  • The question we are all wondering... What Comes Next For Universal Islands of Adventure? Will they build the rumored Zelda themed area at Universal Islands of Adventure in the coming years? With Universal's Epic Universe opening in 2025, we have to wonder, what will Islands of Adventure add next to follow up the amazing Hagrids Motorbike Adventure & Jurassic World Velocicoaster! I share my thoughts & predictions on what I think Universal will do, and it will blow the competition out of the water!
    If Universal would add this new themed area and include the attractions that I share in this video, then watch out, because it would be a massive move.
    What do you think about my ideas & predictions? Will Universal ever re-theme their Lost Continent area of the park? Be sure to let me know in the comments!

    I'm a huge theme park fan, and a lifelong Zelda lover. No other video game will ever compare. I don't care which Zelda title it would be themed to. Something that covers all or most of the Zelda stories could be the best themed area in the history of theme parks. Throw in an Intamin coaster and some dark rides and I would probably have to move my family to Orlando! Also a Lost Woods interactive type attraction would be awesome for families to wander around and explore!

    The area would be themed to Kakariko Village from breath of the wild which has a kind of folksy Japanese medieval feel and it is surrounded by low but steep sugar loaf limestone mountains like halong bay or yangsho in China. Village Houses would be shops & eating venues, walk in archery games etc mini dark rides if you like. Maybe even a cooking demonstration. There Would be a little glade off to one side with the master sword for photo opportunities, and another zig zag path to a Sheikah shrine which would be entrance to the showpiece dark ride which would be trackless and send cars into set pieces, big duel stage pre show with link waking up from hibernation and Zelda briefing him and you and a shrine deity intriguing the trial to come. And closing it perhaps followed by a calamity fight with gannondorf or something. There would also be an airtime filled coaster threaded all around the themed rock work hills and waterfalls, that sort of terrain follows, perhaps themed to links master cycle or flying coaster themed to a more nimble new shikaparaglider could easily be a new tech demostraiter from the tech lab ant that would be a great station build and story for it! Man I think this could beat any other themed area built ever and feels so doable.

    The great thing about Islands of Adventure is it doesn't have to worry about a big hard ticket event like HHN every year. Seriously think that's part of what holds USF back from becoming a top tier park. Look no further than the new Minion Blast attraction being essentially half of what it could have been because they just HAD to keep half the building for a HHN house. And of it weren't for HHN I fully believe they would've replaced the fear factor area with an actual attraction by now.

    I think a wing coaster would be a good fit. Skyward Sword, the first game chronologically and explains a lot of the series mythology, has a big emphasis on flying, and the bird Link rides eventually becomes hugely iconic in the series

  • @countofarcadia
    @countofarcadia Před rokem +8

    Going with a Wing Coaster would probably work with Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword which features giant birds which are called Loftwings. It could work, and the inside portions of the ride could show the world of that game in the skies. Now, that could also play with the upcoming Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom as well which seems to revisit some of the locations from Skyward Sword eons later which are now in ruin in the sky.

    I could very easily see that land split into the landscapes of Breath of the Wild. A centralized location with a castle-themed ride, for Hyrule... a mountain area with a Rito village... a desert landscape for the Gerudo, something water related for the Zora and a volcanic area for the Gorons. Breath of the Wild is such a dramatic and beautifully themed game and would be amazing, adapted into a RL experience.

  • @Danrarbc
    @Danrarbc Před rokem +11

    A Zelda dark ride could well be themed around the dungeon crawling every title offers. It's a really good excuse for bringing you inside, because otherwise Zelda games are known for their overworlds.
    As for a coaster idea one based on riding Epona (the horse) could be possible. There are also a couple of items that allow you fly in a couple of the newer games and they could certainly build a coaster on that concept. And then another decent one would be basing a coaster on Wind Waker's voyages across the sea.

