Holy moly ! Just thought I’d take a look to see if there was any new vids and bam! Not only a new vid but Ironjawz! So pumped , looking forward to this battle! Thanks guys 😊🙏
Just fyi, you can't use spiteswarm hive in your opponent's hero phase. It reads, "At the end of a player's hero phase, if a Sylvaneth Wizard or Sylvaneth Hero in THAT player's army is within 9" you can use it. Which basically only comes up in the mirror match.
Not sure if it makes a big difference but heroic willpower doesn’t allow you to dispel a endless spell on your opponents turn only your turn and it was the red stick one so he didn’t have the arcane tome
Nice battle report ! I am an Orruk player but starting a sylvaneth army right now so feels good to see them both on the field ! A few questions: - Why not take Vesperal Gem if you have one important spell to cast per turn ? - How can you teleport the Kurnoth hunters behind the 6 pigs unit on turn 4: you can teleport to these wildwoods even if you didn't cast them from a spell ?
Vesperal Gem is good and i take it alot but i figure with the 3d6 cast and the extra primal dice i didnt need it, Given the choice between that and the greenwood gladius i am taking the sword as it makes durthu an actual hammer The Kurnoths teleported through the overgrown terrain feature that was in that back corner.
@@BattleshockWargaming makes sens ! I need to get some experience on this and i am still struggling to choose which seasoning i need ! Thanks for the feedback Otherwise, overgrown terrain feature need to be completely outside of enemy territory right ? Wasn't this one partially in the orruk territory ?
I normally don't cheer for a faction based on their player's fashion choices, but Mike, you can't take the sky from me. Sylvaneth for the win on this match. Jokes aside, I do love both of these factions here, and both are on the short list for my secondary faction collection, competing with Nurgle and Khorne as I paint my KO to completion. TWO nine inch charges back-to-back by the Sylvaneth. That is crazy. No rerolls. Looking at a 30% chance on both of them. Getting both at the same time? Probably a 20% probability. Even with that stroke of good fortune, however, it came down to the Round 5 Priority Roll. Good game, gentlemen. I'll rendezvous with you at the next battlefield.
Glad you like that firefly reference your the only person to have commented on it. All the factions on your shortlist are great to collect, KO were perhaps the most challenging paint job i have recently done so if you are looking for a painting project go for that. Sylvaneth are my personal favorite and i highly recommend them That double 9 inch charge was very unlikely to happen but if you are on the backfoot you might as well go for it.
Great battle report! Those swords def should have killed more pigs but that was a clutch save roll. With Khorne and Seraphon being two of the top armies now. I am moving more away from the ancient plus warsong spiteswarm combo into a celestant prime or gotrek as a 3rd hammer/pinning piece. Also death still being very good, them having a ward for the warsong bomb hurts. The branchwych always has the same mortal would bomb spell and you will most likely be running her up the board to cast blizzard anyways. I also have been trying the burgeoning to help against other armies mortals output which is a big issue with sylvaneth. Without the warsong, you need to either keep the branchwych alive or go heartwood/oakenbrow and do overshadow. I have found getting spells off very hard this season so I dont get to summon many trees nor get the chance to cast through them. So I am trying out Radiant spirit over spellsinger to protect your castle from spell bombs a little.
Radiant Spirit seems like a good choice in this season. Seems like there is a build of kuroth hunters with 6 up wards all with a 4+ spell ignore just walking to the mid board ready to rumble. That might be something i have to try
Thank you! I think this list would be a tad better with a dryca or lady of vines but i was pleased with the acoytes battalion to help get those big spells off!
@BattleshockWargaming I actually take drycha instead of Durthu and still scythes over swords for the consistency. I've been taking the command entourage to give all my casters the extra spell and the rest in 1 drop. Warsong Gets vesperal gem and takes treesong and either the horde clear spell or the spell that brings models back. I'm still playing around with the last 1-200 points since the battlemage is getting nerfed. I'm trying the knight zepheros for extra mobility and guarantee surround and destroy.
