FWIW, I buy avocado oil at Costco and make my own avocado mayo. It's delicious and I know exactly what's in it.
Just wanted to add that Avocado oil is $6 a can right now! It'll make 2 jars of $9 avocado oil mayo lol
kk70x7 I make my own mayo, pennies a jar and delicious! I do spring for the grass fed butter but just because it is only another 20 cents a pound at my local store.
kk70x7 d
Much love to you and your family Dr Berry!!! Excellent coverage thanks as always
You are so very thoughtful to make this video Thank You Dr.Berry 😊
Thank you so much for this video!! I was so excited about starting my keto diet but got really discouraged when all I would hear from people is organic this grass fed that, I know those are the best options but it’s good to know I don’t have to drive my self nuts or my budget just to be healthy.
Do you live in or around the Quad cities?
