Right?! I said the same thing when I arrived at the venue. The AV company told me that the clients specifically only wanted lights on the dance floor.

There's a client requested us for no stage lighting too. Eventually we found out one of his parent got epilepsy and can get very bad with lighting flickering and moving, so just flood light on the stage and dance floor.
