This is the best sermon I have ever heard on this subject. It explains why so many evangelical churches are in trouble. I had to learn this lesson after much humiliation that was ordained by God. I learned that confession means forgiveness and freedom. God’s grace is sufficient for me. Praise God!
This and Ps. Doug's other 2 messages on Confession of sins were so convicting. I was so convicted that I took action before God and confessed to another.

1My little children, I am writing these things to you so that you may not sin. And if anyone sins, we have an ADVOCATE with the Father, JESUS CHRIST the RIGHTEOUS; 2and He Himself is the propitiation for our sins; and not for ours only, but also for those of the whole world.
Arguably, one of the GREATEST sermons I've ever heard on the importance of confessing our sins. This message has me being very reflective right now. God bless you, Mr. Wilson.

Amen, and I would love to know how to forgive "sisters" who never repent, never apologize and never acknowledge any of the wrongs they do?
It’s between you and God to forgive other people. They will not change unless God creates the change in them. You cannot love them without first forgiving them. If you wait for “sisters” to change, you will be waiting for the rest of your life. The change begins with you.
I could use more wisdom on this. Please. At one point, I confessed to a college professor about cheating on a test in his class (when I remembered it about five years later). I came to remember later that I had cheated on tests and or quizzes in many classes since at least fourth grade. I have confessed each instance to God that I can remember. Is it incumbent on me to track down each teacher and seek forgiveness from them also (fourth grade-high school)? I know I am forgiven by grace alone, but I still *feel* guilty about each instance until I confess it to the person. Is there a point where tracking down people whose names and addresses I've forgotten is obsessive and unhealthy? Should I confess all past sin to people after I confess it to God? If this seems God-honoring, I want to do it (though it would be hard), but some part of me is hesitant thinking it is obsessive to seek forgiveness from people who I am no longer in relationship with when it is ultimately God's forgiveness that I require. Please help.
It appears that the thief on the cross would not have been able to confess all of his sins to the people that he had sinned against, but yet he was saved. I think that what is most important is that you have confessed your sins to God (as all sins are ultimately against God).
Remember where the Psalms say "Against you and you alone I have sinned," to GOD - when that was after David committed adultery and murder.
What God forgives, you can't condemn yourself for. At what point is it unhealthy and obsessive to apologize for ever sin you've ever committed? To be honest, it sounds like you're already well within that unhealthy space if you're tracking down teachers to confess cheating that happened years ago.
Read 1st John. "Beloved, if our hearts condemn us God is greater than our hearts. And he knows everything!" Jesus said it is finished. That's true whether you feel guilty or not.
Where in the Bible do you find support to make amends with every person you ever wronged? And did you sin against a teacher when you cheated - or do they not care too much about it? God cares, however much he cares about it. He cares about us having a clean heart before him - and he solved that problem in Christ. You will not help God solve that problem by tracking down everyone you ever wronged.
That doesn't mean we don't make amends when we have a healthy opportunity to that will actually benefit the wronged party. But you can't do this right enough to make things better. If you could, Jesus died for no reason at all.
@kokopelli121123 - Confess your sins to mature, trustworthy belivers. People who will not judge you harshly nor withold something difficult that needs to be said, but who can say it with kindness. I also reccomend you read The Cure by John Lynch, as well as Gentle and Lowly by Dane Ortlund.

Mashiach was not the scapegoat.. he was the offering. See the offerings of Yom Kippur in Leviticus. The scapegoat or the one who all sin is laid upon or attributed to is the fallen one ha’satan or otherwise known as azazel, see the book of Enoch. That is why the scapegoat in Leviticus is referred to as the Azazel. Mashiach Yahusha is the offering that brings peace between man and Abba Yah. Not the one whom all sin is laid upon or attributed to. It very easy to see how this can be mixed up a bit, but knowing the Torah sets this straight.
Oh great family father help us all to Capasso sense genuinely on the chili for sake them to not lie about them but he genuinely confessed and saying them for what they are.
Since the first century, confession to a priest has always been the norm. This is not only biblical but historical as well beginning with the Didache (70AD).

define "stood." Intense devotion to the Virgin Mary the "co-redemptrix?" "Be with us now and at the hour of our death." Interesting that St. Paul never mentions her in umpteen letters about theology. God has judged the roman church multiple times now.
@@AdamSmith-ec5nv Co-redemptrix is not doctrine and it only means that she cooperated with God in His plan of redemption. The earliest prayer to the Blessed Mother was found on the original papyrus in the 3rd century so, where was your church or congregation in the 3rd century? The Catholic Church is the only one established by Jesus and all others have been established by men during or after the 16th century.
@@gregwademan359 and when Rome was full with preist having sex with prostitutes and selling indulginses and murdering unbelievers. Was the Catholic Church that was doing that still the church ordained by Christ. Nah. The church are those that have their faith in Jesus Christ alone.

Confession to God of individual sins by a believer is not a New Covenant practice as taught in scripture. Jesus, nor Peter, nor Paul, nor James ever mentioned such a thing. And the one single New Testament verse that all Christians run to, 1 John 1:9, is not even referring to believers, but to humankind. There is no condemnation for those which are in Christ Jesus, so I challenge every sincere believer to go study 1John and try to learn what he is really saying. Then ask yourself why ALL of Paul’s letters are silent on this sacred cow of confession. Could it be that the gospel of Jesus Christ and Him crucified had no reference to confession of sins after conversion because it was not necessary? I think so.

Does this mean we would do nothing each time we sin or make mistake. Doug is not saying once you sin you lose your salvation but sinning hurt our relationship and happiness with God.
