Season 5, Episode 7 "Mr. Monk Gets a New Shrink": Dr Kroger's cleaning lady is murdered, plunging him into such a mood of black despair that he decides to quit his practice, much to the dismay of Monk, who tries to coax him back out of retirement by solving the case.

Monk Synopsis: Adrian Monk (Emmy®-winner Tony Shalhoub) was once a rising star with the San Francisco Police Department, legendary for using unconventional means to solve the department's most baffling cases. But after the tragic and still-unsolved murder of his wife, Trudy, the devastated Monk becomes obsessive-compulsive. His psychological disorder has caused him to develop an abnormal fear of virtually everything: germs, heights, crowds... even milk. Monk's condition costs him his job, but he's back as a police consultant despite the unique challenges he encounters in his everyday life. These challenges lead Monk to hire a personal nurse, Sharona Fleming (Bitty Schram), who is always there to offer her assistance, even with the simplest of tasks (like organizing his sock drawer). Her less-than-subtle prodding keeps the "defective detective" on track in his investigations, as well as in his efforts to convince Captain Stottlemeyer (Ted Levine) to allow him to return to the force.

My favorite part of this episode has to still be when Monk goes through the 5 stages of grief in a loop.😂 Also, of course Harold would make taking a bullet be a one-upping contest with Monk over who cares about Dr. Kroger more.😑
I worked with kids with disabilities and those in trouble with the law. I had a student with me from the high risk team when I realized I had locked myself out if my room. "Oh no," I said. "I will have to go to the principal to get in and then have my file cabinet broken into to get my keys out of my purse."
The kid said, "Wait a minute. I can help you." He pulled a little kit out of his pocket and opened the door to my room. Then he picked open my file cabinet so I could get my keys out of my purse.
"How did you learn to do that?" I asked him in amazement.
"From my dad, but he's in prison now" the young man replied.
"Burglary?" I asked.
"No, murder." he said.
"Well, you better not break in here to get my purse because teachers don't have much money" I told him.
"I would never do that because I'm loyal to you and I need your help." he said with feeling.
I made him (and other students over the years) teach me everything they knew as I taught them to survive in this society. I learned so much from my wonderful, talented, brilliant students.
That guy is the sort of guy to massage his wife's boyfriend.

Wait, did the guy really live? They made it a very obvious point to show that he got shot RIGHT IN THE HEART, but he's going to live? Also I love how Monk was losing his mind at the guy rearranging the figurines. Now you know how everyone feels when you're doing your thing Monk.
the heart is much lower then where he was hit, at best it might have grazed an artery

he didn't get shot in the heart. the heart is further down and in the center of the chest, directly behind your sternum. i think years of people saying "the heart is on the left side of your chest" has caused a mass misconception of its actual location. the heart is irregularly shaped so its center of mass is slightly to the left but the location itself is pretty much dead center of your body. the place where he got hit - the upper pec area - it might have clipped his lung, which would be bad, and their are veins and arteries that run through there, but that area is mostly muscle

Doesn't have trauma experience, but he went through med school. He knows first aid.
Basic first aid is not what the guy needs. He has a bullet in him - he needs an ambulance to take him to a trauma surgeon! 😛

If the doctor can untied himself using his teeth why took him so long? I see 3 people with mental illness including the psychiatric himself. Over all the scripts writer and director not really concern with the theme of this movie
