    I absolutely love this video and cut. My Newfie has had major anxiety lately going to the groomer so I'm learning to self groom. Thank you for this! And my groomers never wanted to cut her hair short so now I know this style, I will try to incorporate myself.

    I really appreciate how you repeatedly said this is a commercial cut. And it’s really important that before people get a Newfoundland they understand that this incredibly heavy double coat serves the function of the breed. If keeping a heavy double coated (and very very messy dog) doesn’t fit with your life style or you can’t groom it yourself, there are many other much easier dogs to keep. Kitty has done a very good job showing the amount of work and time it takes to get this coat so short.

      hello G Erikson, thank you so very much, I appreciate your message. It’s easy if we have experience with this wonderful breed but many people and also many groomers are afraid to start scissoring in their coat. it’s not so difficult once you get started and have good scissors. I love newfoundlanders and use to scissor them for dog shows and planning to also make a video on preparing for the dog show.

    What a wonderful job you have done here. King was such a good dog to groom. You are really good at what you do. I used to allow 4 hours from start to finish of bath groom and dry and it was well worth what I paid the groomer, like you she had the table that raised up better for the dog and her back! We have had 4 Newfoundlands all with very different coats. Constant grooming makes it easier to manage and is better for the dog however, sometimes clipping shorter is a good option if the dog has skin problems which in the case of a newfie can quickly become major issues especially in the summer months. These dogs have a thick coat for a reason so cutting it back is something you have to think about carefully and not just do because you can't be bothered to get a brush out. Newfoundlands are high maintenance dogs and having one is a total joy, using a hoover once or twice a day and cleaning floors and walls was just part of my daily routine. Having a giant breed dog is not an excuse for a dirty home. Best wishes from the UK

    I wish groomers would do puppy's more because I have a 11month old newf and he doesn't always stay steal during brushing. He likes to bite the brush & my hand when I'm combing him. So he hasn't been trim at all yet. And believe me he needs a good trim. But with covid its so hard to get a groomer to do it.

    I love this breed along with a st bernard and I was just wondering to save your hands with all that scissor work, couldn't you use a 10 blade and put a comb attachment on top and go over the dog first to get the bulk off, then scissor the bits you need too

    • @TransgroomTV
      @TransgroomTV  Před 3 lety

      Hello Tracey, that's a good idea but the attachment combs wouldn't be long enough I am afraid. Also with the scissors you can stil style a little but with the attachment comb who follow the body of the dog at some places it would be to short

    It's 'Newfoundland dog' or simply 'Newf'. Not Newfoundlander or Newfie. A Newfoundlander is a person from Newfoundland (and a Labradorian is someone from Labrador, the mainland portion of the province). Newfie isn't a term all of us like. It seems like English isn't your first language and that's probably where this mix up stems from (meaning no disrespect whatsoever), but just wanted to point it out. King is stunning btw and thank you for the educational content

    • @TransgroomTV
      @TransgroomTV  Před 3 lety

      Hello, Yes you are completely Right. we can use ear protection. When dogs are really scared of the sound of the dryer, we use ear protection. But King is really Wonderful and used to the dryer. We don't need to use them and we don't blow directly in the ear. Thank you and take care .

    I wish I could find someone local to me to do a commercial cut on mine, I have two currently and one of them is so massive, his coat is so much thicker and so much more work that this cut would benefit him and us so much more. Would I need to look for someone who does more show breeds? Or should I be able to ask any groomer for this?

    • @TransgroomTV
      @TransgroomTV  Před 3 lety +1

      Hello Heather, thank you so much for your comment. Well not every groomer does big dogs like the Newfy . it's not easy if you working alone to da such a massive dog . You have to search for a groomer who is wel known with this breed and knows how to groom is ( even it's for the breed standard or commercial way ) There are a lot of very good groomers out there. sometimes breeders also groom their own breed . good luck . wishing you a wonderful day .

    • @TransgroomTV
      @TransgroomTV  Před 3 lety +1

      Hello Aiyana, Thank you for your message. Well we will be very honest to you. A brown coat is very very difficult to keep dark brown. In most cases they become grey or very light . You can wash your dog with color shampoo . that will brighten-up the color. But we know this is not easy. and its not always working .
