    Great stuff! I was attracted to the mid-50's full size Chryslers and Imperials in the background. Those were some of the best cars Chrysler ever built. Total class on four wheels! Thanks a ton for this video!

      My first car was a 57 Chrysler Saratoga, 2 tone hunter green and white. I got it for free in 1974 during the first OPEC oil embargo! It had a 354 Spitfire engine, which had the same bottom end as a 354 Hemi, though I didn't know it THEN: I was only 8 years old!! Yeah, my old man was COOL.

    Interesting that the '64 Dodge 330 sedan was the base trim level, but this one was equipped with a 3-speed manual and factory air. The days of ala carte options.

    Pisses me off that there’s yards like this all across America where these cars have sat for 30 years because some guy thought he was going to do something with them someday and never did. Meanwhile, they rot away and end up in THIS condition where they finally get sold after that idiot gets too old or died. Pick your reason, it doesn’t change the fact that now, when we can finally get our hands on them they are a shadow of what they were when they arrived in these yards. It’s clear that 90% of those cars haven’t moved in 30 years.

    That 62 Savoy brought me back quite awhile ago! I had bought a 62 Sport Fury 2 door sedan with a 440, cable shift auto, 8 3/4 w/ a 3.91 posi for $300.00 ! ! ! made a bracket bomber out of it... I'd LUV to find another one but now I'm too old, too retired and too Broke! PS; mine had 3 tail lights on each side & I found a parts car in Flint, Mi. and had put 6 red tail lights on it (I recall I was told it was an original 361 car) I miss that car!

    In years past, I've had a 62 Savoy, 64 330, 65 Satellite, 65 Belvedere, 65 Coronet, 66 Belvedere, and 67 Coronet wagon, among many other Mopars. I wish I had ALL of them now! God, they were so easy to find 30 years ago...

    Richard LeFebvre is the punk rock record producer who builds A/FX Mopars, he'd done a few 4 door conversions that look good. He got ahold of the factory manual on building altered wheelbase cars.

      Hi John Doran, yes the shipping issue was an ... issue. Few of the 280 cars and trucks were mobile and the 1962 Dodge Dart Police Pursuit I bought was one of them. I called Intercity and they wouldn't touch it. BUT after just a couple more calls I connected with a New York-based vehicle shipper called Auto-Aero Shipping that trucked it from Texas to Massachusetts for just $1,700. Not the $2,500 I was prepared for. And best of all most of the Texas Mopar Hoard cars sold so cheap the shipping was MORE than the vehicle sold for in several cases. I'm also happy to say that about 250 of the 280 cars and trucks found homes with hobbyists / restorers. Sadly the remaining 30 or so were bought by a local scrapper who crushed them on site. Some of the gutted Imperials were crushed. But again, most will live on thanks to Spanky Assiter's Freedom Car Auctions - and the generous bidders! THANKS for watching and writing, Steve Magnante

    At 16:54, I noticed a little Dakota! I love that truck. Back in 99 I had a 93 in my high school years. I was in 10th grade. I guess it's the second gen. My truck was the magnum 318 auto (unfortunately) but I had JBA headers and bullet 3" cat back exhust. And that one looks to be a 96 with those rims. I found a set to put on my 93 to have the same effect. I see paint peeling like my truck year had a problem with. I want another one of those trucks but iv got to finish my 94 lightning project fist. Love the channel Steve! Back in the late 90's I had my Dakota and a 69 Dart with a 340 and looked forward to your articles in Hot Rod magazine. Keep up the inspiration brotha👍

    The 330 appears to have A/C vents under the dash. I cannot imagine a 330 coming with A/C, unless it was special ordered. The 330 was the entry-level model.
    I had always thought that 1964 Belvedere 2-doors were all hardtops, and not sedans. Proves me wrong.
    Motor Trend did an article on the Fury in January 1964, if you can find a copy.

    I didn't find out about that auction until after it was over. And I had been looking for a Forward look Mopar for years! And being a Texan it would have been a short trip for me to go pick one up...oh well

    The "Slagg Hammer" four to two post shift was done also by Ford on its Falcon unibody post sedans.

    I have a '62 Belvedere 4dr. sedan I may convert to a 2dr. Even have an extra set of doors for it. Good stuff!
    Though I love 4drs. for their hi-way pursuit look, I can sell it easier as a 2dr.

