  • In the moody underbelly of Lille's music scene, Guerre Froide emerges once again, this time with the enigmatic offering titled "Coruscant." This album is not just a collection of songs; it's a clandestine journey through the shadows of post-punk, a musical noir that pulls you into its mysterious embrace.
From the first haunting notes of "La Balance," you're plunged into a sonic world where Sabatel and Yves Royer's vocals paint a vivid tableau of urban tales. The music, a brainchild of Fabrice Fruchart's guitar wizardry and programming prowess, weaves a dark tapestry, mirroring the intensity of their lyrics.
"Moralité" and "ça moins ça" are rhythmic examinations of morality and the complexities of existence. Guerre Froide doesn't just make music; they craft sonic landscapes that are both visceral and cerebral. Samuel Druon's bass lines provide a heartbeat, while Bruno Dupont and Federico Iovino's drums create a pulsating rhythm, pushing the narrative forward.
As "La chienne" unfolds over nearly six minutes, it's a cinematic experience that transcends the boundaries of traditional post-punk. The track is a testament to the band's ability to create expansive soundscapes, taking the listener on a sonic odyssey.
The titular track, "Coruscant," is a crowning jewel in the album, a sonic cityscape that mirrors its name-vibrant, luminous, and pulsating with life. The instrumentation is meticulous, every note a brushstroke in the audio painting, creating a sonic metropolis that exists in the space between reality and dreams.
"Le voyeur" and "Alors" continue the exploration, each track a chapter in the novel that is "Coruscant." The bonus tracks, "Tords moi" and "Ersatz 2017," are like hidden passages, revealing facets of Guerre Froide's artistry that might have remained in the shadows.
Recorded in the summer of 2016 at the Studio du Bras d'Or in Boulogne-sur-Mer, "Coruscant" is more than an album; it's a sonic expedition into the mysterious recesses of the human psyche. So, let the shadows of Lille's music scene envelop you, and allow Guerre Froide to be your guide through the sonic labyrinth of "Coruscant."

Also this album shows exactly the element you heard before with Fiat Lux again these very beautiful melodic arcs which are alternately led by the alternating voices. Sometimes it reminds me in parts of shoegaze with the hypnotic guitar runs, again I feel carried by melancholy which then sprays with a hopeful, power and embodiment of this music almost joy. Simply another good album, the music has become even deeper ...
