Julie London -30 yrs old in '56. Good looker.
Love these old movies and black and white
Cab driver is Henry Calvin who played Sgt. Garcia on the Zorro TV series in the 1950s.
Holy Crap! I knew he looked familiar! I used to like Sgt. Garcia!
Unexpectedly a really rather good movie.
Life is like a cesspool, the biggest chunks always rise to the top!
This was a good movie
Yes very good b movie .these old movies are a time capsule of America.
This is a pretty good movie. If it wasn't I wouldn't have just now watched it for the second time in this year. As that's a rare thing for me.
Enjoyed this one from 1956. A good, believable storyline and well acted. John Bromfield did a good job of acting drunk early on, a nice cameo for Julie London. It all ends happily, as they always do in this type of film.
Psychiatry was stuffed up even back then. This head doctor would have locked him up if he had half the chance and these days the won't lock them up when they do need it.
That blonde at the police station was one of the " Fun girls " on the
Andy Griffith show.
Very well written and acted.
thanks so much for this, Rob.... oh how I worship Julie London.
And can I add that John Bromfield could take me anywhere he wanted to go!
So easy on the eyes.
Great old movie! Thank you 🌷
Glad you enjoyed it
Thank Q.
Excellent! My favorite genre.
Mine too!
Bel-Air Productions did about 3 dozen "b" movies during the 1950s....many are fun exploitation films. Their first western, "War Paint" w Joan Taylor as a sexy Indian was actually really good ! Thanks Rob W.
This was shot in 5 days on a minimal budget yet so much more entertaining than the mega budget crapola churned out by Hollywood nowadays! I love these b-movies from the 50s!
@@robtw88 Pretty good movie for five days shooting. I favor the 1940's thru the 1950's B&W oldies over any other decades. O really appreciate you providing many of them.
B&W sets a particularly perfect ambience for films of the silver screen Especially in film noir and drama where light, darkness and shadows are well used for dramatic effect.
The mark of a good B movie, night scenes shot in broad daylight😂
@@captainjack8823 Absolutely. All noir films should be in black and white. Check out "The Narrow Margin", or watch it again, if you haven't seen it lately. It was good to see Charles McGraw play a good guy (for a change) in it.
Fun film to enjoy. Thanks for the upload.
Glad you enjoyed it!
They need a sequel called 'Let's Go Drinking With Joe"
Or, The Cowboy Drives a Fast Car.
Wow-Gr8 movie enjoyed the plot twist😳isn’t that something-you just never know😳Thank you for uploading a gem💝❣️🥰💖
WoW! Just found your super channel. Thanks Rob.
Enough gems to keep me out of trouble for a while!
Glad to help!
Mmee awwww too
Julie London was also in a weird-looking noir called "The 3rd. Voice" 1960. Unfortunately the only copy on YT is real low quality.
Ironic, because Julie is definitely high quality😅
"What's your attitude on girls, Joe?" "I think they're here to stay." Great reply. 😅
But the psychiatric evaluation was completely bogus.
Terrifi "B" movie I also am totally mesmerizd by Miss London AND always will be,. She was only 5 ft. 2..Thiis is Jan. 15, 2022. (I'm 77.)
She was beautiful
Julie London was a popular singer, as well as TV series actress.
I always thought she was tall! It must have been the way she carried herself. So lovely
@@joestephan1111 Emergency!, in the '70s.
"Slacks"....you're a lucky guy, Joe.
va va voom
I watch the😅se for the ambiance. The street scenes, various stores, etc, to revive the life of my childhood.
“We all dream of being a child again. Even the worst of us . . . perhaps the worst most of all.” From “The Wild Bunch.”
THANK YOU
Great storyline. Just enough out of the ordinary.
Thanks for the presentation.
That was a good one. Thanks so much for sharing.
Thanks Rob for this really good film
Well made ❤❤❤❤❤❤
Good whodunit. Had me guessing until the end.
Thanks !
Really enjoyed it❤
OMG what an awesome flick!!!!! Wow, thanx so much. John Broomfield reminds me of another famous actor but I can't think of his name!!!! Broomfield is so good!
Great movie. I really enjoyed it. John Bromfield was smooth and believable. Julie London was great as "Slacks" even though I am sure she was wearing a wig to enhance her looks.
Good flick Tku for post.
You're welcome
1:02:26 the detective drinks the guys drink while he leaves! haha
Thanks that is funny as hell
That was the best part.
