For junior secondary, my parents attended boarding school in Taveuni in the 70s. Dad was in Bucalevu Provincial (boys) and Mum in Niusawa Methodist (co-ed). To this day, my mum still dreams of returning to Taveuni for even just a short visit. When my dad was alive, he often recounted the weekend routine in boys' school. Sometimes, when taking a break from weeding the cassava patch, snakes would drop from the ceiling of the thatched hut where they usually sheltered from the mid-day sun. The lucky ones would flee but the unfortunate would later be found fainted on the ground. It was probably too much for their weak hearts to bear. Mind you, the snakes were harmless. Everyone found it funny but it's also one of the reasons I never set foot on the Garden Island. My dad's anecdotes contributed to my fear of snakes. Having said that, Taveuni is a place I intend to visit with my mum. Thank you for posting this beautiful production, which I'm now sending to her.
My dad's from here, my mom's from the equally beautiful neighbour Qamea, this video still doesn't show the full beauty of this paradise. Been only once but memories I'll still hold on to till today