      Imagine a super complex water coaster themed to the king of red lions from the wind waker

  • @strudelninja
    @strudelninja Před rokem +6

    Anyway, I think the "best" theming for this area would be Ocarina of Time. Make the dark ride maybe be the Young Link ride, have scenes in the 3 dungeons and tell the story of Link trying to get the 3 stones, the blasters could be slingshot themed. And then make the coaster be Adult Link's ride, enter through the Temple of Time, have the pre-show being the part where the Master Sword is pulled, and maybe have a couple of show scenes themed to Death Mountain and Lake Hylia, then finish in Ganon's Castle. I can't really think of another example of rides being meant to be ridden in a certain order and it'd definitely be an interesting way to progress the story of the land as the guest experiences it.
    They could definitely theme a food stand to Lon Lon Ranch and have Malon & Talon meet and greets next to it, have Saria at the Deku Tree, Zelda and Link outside of the coaster exit. If Universal has a version of that costume that Disney's using for Hulk, that would be cool to use for a goron.
    But I honestly think Pokemon might be a more likely retheme because it would allow them to then retheme Seuss Landing. Maybe if they don't eat up too much of the world's fair area with a Potter expansion at USO they could put Zelda in over there when Simpsons and MIB come down.

    They could just add in a Family guided horse ride and let people sit on Epona, you have a winner. And a Vekoma Flying Coaster would fit if they are doing the Skyward Sword origin story. Darkride about Majoras Mask and you can build a walkthrough attraction inside that can have a talking tree that will take the 13 lifes mastersword challenge of Breath of the Wild. Thibk you got plenty of things covered for a lot of the Zelda lore.

  • @JamisonTheNintendoAnimationFan

    I love this idea! I really like Mario and Zelda, so this would be a very nice replacement for the Lost Continent. The wing coaster can be based on The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword because the trains can be designed after the Loftwings, which are giant birds that can be used by Link to fly to another location quickly. As for the dark ride, I like the concept of an interactive shooting dark ride because it is always a fun and competitive ride for all ages to enjoy, and many of the games have Link using the bow to shoot the arrows and defeat enemies, which can be used as targets during the ride. However, I think that a boat ride would also be really cool to see as well. It also has a low height requirement and it allows everybody to appreciate the interactive scenes and characters while they are on the ride.

    Brandon, I think this idea sounds amazing! It definitely makes sense for Islands of Adventure to re-theme the Lost Continent into a new area based on The Legend of Zelda.
    The B&M Launched Wing Coaster can be based on Skyward Sword, since it has an emphasis on flying. Also, the trains could be designed after the Loftwings. Now, as for the dark ride, I like it. This attraction sounds like a great fit and Universal could benefit from another attraction geared towards families.
    All in all, it will be interesting to see what Universal Creative does with this park and the Studios park after Epic Universe opens. I can't wait to see what the future holds for Universal Orlando Resort.

    During my college years, I was in my biology class and I was bored. So I started drawing a map of a Zelda themed land for IOA. I started with making a part of the lost continent themed to hyrule castle town. I placed a triforce triple coaster set to the temple of time. I also put a lost woods Dark ride closer to hogsmede. I would make mythos a restaurant themed to Zora waterfalls. And I would also put a drop tower/dark ride attraction based on Ganon’s tower. This land would be based on Ocarina of Time.

    Zelda is not an IP the general public is familiar with..at least in comparison to JP, or HP for example. So, logically, you would want to introduce this IP through an attraction (think Avatar Flight of Passage) to establish this world. Then, you could have a second attraction that goes deeper. Maybe an immersive theatre attraction, for example. Something that would bring, the now familiarized general audience, into a Zelda adventure. Just a thought

    The thing about a wing coaster for Zelda is that it's actually perfect. The game Skyward Sword introduced a giant bird creature called loftwings, which is Link's main mount and mode of transport for the game. Loftwings were designed to be incredibly import for the series iconography, as the wing and talon insignia that often accompanies the TriForce in particular designs, such as the one on the Hylian Shield, is supposed to be a depiction of a loftwing.
    If we go with the shooting dark ride idea specifically, there's actually quite a few possibilities. You could portray it as a shooting on horseback minigame, derive from the shooting minigame in Spirit Tracks and have the ride vehicle be the Spirit Train, or make it a water based shooting dark ride and have the vehicle be the King of Red Lions. If this potential Zelda themed land is portrayed as Hyrule Castletown tho, the horseback one would make the most sense thematically.
    Honestly I could design a whole park themed to Zelda; I'm a massive Zelda fan

While breath of the wild is popular the theme just doesn't feel like it would fit for a zelda land that would be compared to super Mario land. I think it would be best to stick to the toon theme of the super Nintendo.