Are you allowed to tap the Spiteswarm Hive on the Ironjawz turn? the current wording is terribly written, but it seems to me you can only use it on your own respective turn, and the rules is just written strangely to deal with Sylvaneth vs Sylvaneth situations...it would be amazing if I am wrong because I would LOVE to use the rend reduction ability off-turn for added defense;0
Agreed, the wording is pretty terrible lol. The way we look at the warscroll, it has offensive and defensive traits to it: one with the intention of being used in your turn to deliver a unit into combat, and one to help reduce damage in the opponent's turn. We have played it this way since the battle tome release, but unfortunately it is open to interpretation. Always best to check with your opponent :)
@@BattleshockWargaming Thank You!! Much appreciated: currently kicking iff our first battle with the new GHB, IJ vs Sylvaneth…Durthu already failed his first 6” charge: He is clenching his buttcheecks as Mike would say😂
As written, you cannot do it. Likely not rules-as-intended but it is rules-as-written. Contacted rules team multiple times via email to request an FAQ but no one cares enough lol. It allows your opponent to use YOURS in a mirror match though.
Thank you, At least in the game it didnt feel like the dice were one sided. There were more than a few times that the tree lords had a tough time punching the damage through
Nice battle report, thanks :) I have a question about the visibility of spiteswarm hive at around 45:00: In core rules 1.2 it states, endless spells are no models for rules purposes. The wyldwood terrain rules (17.1.4) state, that visibility between two “models” is blocked. So you should be able to see the endless spell, right?
good question, This was addressed in a main rule book FAQ. 17.1.4 WYLDWOOD TERRAIN Q: Do wyldwood terrain features and Awakened Wyldwood faction terrain features block line of sight to endless spells or invocations in the same manner as they would block visibility between models? A: Yes
Thats a question that has been comming Up. 26:36 can you Just remove the trees because they are Not impassible? Ive been playing that the Stump doesnt allow Units to fit, but this mostly Blocks alarielle which is stupid. You clearly Played them as you can move throught them and stand on top of them (Not the roots only). What we're the Tournament Rules for awakend wyldwood that you went to?
Each Tournament can be a bit different, in most cases infranty can not walk through a tree they have to walk around, Problem with the wyldwoods is its really difficult for michael to fit his great big hands in there without basing everything all to heck. It makes it easier on use to remove the trees so that we can actually move the models, Now for the Maw Crusher it has fly so it effectively ignores the vertical distance moving up and over a tree and can basically land right on top of it. This situation could be resolved by marking the position of the model and then moving the maw crusher off to one side which would be the "correct tournamewnt way" but we want you to see the model and the combat so sometimes we remove the trees
@@BattleshockWargaming thank you for the honest answer. Does that mean If you fly Like alarielle you could Land on the wyldwood If your Base will be in Balance? Or you mean simply flying over the Stump?
The terrain is more sparse because AOS is true line of sight, so 95% of the time you can still see your target with missile weapons. Also, the game is much more heavy on melee. Almost every army also has faction terrain, which brings it up to 10 pieces, some of which are obnoxiously large (cough...Seraphon..Cough...Bonereapers) We also never exceed the 8 piece limit for match play, because it makes it more difficult for our viewers to see what is going on during heads up and action shots. We always include 2 LOS blocking, 2 Impassable and/or cover/garrison for the 4 remaining pieces.
Thank you so much!! We appreciate your viewership. Thanks for taking time to comment and hope to see you in our Discord and in the comments for future videos :)
Primal dice are dice you use to modify cast, unbind and dispell rolls. It is part of generals handbook 2023 matched play rules. Michael's cast had an ability to unbing on 3d6 once per battle at the time stamp you provided. He then used primal dice to modify it.
This was brought to our attention and we agree :) I would have loved to kill that tree lord on the charge with mawcrusha, and the rend reduction made a difference there. 😀
