Data Nerds!! I'm thinking about starting a video series on: "How I use ________ as a Data Analyst"
🛠 What tools/skills would you want me to make videos on?
Python!
Storytelling!!
Tableau🙂
Tableau
Python and any visualization tool!
OMFG, been studying sql for a while. This video is the first one to get to the damn point with a real work work query question. I'm so tired of fake example queries and practice tests.
This was one of the most comprehensive explanations of how to start with SQL I have seen yet! Great channel mate and love the content.
Aw thanks for noticing this Jack!! 🙌🏼🙌🏼
@@LukeBarousse I'm very bad at mathematical, i'm wondering if its possible for me to became a data analyst? even with my low level in math?
@@hamzamehalli2825 You do need a basic understanding of maths, especially statistics, but not too much.
@@hamzamehalli2825 I would agree with Ravioli on this one!
For me too, finally I understand what is data analyst doing and relationship between SQL and individual database. Thank you.
I recently graduated and was happy I was able to get a job working with data. So much exposure with SQL makes me so happy because this is my foundation of experience towards furthering my career. Your channel helped me!
Heck yeah!! Congratulations on landing the new role, this is so awesome to hear!! So glad the channel could help 🙌🏼
Luke, your videos are outstanding. They’re incredibly clear and still entertaining. Thank you for taking time to do these.
Awesome! As an sql veteran, this was essential and a fantastic connectivity overview for ‘new’ tools. Thanks. 👍
This is the best video I have ever seen on SQL. I'm a complete beginner and this has given me the direction I need to start my journey! More like this!!!!
Thank you, this was so helpful for beginners like me. I learned so much! Great engaging editing as well, I cant wait to check out the rest of your videos as well
That surprise at the end is AMAZING lol
😂 I was a little nervous to show this TBH 🤣
randomly found this video, and was surprised. Your explanation on databases is so well-put and informative!
Such a nice and one of the most comprehensive explanations on how to start with SQL!
So simple and clear. Thank you so much! Haven’t found the CZcamsr who can break down things in such an easy-to-understand way! Really well done for that! Examples and boss-employee scenes really help too
Thanks for noticing this Nikita!! 🙌🏼 Glad to hear that this was helpful!!
Wow... I came in for a brief overview on SQL and I got much more. Thank you a bunch for sharing Coursera! I was able to find additional free courses that will be beneficial in my career advancement. Blessings to you Luke
Luke, thank YOU for the inspiration and teaching you provide to your subscribers/students with every video you publish! I'm currently finishing Course 6 in the Google Data Analytics Certification (aka The Tableau Data Visualization section). I started DataCamp's SQL Fundamentals Track about two weeks ago for two reasons: (1) I didn't want to lose the SQL knowledge I worked hard to learn in Courses 3-5. (2) Every reason you described in your amazing video. I have a family relative who is a data scientist, and he reinforced the importance of SQL skills in a data science career. 90% of the real, daily, and unglorified work of a data science professional is the processing, the cleaning, and the preparation of the data in SQL BEFORE analysis (whether it's in R, Power BI, or Python). The 10% sexy stuff is the analysis (aka the stuff most people want to talk and brag about). Thank you for presenting in your work what's real and for keeping it real. All the best to you in 2022 and Keep Doing What You're Doing!
You are so right about the 90/10 rule... the unglorified work is definetly in the cleaning and SQL is so important for this. Interesting to hear your using another course to supplement your SQL knowledge while also pursuing the Google Data Analytics Certificate!! Too cool! I love me some datacamp as well, so I think you made a good choice!!
Thanks again for the kind words
Thank you for being informational in your videos. Straight to the point.
Had my 1st interview with a NAVSEA contractor that is modernizing data analytics programs. SQL and viz were all we talked about. He stressed it's more important to under SQL and viz fundamentals, and the rest will come with time and training. 2nd interview is next week. The 20 years of ship maintenance availabilites and navigating NAVSEA while active duty finally paid off. The domain experience is 100% why they called me 1 day after submitting my resume.
Congrats on passing the 1st interview!! good to hear they are using the core tools for the job!!
Good luck on round 2, you got this!
soooo how did it go?! You have the internet behind you waiting for an update!