    In the late 60,s. I was a kid growing up in a working class Midwestern town...the older guy around the corner of my block worked at a Sunoco gas station and he and his brother had and drove on the street a 64 Dodge 2 door post car with a super stock 426 Race Hemi. It was crazy loud and they used cheater slicks and drove it to and from the dragstrip in town. That car is directly responsible for my all MoPar addiction with 3 cars ( HellCat 70 R/T 440 SixPack. 72 Pro Touring)and a diesel rig. All Dodge. Of course

    Leave them 4 doors , nothing wrong with dropping a max wedge in a 4 door ( Sleeeeper )
    a phoney 2 door is just wrong
    Some are butchering 4 door bel air hardtop to make a 57 convertible, nothing wrong with a 4 door hardtop , using a parts car 4 door to save a 2 door is sensible, do not cut up a nice 4 door hardtop car , not even to save a convertible , they make parts to save them

      @@jeffrykopis5468 it aint right for a lot of things , crushing classics or being a Hack etc. 2 brothers had a Ford 2 door hardtop, a high school car, they bought a decent 4 dr sedan to save that car , very cool save and they have a ton of stuff to keep that 2 door running.. Cutting up a classic car to simply create a phony when bodies are available is a Hack, to each there own but a phony hack car has no value, a waste , my opinion. and I am getting thumbs up, waste of money to hack good rare cars to make a phony , thats backwards dude

      @@nerradnosnhoj5122 You keep saying "bodies are available". NOT FOR MOPARS! Especially 62-65 B-bodies, or anything earlier than that. Dynacorn or somebody MIGHT repop a new 68-9 Charger body, or 70-74 Cuda, but never a 62-65. Ain't gonna happen. So I say take a derelict 4 Dr that would otherwise go to the crusher, and convert it to a 2 Dr. Back when these cars were easier to find, my best friend and I parted out about 15 62-67 4 dr B-bodies to fund my 65 Satellite and his 64 330, and provide much needed parts. Even 20+ years ago, we made a small fortune on those parts. But I do wish now that we had saved the 4 Dr shells. Neither of us had the real estate to do so.

Guys build such cars because they want a 2 dr Bel-Air or 64 Polara, but can't afford to buy a real one. Or they want to make a cool drag car without HACKING (your word) up an original 2 dr. Rich LeFebvre built several altered-wheelbase 64-5 A/FX cars from 4 drs, 20+ years ago. Until then, I didn't even know it was possible.

    wears snake chaps to keep from getting bit by all the rattlesnakes that love to hang around in these salvage yards and then proceeds to stick his hand up underneath several cars😮
    I actually miss the days of being able to wander around a salvage yard most of them won't let you do it anymore.

    In '72 my Cuz had a '64 Fury convertible with a 440 4-speed, perfect condition. First time I got in it we were going around 100 and the hood opened and slammed the A pillars putting the windshield in our laps. That big old heavy hood sail bent the top of the pillars 7-8 inches back. He later said the insurance totaled it and he got into pickups after that, died in one.

      Hello Ray 56, so sorry to hear your Cousin lost his life in a pickup (accident?). The story of the '64 Plymouth hood becoming an air brake is familiar! It's why every Nascar racer has hood pins AND cables to tether loosened panels from taking flight! If you ever get the chance, Google pictures of inside the trunk compartments of fully-race-prepped 1969 Charger Daytonas and 1970 Plymouth Superbirds. You'll see that Nascar forced teams (like Petty, Cotton Owens, etc.) to run steel cables through the wing parts that anchor to tabs welded to the trunk floor. They were safety precautions to keep the "wings" from really flying during a super speedway crash. THANKS for watching and RIP "Cuz". -Steve Magnante

      @@SteveMagnante I had them on every car I had.
      I owned a ex-Petty '69 charger he had set up for those dirt races, tried to use it on half mile but it was to damn heavy. We ran skins, not full inner and crush panels, a lot less frame, cage.
      I was a NASCAR fan, left it 6-7 years ago. Before that I was almost an encyclopedia of info on them, including binders of stats on every race for 30 years. Tossed, done with em now.
      Richard Lee went the way he woulda chosen,. Still see the look on his face when the hood flopped every time I think of it.

    Grandaddy had a 63 polara 318 and bet he never drove it over 55 mph. But sometimes daddy would drive it and run the hell out of it, while reminding me not to tell grandaddy. He said he was blowing the cobs out.

    Most of the exterior patch panels can be made at home other than the 64 hardtop that got it's wheel wells butchered which would be a lot more difficult to make.