    Mythos restaurant would retheme very easily to Zora's Domain in Legend of Zelda. For those who don't know, the Zora are the fish people of the Zelda world, so the rock and waterfalls could all remain, they would just need to change the decoration, but keep the building. Same could be said for the entire Lost Continent area, just reskinning the buildings to suit the Kingdom of Hyrule, perhaps not by making an actual location from the games, but more of a general embracing of the mythology of the games.

Not to totally geek out but there are deserts, water, snowy areas, ocean / water areas, wooded forests, castle type areas, etc. The possibilities are really endless. It would be up to them to decide on theming based on specific games or an overarching theme based on a single game like BotW. In your case with the wing coaster idea, that could be themed to Skyward Sword. The water ride could be Windwaker. They could even do a ride that's a bit darker like Majora's Mask. I think a land themed to Zelda would be the perfect modern fit for this land. In fact, since The Legend of Zelda takes place in a land of myth and adventure, one could argue for that reason that the theming of The Lost Continent could stay as it is or get altered just a little bit for this new character. After all, an island with this kind if turning would still be the perfect fit for this park and be a huge gap if it was missing.

    I do like the idea of a Legend of Zelda dark ride and Roller Coaster for Islands and Adventure. I think it works really well. I remember I originally thought that lost continent would just be some Harry Potter expansion with The Sinbad stunt show and Posiden's furry being Harry Potter rethemes, but honestly, your right both should be demolished entirely with a new dark ride and Roller coaster being built. I would imagine Universal would wanna open Legend of Zelda before or in 2029 cause that year will mark the 30th anniversary of the islands of Adventure Park.

    Didn't Universal just finish a big refurbishment on Poseidon's Fury? I like this concept a lot, but I just don't see them ripping it out for another decade with how much work they put into it.

  • @brianfoss571
    @brianfoss571 Před rokem

    The Poseidon Fury building is almost as big as The Cat In The Hat's. If Universal were to build a new queue area where the Poseidon statue/ruins are, they could convert the existing queue into a preshow and load/unload areas. A wing coaster would be fantastic for this land, and agree it wouldn't open before 2026. USF really needs a good motion simulator show, and I hope we'll see a motion-based show themed to *"Quidditch Through The Ages"* open soon after Epic Universe.

    Huge Zelda fan. They should totally theme the rides after some of the temples. Water Temple. Fire Temple. etc. And add an element of conquest to it like the game. If you "conquer" all the temples (i.e. all the Zelda attractions), you are rewarded... maybe with some rupees!

    I love this idea, but I think the Comic Strip area of the park is probably closer to the chopping block than Lost Continent is. The rides there are great, just the relevancy of the IP is not so great- How many kids ( or under 40 adults) know Cathy or Beetle Bailey?!?

  • @Jingles8302
    @Jingles8302 Před rokem +1

    I don't think they'd totally demolish the building for Poseidon, as the example contrary to it is the Kongfrontation into Mummy ride, all they had to do was make room for it inside. In fact the track for Kong is still installed in the roof of the ride building still. and Mythos is their number 1 highest rated theme park restaurant, its won so many awards.... they'd probably only ever consider slight re-theme..

    Retheming Lost Continent as a Zelda area is a no brainer, and honestly - I am quite shocked they have not even made that move yet. It fits with what is there, and they could have done it slowly, and then announced a ride. Instead it sits there quite dead as everyone mostly runs through it quickly. They can even keep some items b/c the theme is so similar.

      they can simply name the land Hyrule, as likely the most popular and thought of Zelda location, but there are some really great names in Zelda geography that could lend a hand to ride names or different sections of the "land"! My faves are Death Mountain, Lake Hylia and Lost Woods.