Wow congrats 👏 .
I just got a job with NAVSEA as well in the DC area
@@christhesoftwareguy5672 Heck yeah; congrats on the new role!
Thank you so much Luke, all your content is pure gold! 🙏
This is the most useful and simple SQL and DA workflow video I've found on the internet.
Awsomeeee pretttyyy clearrr it was. i got so much clarity by you no one taught me these keypoints in my career
Thank you man. I’m getting started in data analysis and this blazed the trail. 🙏🏻
This video was so on time! Just started learning more about SQL going through the Google Data Analytics course. Great content as always Luke!
Heck yeah, glad to supplement your Google Data Analytics learnings! Keep up the studies.
Detailed in depth without 'big words' for a beginner. I just started SQL, thanks for informing me why I need to immerse myself in it
You don't know how much this video helped me. There was too much useless theory in the class that I took and I was stressed sbout how I was gonna use it in the workplace but this gave me a clearer path for my researches. Thank you!
A beautiful video, I have subscribed Luke. I just finished a degree in data analysis and this brought back the joys of me first understanding the power behind SQL and my dislike for using MS Access.
I have watched so many videos so many lectures but the way you explain all those things it's just wow!! I am glad you are my mentor
Thank you Sir
A lot of respect from Pakistan!
I have been on my Data journey for a few years now and I have a decent grasp of all the skills independently. This video, especially the last portion truly helped me get an idea of how I would orchestrate these skills to fulfill actual job roles.
So glad this video was helpful in helping you understand that!
Great explanation of SQL and the impact it has in relation to other topics.
Super timely as always, Luke. Into the SQL portion of the Google Data Analytics certification and a bit perplexed at the formatting. I get the importance, but it's French (so far) to me. Your videos are really pulling me through this and I can't thank you enough for these!!!!!
Aw thanks so much for this! Good luck with the Certification, you got this!
How much time the Google certificate will take to finish?
@@probico From what I've heard, it's normally a 6 month course, but you can finish it much quicker. There are 8 modules (with the capstone project). I'm at the beginning of module 4 and I started at the end of November, so I've done 3 modules in 2 months. The 6 months spreads the learning out pretty well and makes it very comfortable and manageable.
@@probico The course intro says it's around 6 months, but you can actually do it mush faster. From my personal experience, the time wasn't a problem but to truly understand the concepts in every single chapter.
Man you are incredible, explaining with live examples 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻
Luke is indeed a Pro...
Great video clears all my questions
This video shows how deep you are in the data field
Though a short video, but deep explained.
As usual, clearing out my doubts. Thanks!
Hi Luke, thank you for such a wonderfully informative channel on data analytics.
I'm looking to transition from nursing to data analytics, and I'm finding it to be very resourceful on what steps I need to take going forward!
Aw you got this Theresa, keep up the hard work!
Thank you for sharing! I’m starting my Data Analyst journey today. 🎉🎉🎉
The kind of video I was looking for! Thank you Luke!
Thank you, hope it helped ya out!
Excellent! I got an awful lot out of this video as I am just dipping my toes in the water with SQL and Python - this video kind of put everything into perspective for me. Superb!
Woah.. such an awesome video Luke!! It's easily the best introduction to SQL and databases for data analysts! I thought I knew some SQL but really learned a lot from your explanation and enjoyed it. Thank you for querying my name, that's so sweet 🤩
Aw thanks so much for this and I've learned a lot from your videos as well!!
BTW,now that you commented, I gotta go update my database... again 😂🤣
@@LukeBarousse Hahaha very well. Be careful, next time I might add some secret code that would corrupt your subscriber database.. jk🤣
@@Thuvu5 you would never 😜😂
Thanks for this highly informative and detailed upload
Yo! I can’t believe I made it into your vid. Thanks. Now I am a certified Data Nerd!
Heck yeah you did!! Always love reading your comments so had to throw ya in!! #DataNerd
Thank you for your service! I was an Avionics Tech in the Marine Corps, spent a lot of time around sailors. I have been studying SQL for an upcoming business intelligence position for my employer. Your videos have been awesome! Keep it up!