Great film, and totally unsullied by ads. I’ll certainly subscribe to your channel.
Thanks for the sub!
Πολυ καλη ταινια !!!
I'm a new convert to the genre, great films, great fun.
I graduated from high school in '75 and I have worn my school pin every day and have it on right now.
Relax Kid...
tanx, great, for a 45-borner 💕👏
What happened to the sleepwalker ? It's sad that there will be probably in every highschool at least some guys who never find their soulmate before it's too late. I'm one of them. Fortunately enough, we don't all end up killing folks, even if it leaves some scars that take a lot of time to heal. Just one of those things....
What happened to the cowboy who tried to run down Slacks? Guess he gets a pass.
Ahhhh......the good old days....grab a bottle of whiskey and head right for the car. At least he took a cab home.
Love this movie. ❤😊
Nice.
Thanks!
started watching these old movies some very good. love the nice looking women in them as well. a lot better then the trash we get now
Henry Calvin was the guilty actor he played the voice of Oliver hardy on the L and H cartoons played him opposite dick van dyke on one episode of the Dick van dyke show and was zorros side kick on Disneys show of the 50s. The cowboy was rex reasons brother who starred in the science fiction classic this island earth rex reason that is
Solid B film in spite of protagonist whining throughout.
Depending on if the guys could come up with their 10 year old high school pin seemed to be a real shaky strategy. After 10 years...???
I graduated H.S. in 1970 and we didn't have any pins, we just had the H.S. ring. I didn't wear my ring for very long at all. I went to college in the Fall, and the next Spring, I volunteered for the Navy with a deferred active date of that August, 1971. I might have seen my H.S. ring a few times in my dresser somewhere, but it didn't mean anything to me. My H.S. years became another life that I lived; I moved on.
Now, don't misunderstand me. I had a great H.S. experience: 1st string football every year, second fastest sprinter with 10.3 speed in the 100 yard dash, Senior Student Council president, Senior class president, speech contest winner for my county, and was in the choir every year. Yep, I was very active and did well. But it was just a step along the way in my life.
Wow... Slacks must be like 4'11" tall. Actors were sure small in stature in those days.
She was 5’2. There were some tall actors, John Wayne, Jimmy Stewart, Vincent Price, Cary Grant etc
Lots of actors are shorter than you'd think.
These days too
weird food we have now add junk to the food why so many fat people now
@@kaydee4296 Like Tom Cruise, he's 3'7" but the lifts in his shoes make him appear much taller😂
That one cop looks, and even sounds, a little like Steve Martin.
If you mean the detective, I thought he really resembled Chuck Woolery.
If you wanna see that, not just right painting again, watch the “Three Bad Sisters”.
Now. You know. There ARE some couples that live JUST LIKE the movies. Julie London 🧐 or… ?
03:22 - 1935 Plymouth.
This was actually pretty good. What about the Cowboy? Vehicular homicide not worth following up on?
4.40 The good ald times when you could drive plastered.
He didn't change his clothes ..or briefs
B Grade !
Though the dates for " Joe's " H.S. graduation year doesn't generally line up with the dates of the Korean War . Pretty good movie overall . But , wtf is up with Joe calling his mom by her first name ??!
Stepmom, maybe.
RATE 80%/5.8
NOIR
Pretty good film though for me there were two weak parts in the storyline - slacks not going straight to the police after the attempted hit and run. Yes, it turned out that wasn't the killer, but still. Then the real killer at the end giving dumber members of the audience and Joe, his full confession! But enjoyable and tense, nevertheless...
An ok movie
Poor Joe has only one lousy shirt to wear.
❤👏🌹🤗❤👏🌹🤗❤👏🌹🤗👌🐴😇
Chauffeur taxi : en tant que sergent Garcia...... "ZORRO".🙂
Slacks had a nice rack!😊
Crime against Joe Mama
Spoiler alert: real stinkeroo
Take a swig out of a pint bottle behind the wheel in a convertible
why not show his species.
Interesting enough movie for its day. Not sure Joe really loved Slacks or he would have made a play for her earlier and at the end just grateful for her love for him. Never thought London was beautiful. She always wore her hair in an odd way, pushed to a point in her face. It didn't add to her looks.
One can see pictures of her through the years from varying angles. Some of the photos from her singing career are quite stunning. And very unlike images from her days of acting. It is a wonder as to which bore the truest likeness.
Quit watching after 11 minutes. The drunk act was horrible.
