Great reaction mate, just wanted to point out that she isn't singing about her first love, the song is referring to Egyptian in general who at that time were immigrating to other countries, and basically just telling them that their country needs them to stay and help make it better if that makes sense

She was born in Egypt to Italian parents. She lived in Egypt then moved to France at 20 year old and has never left France since. She had French nationality after her marriage to Lucien Maurice.
She is considered as a French singer because of her style and carrier that is closer to the French style than any other country. She sang in 8 languages but mostly in French. Thus, she is an international star and an international singer. She was a beautiful soul.
