      It’s really the Fantom X in a box. Every so often Roland will make a odd in between instrument. This the real deal.

    Ben, love the video! Bought a Sonic Cell due to this great demonstration. Question....other than the Dynamic Drums, which 2 SRX cards would you recommend to best expand the soundsets for this puppy?

    • @park171
      @park171  Před 2 lety

      I would suggest the classic keys card. It has the “Bass and Drums, Vintage Synth, and keyboards of the 60s and 70s “ but it goes for a steep price.

    Many people says sd50 and sonic cell are the same products. I have both of these and i dont agree with them. They have completely different sounds.

    • @bradkeyboards
      @bradkeyboards Před 2 lety

      the expansion modules were a nice feature of sonic cell, they incorporated some of the expansion module sounds into the SD50. Still don't like having to use adapters on the sd50 to plug into a regular amplifier. I have had the sonic cell for 10+ years now and use it live all the time (wouldn't trade it) I have both expansion slots filled. I mostly use a Roland VK8M for organ but he sonic cell does have some nice organ sounds.

    Been looking at stuff to simplify my live performance riig. I'm confused about the difference between this and the SD_50.

    • @park171
      @park171  Před 3 lety

      Just remember for live use. Sonic cell would better pre programmed ahead of time. Due to the lack of buttons, there would be most of menu diving.

    • @bradkeyboards
      @bradkeyboards Před 2 lety

      SD-50 has 1/8 input and output rather than the 1/4 on the Sonic cell. Sonic cell has expansion slots but you would not easily find the modules today. both can be programmed. both are midi it depends on your controller whether you need to store different sounds in the user section so you can call the different sounds up quickly. Going through the sound list takes a bit of time unless you know exactly where the sound is located. It is hard to find a midi controller today that can cycle through the lsb msb and programs quickly for live performance

      @@bradkeyboards I ended up buying the SD-50. Does everything I need it to do, after I learned that it would only take 4 gig drives. I just wish it has midi out.

    Can you layer 2 or 3 sounds together? Does it lose polyphony ?

    • @park171
      @park171  Před 2 lety +1

      The FX edits stay with the performance , if it’s a patch the it is saved with the patch. But if your using a performance, you can either have one of the 3 MFX inserts draw from any of the patch’s MFX from single mode or assign your own MFX. It’s fairly flexible but you only have 3 MFX blocks per performance.
