So this bakkie went from a R169 000 in 2015 to R200 000 plus in 2021...what the hell happened?

Definitely supply and demand. We went from having the Opel/Chev , Ford, and Nissan competing against each other to Nissan being the only one left and they seem to have capatilsed very well on it.

Overall, the NP200 is a good and reliable sub-ton bakkie. Its clearly targeted at those who do not have deep pockets and those who just wants a small workhorse to do some lifting within and around town. The loading box comes rubberized as standard and the 6 year/ 150 000km warranty is proof that Nissan has trust in the quality of its vehicle. However, the NP200 disappoints terribly on aesthetics, especially the inside. Its tons of plastic everywhere and bare bones. The base model does not even come with the radio and aircon, two features which have become standard in nearly all modern cars. The steering wheel is so boring, not even a single control button on it! Windows are the old-fashioned manual type and the key can cause you to faint by just looking at it. ..And what with the wipers? Sometimes there's a good reason to conform! Whoever came up with the idea of designing those wipers to move from right to left deserve to have their ears cut off. The windshield is cleaner on the passenger side than the driver's side. WTF! ... So, in terms of performance and reliability, I would rate it 7/10. In terms of looks, I would give it 6/10 (outside) and 3/10 (inside).

So if this Dacia Logan ... ahum , Nissan NP200 is the main stay of light bakkie sales , what's the competition ? A Fiat Strada with RAM logo's or perhaps a VW Saveiro with Skoda badging ?

Why buy a Nissan if you are going to get a Renault that will cost the same as a Renault to run??

there is nothing stealthy about that NP200, that car is slow, you can be overtaken by a Canal Boat.
    chuck in a VW VR6, SR20, VAG 1.8T 20V, KA24DET in that np200
don't bother turboing that k7m waste of time

I wouldn't touch it!! I bought this car when it was released. So to give you all a great review here it is. The leather seats are PU and fall apart after 2yrs, my review mirror fell off after 6 months. The window winder fell off in the first month and my central locking broke in 2 months. I went to Nissan and after 6 years they still havent fixed any of these issues because apparently its aftermarket parts, yes aftermarket parts you put on. My roof light continues to fall out well driving and the window tint started to peel of after 2 weeks!!! All I have had with this Np 200 stealth is problems and Nissan couldn't care less. Worst customer care ever and the last time I will ever buy Nissan again. Not to mention that the sports bars that they put on start to fade after 1yr and the cover falls apart after 2 yrs. The sound system they put in the car is absolutely rubbish!! Do not buy this car, you will be sorry!!!
