This year we focus on best practices for keeping onis away from your home altogether. Will I be successful this time?
In last year's video I talked more about the cultural side of this event, focusing mostly on "mame-maki", throwing beans at a visiting ONI to chase it away. (Follow the link in the description to watch that one.) In this video I discus various strategies for keeping demons away from your home on Setsubun. Which of these defensive strategies do/would YOU use? Or do you know of any others I might try? Or... how about a Japanese language challenge? I made one mistake in this video...can you find it?
Oh no! Not that creepy Oni at your door again. Way to go Jordan! I remember last year's video which was a great watch! Would you believe I forgot to buy lucky beans this year?! But today a very kind neighbour brought fresh sardines to make maki-sushi. I think we might be safe! And we have a goat! A baby goat and it's sprouting it's little horns. Perhaps it can fend off any evil or weird people.... ha ha
The sardine sushi should be enough. Even if not…tasty, right? 😆
For adults, it's a fun event, but for kids, it's the worst - all in good humor! 😄