    Hey Steve, nive greetings from Bavaria again! :)
    Is it possible that many say "B-Pillar" to the last Pillar what should be the "C-Pillar"? (like you in this video about the Dodge 330 4Dr)
    I´m even not sure about how that is at the US. I ask, because I´m that big fan of 4 Door Hardtop Bodystyle US Classic cars, esp. in Full- or also Mid size. And even there i say that 4Dr Hardtop Bodystyle is missing the "B-Pillar" at the height of the side windows, but the "C-Pillar" is allways there, it is the last or rearmost one, where the roofline runs out into the trunklid.... Now what is the right case?! :)
    I subsribed your Channel when is was very young and still follow your really nice videos, explainations and the vintage car stuff. For me as an Auto Designer/Stylist, who draws mostly new versions for cars or whole new cars with the pencils the aera of US Cars between the mid 1950´s untill the lte 1970´s are my most favorite cars ever made worldwide! I really love that stuff and i´ve allways these lines in my head, allways that kind of style what is also very very nice to bring back into the modern cars or even concepts of me. That´s also why i love the Mopar/Chrysler LX Generation Vehicles like the 2006-10 Dodge Charger for a good example, where i´ve got a 06 Daytona, Top Banana last year from NC what i´ve modifyed a lot into a really really nice one. But uncommon in the use of wheels and i also made it a lot more durable/Reliable with find out the "most common issues" of that year/model (what i allways do with a car when i start working on with the premission to make it better) and modifyed with an 15-row Oil-Radiator, 180° Thermostat for the Oil Circle and also for the cooling water circle, and i changet the 5W20 into 0W40 Motor Oil, becaus i saw that the 20 warm-grade m.oil was thinning out, esp. at the opperating temps withouth the Oil Radiator when i got the car and drove it on the bavarian mountain roads. I did many more, but in my eyes Mopar has done it so right with these cars and even with bring back the style of the golden age into the new ones (+ the GEN III HEMI ENGINE! Most importand with the RWD! ;) ) Now as a Auto Designer/Stylist i´ve drawn also a new Charger, a new Ford Gran Torino, Dodge Polara, Chevy Impala & Chevelle, and i ALLWAYS use a 4-Door Hardtop Bodystyle for the base models, because it is that beautyful, esp with the rooflines, the lines of the sides... It´s really really beautyful and hey, it was also possible to make that true! There isn´t any problem why not make 4 Door hardtops again.
    What is so unbeleavable for me; That the car guys at the US would or could not see that beauty with HIDING the rear doors when make a good styled 4 Door Roof & they still want to get a 2 Door, however with or withouth a "B-Pillar"...WHY? In my eyes the 4 Door Hardtop Roofline, if styled right, hides the rear doors and makes the over all styling in many cases of vintage US classic cars often a lot better than the 2 Door Versions because the proportions are better. For a really really nice example is the 67/68 Chevy Impala/Caprice 4 Door Hardtop i think. Because this example of a 4 Door Hardtop has such great proportions, hides the rear doors anywy, that the 2 Door Versions wouldn´t have that nice proportions...
    Still in the moment i´m restoring an 67 Chevy Caprice/Impala 4 Door hardtop from ground up, an car that i got from Ohio and all 4 wheel tips/Arches of the wheel openings was rusty & rusted away. I rebuilded with hand/self made new sheet metal (reshaped, welded, cutted,...) for example; Untill i got back really really nice front fenders like new, becaus you can´t get patch pantels for the wheel arch area, only for the lower section and the rear Quarters (in 4 pieces) what i got for these, but because it´s an 4dr Hardtop, i had to reshape the forward parts of the quarters to get "Dog Legs", what was also a little more difficult job. With rebuilding also the full wide of the lower windsiehlt frame....I did that with my 7 yars old Dad, (I´m 35) and still working on the body. This summer i´ve to complete the body work and i hope a paint shop could make a great job about the paint job. But hey, rescue & safe such cars is that what i really like. I really wish i had that nice chance of find such "Junk Yards" to get the next project. I´m often shocked about "What is a Parts Car" at the US, i often see so much potential in restoring a car, esp. because sheet metal work is a nice kind of work, but many people could interchange parts only?? I´m not sure about, but i´m sure about that so many many classics could be safed/restored, if people wouldn´d trash them to such yards where the vintage cars gets crushed. any crushed vintage car is lost forever, that´s the sad. :( At Ger. we haven´t any such nice Junk Yards with vintage cars. Nothing. For me as an big fan of these yards and collections, like you could find untill today at the US, it´s a big wish to go to the US and visit such amazing places, with much more amazing vintage cars! :) I´ll see if the live will give me that chances. I hope! :)

      I was a total visitor to texas (snake land) but my hosts said snakes RUN (or slither) away from people. The trick is to stomp the ground as you approach an old car so they feel the ground tremble / vibrate and get gone (or hide). They only strike when surprised. I only encountered one rattler, a 6-footer that the crew zonked with a hoe as it slithered across the garage floor in the early morning one day.     Lot 288 ,with SS springs in the rear,rolled lips but a SL 6? An aspiring racer looking to hold a record in a lesser class? the tape on the head ports hints that the engine might have been worked.