    They could totally do a sword in the stone thing with the master sword, also a trackless dark ride inside the Poseidon’s fury building , themed around any number of dungeons from the series, forest temple, awesome, they could do an effect where you travel through the twisted hallway, then you travel backwards and it’s straighten up, or they could do the water temple, and have an effect of water levels rising in a huge central building, or even something like the great deku tree, or dodongos cavern, with a huge animatronic king dodongo as the centrepiece of the ride, they could do ganondorfs keep, where each section is themed to a different temple, these are all just based off of one game too, the possibilities are almost limitless. As you can probably tell I want to see this so badly

    The rollercoaster should definitely be flight themed(either inverted or flying specialty), but the Dark Ride.... Zelda Multiverse Adventure. Seriously. The whole Multiverse trope in media is only. getting. bigger. With so many games to pick, why just one? Make it a solo story following a new device in the franchise that brings riders with link as he has to hop through many versions of his own story. Every type of Link, Ganon, and Zelda could make some sort of appearance:P Just food for thought ✌️

  • @tylerhfroemming
    @tylerhfroemming Před 11 měsíci

    I hope they pick something other than Zelda. The theme of the Lost Continent was key for this park which was based around literature. I believe it would be far more beneficial to build a new version of Dueling Dragons in the stunt show space and a new Poseidon Dark ride in the old walkthrough location.

    Since they have put pokemon characters in the parade, I would think it would be that over zelda.
    Also, when they refurbished poseidons fury, they didn't do much to the attraction. But, they did do alot of structural work to the building. So, I think they will keep that building.

    I feel like a dark ride would fit the best. Nintendo places a lot of value on making experiences anyone can enjoy, and while they could do a family friendly coaster I’d rather a highly themed and more thrilling dark ride almost akin to Rise of the Resistance that utilizes multiple ride systems and a highly themed queue to really make you feel like you’re on a grand adventure.
    I know a lot of people are referencing the patents for the water/suspended ride and I think something like that could be super cool. With so many iterations of Zelda to choose from I think BotW/TotK Hyrule would probably be the best fit since, with all of its references to other games, it almost feels like a celebration of Zelda. And also when it changes to a suspended mode, it can look like you’re utilizing the paraglider.
    As for exteriors hyrule castle is the obvious, but seeing as hogwarts castle is so close and we also get peaches and bowsers castle in Nintendo land, I’d rather see the temple of time as the facade. It’s a location that shows up so often throughout all the games and maybe at a certain point in the queue you can get transported into another iconic local such as the lost woods or even Zoras domain.

    Makes sense with the live action reboot of train your dragon (version I believe will be used at the new park) and a Zelda animation movie on the way. New ip to many younger viewers will be a draw to the park and limit loss of guests going to epic universe. We want to grow numbers, not just relocate them.

    The only prediction I am confident in making is your final prediction: Islands of Adventure won't see any major expansion or attraction until after Epic Universe opens, since it has already been blessed with two huge coaster recently. Work on Universal Studios Florida is already underway (VillainCon Minion Blast and replacement to Woody Woodpecker KidZone), which will probably tide them over until Epic Universe gets underway and starts generating revenue. Then I believe focus will return to beefing up Islands of Adventure, followed by perhaps one last Harry Potter expansion to Diagon Alley at USF.

    While a Zelda theming rumor has been going around for years on what could go in place of Lost Continent, however, I doubt that would happen because I think they may save that for Epic Universe. But, what seems more plausible for that area though, would be an expansion to Wizarding World.

    I believe the world's needs more Mack suspended Powered Coasters (Arthur at Europapark) and I'm honestly shocked why Disney and Universal are not buying those. I think it would also fit in perfectly for a Zelda themed coaster/dark ride hybrid. I'm also pretty sure that with some money Mack would also be able to add more features to the model to maybe make it faster and more thrilling
