Vincent Prices' voice was as iconic as Morgan Freemans is today. There was no mistaking who it was.
I would James Earl Jones is another great voice.
That's a good comparison
His narration voice was iconic but it wasn't exactly his speaking voice. Morgan Freeman's iconic voice is just his everyday voice.
all great horror actors had a wonderful turn of pharase, voice: Karloff, Lugosi, Lorre, Rathbone, (Price of course), Lee, Cushing, Donald Pleasence, - and they all had a wicked sense of humor. Morgan Freeman's is like stale wonder bread compared to those.
Actors who had a shot at playing a Disney Villain / or other iconic villain : have a shot there as well : Hans Conried, Verna bloom, Eleanor Audley, James Earl Jones (also check out his Tulsa Doom), James Woods, Jeremy Irons, Anthony Hopkins,
they could read the telephone book and it would sell tickets.
I honestly didnt know him, but knew right away he was the guy from Edward Scissor Hands

His dry sense of humor gets me all the time! 😂

Here's a little secret: there are a few things Humor and Horror have in common:
Timing
Pacing
Tension and Release
Subversion
Surprise
The two genres appear to be vastly different, but they are as close as Professor Quirrel and Voldemort.
I met Vincent at a airport. He was the most humble man. I got to talk with him for quite some time while he waited for his flight. He loved talking about his past and was hilarious to boot. I asked to shake his hand he said no....may I shake your hand. Ill remember that forever.
What an honor!!! I’m so jealous!
That's a straight-up gentleman right there. He wanted to shake YOUR hand.
A wonderful memory! Thanks for sharing. Price was a truly unique character with many strings to his bow. Friendliness can now be added
And I'm so jealous!

I LOVED VINCENT PRICE AS AN ACTOR + LOVED HIS VOICE TOO.😁✌
Great voice too!
Mr Price is known primarily for the horror genre but he had great comedic timing. Greatness all the way.

Vincent Price was the perfect addition to "Thriller".
Michael was smart to put him in the song.
No doubt he got the idea from Alice Cooper. Black Widow did it first.
Michael didn’t plan it, it just sort of happened. Quincy Jones’s then-wife was a very close friend of Vincent Price. Also Rod Temperton wrote Vincent’s raps in the taxi on the way to the studio. It all sort of fell into place.
@@em7dim9 He put Mr. Price on there too?
@@JoergWessels Not only that, but Price's part is much longer. It's an entire monologue. Google The Nightmare TV Special and you can see Alice and Vincent do this live, but with the added pleasure of Vincent essentially stepping in to narrate the entire album!
I wouldn't say so myself. All known accusations aside, strictly following what I just heard, someone who thought it's appropriate to present someone a full-sized picture of himself as a gift doesn't strike me as smart or thoughtful.
Vincent Price was pure gold. That voice scared me when l was a child. Always great in interviews. And Thriller would not have been the same or as good without him. Calling Dr. Phibes.
And you know it.
Not just Thriller. I finally got to know more of the man when hearing his voice on 13 Ghosts of Scooby-Doo.
My brother and I were friends with the manager of the Lexington KY opera house in the mid 70’s. He was friends with Vincent Prices PR man. When Price did his one man show “Diversions and Delights” playing Oscar Wilde in Lexington, our friend hosted a dinner party and Price and his PR man came! We all sat around the couch listening to Vincent tell stories. It was a magical night. I have a signed playbill and a signed poster from Price. I will never forget that night!
I also saw Diversions and Delights bitd! The best story about Vincent Price that I've heard was from Richard O'Brien, who not only played Riff Raff in The Rocky Horror Picture Show, but Richard actually wrote the story and the songs. He basically is the creator of the Rocky Horror phenomenon. At any rate, before Rocky Horror became a popular movie, it was a very successful stage production. On opening night in London, however, no one had any idea about how amazing it would be. Richard O'Brien stood in the wings on stage looking out at the crowd in the theater, nervously waiting for the show to start, wondering whether all the work he had put into "his baby" would pay off. The lights went down, here we go! Just then a thunderstorm was going on outside, adding to the ambience, "it was a dark and stormy night". According to Richard, when the house lights went down, the theatre became dark, and just at that moment a flash of lightning happened outside! There was a skylight in the ceiling over the audience, and when the lightning flashed it illuminated a few seats directly underneath the skylight. Richard could easily identify who was sitting there, illuminated by the lightning, and it was none other than Vincent Price! Richard said he smiled at that point and took it as a sign that things were going to work out fine, as if his horror creation had just been blessed by the master of horror himself!
@@moeball740 that’s amazing!

Vincent Price was a gentleman, a gastronome, and very, very witty. He left the world a better place for having been in it.
Hear! Hear! 👏👏👏
Really...
Do you think horror makes the world a better place ?!!!
@@johnstarter777 Vincent Price's work in horror films absolutely does make the world a better place.
You just have to ignore the last 40 years or so of the horror genre slowly abandoning all pretext of story or plot in exchange for ever more exploitative and gory visual effects. At some point it went from 'horror' to 'slasher', there's a difference.
You dont think some entertainment makes the world better? why do you single out horror? How has it hurt people?@@johnstarter777
His working here definitely made the world a bit better. Not just for the joy he gave to people but also for igniting the sparks of inspiration in the minds of sooo many. Even till this day. And that is an absolutely honorable achievement.

Vincent Price, Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee were always a guarantee of a great film in the good old days.
Well said, I used to watch all of them on a late night show called, "Creature Feature" in the 70's hosted by Bob Wilkins.
I still remember the first time I saw The Last Man on Earth. At one point I was like, "Is Vincent Price the only person they could find that could act?" At one point I kept expecting the girl playing his blind daughter to look directly at the camera.
John Carradine also
I think this is the first time I've seen an interview with him, lovely delivery
Growing up, I spent many an afternoon in the theater watching all of their movies. Even now, occasionally, I catch one on TV.
Vincent Price was one of the very best that ever was. He has a daughter that has been keeping his memory alive for the younger generations that did not get to experience much of him.
Pure talent. A person that knows how to be funny with basic conversations in interviews like this is just pure gold. And VP was a master at it.

I will always adore Vincent. His movies kept me company as a child and into my early twenties. He was a true class act with a wonderful sense of humor!
Mr. Price had an old world feel to him on all levels: humor, dress, dedication to his art: he will always be missed even by those who only see him in video or hear him.
Since he was born and raised in St. Louis, Missouri and graduated from Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut, he must have picked up the "old world feel" when he attended The Courtauld Institute of Art in London to study for a master's degree in fine arts, and started his professional acting career at the Gate Theatre in London in his early to mid-20s.

Vincent Price also helped Alice Cooper on the album Welcome to my Nightmare 1975.
Just coming here to say that... from the time he said, "I did an album..." I immediately had "Black Widow" jump in my head...
Then when he got to the part of "...Michael Jackson" I thought, "oh yeah...he did that 1 too"