Thanks, Rem!! And you may have read my mind about the Power BI 🤫
Thanks for the overviews, loved that suprise ending!
😜 Glad you enjoyed it!
Thanks Luke! I've finished the SQL course on the Google analytics certificate and I'm looking to develop my skills. I'll be checking out more of your videos!

THIS IS IT! That's what I needed to see to understand what a data analyst does. I would love to see going through a project that's asked and how do you solve it (mayde a description of the meeting with manager too). If someone has a video in mind I would love to watch it
This comment means a lot!! Thanks so much for this and so glad this video could help!
Let me see what I can do about the project video, there seems to be a lot of curiosity on this topic so stay tuned!
I 2nd that

Awesome explanation of RL use for SQL.
Absolutely awesome! You have inspired me as I prefer using SQL to analyze and transform data for reporting over other tools
Heck yeah, this is awesome Peter!
Love DBeaver! Been using it for 6 months on a work project and have now moved to using it on personal projects. It is such a powerful tool for writing SQL
Recently started using Python for SQL templating with Pandas and JinjaSQL
Good to hear someone else's experience with DBeaver, thanks for sharing this John!
Solid overview of SQL👌
Saw myself subscribing before the video even ended.
Great content...

From all data analyst videos I ever seen while learning SQL… plus my love for data… that’s the best video I ever seen hands down
Thank you
Ha! Thank you for this, Michael!! 🙌🏼 Glad you enjoyed it!
GREAT STUFF, LUKE YOU ARE A TRUE PROFESSIONAL
I appreciate it Ran!
Working as data analyst over the last five years in Dubai. Using SQL for the last 3 years. Regret that didn't start learning this tool before. It is so easy, universal and practical, that I applied it at almost every single project: CRM system, marker share calculation system, data warehouse, data orchestration, automatic import / export, calculation tools etc. I am using SQLite, Python, Excel and Power BI mostly.
Ps. Thanks Luke for your channel. It helps me to structure my existing knowledge + inspirational for new ways of using it.
Heck yeah, glad this could help, Olexander; and thanks for sharing your experience with SQL!
How is the devOps & Cloud sector over in the Gulf?
Great content Luke, as always!!
Thanks Germano!!

Thanks Tableau Tim!! Love your videos BTW, I used them when I was learning Tableau!!
Thanks a lot for this video I am completing the capstone project currently, the rest of the specialization I have finished! I am very thankful for this recommendation. Looking for one for Python next :)
This year I recently committed myself about going on a path to become a data analyst and finding this channel has done nothing but deepen and excite my desire to achieve that goal! The content you make is dope!
My dude, thanks so much for this. This comment made my day!! Keep up the hard work 🙌🏼
How is it going?

Ha, I love this poster! Thanks Tami!
This was brilliant thanks so much.
Wonderful insights, thanks a lot Luke.
My pleasure, Nathan!
Very interesting Luke! It was really puzzling for me how SQL works and how relevant it was to my job.
I was just as confused when I started in data analytics, so you are not alone! Glad this was helpful!
This is great! I’ve recently started learning SQL and I have plenty of experience in tableau, R, python, and ArcGIS. Your explanation of how SQL interfaces with other software was way helpful. This’ll help me a lot going forward with how powerful I’m realizing SQL is.
Such a powerful tool and can be integrated so well with the other skills you already have. Glad this helped!!
