Helwa ya balady (Egyptian Arabic: حلوة يا بلدي; English: Sweet, O country of mine) is a 1979 Egyptian song by Egyptian-born singer Dalida.
The song is an homage to Egypt, Dalida's birthplace, and is typical of the nationalistic pride felt by many Egyptians for their country since the Egyptian Revolution of 1952. This is reflected in two popular uploads on CZcams,which feature photo slideshows of various aspects of Egyptian culture and history, including Ancient Egypt, mosques, Coptic churches, colonial-era Cairo, modern Cairo, the Red Sea Riviera and the Mediterranean coast, set to the music of Helwa ya balady.
The song is composed in the key of C minor, although the chorus is in F minor.

Dalida was born in Egypt ,her parents were italians .In her early 20's she went to Paris trying to be an actress .But she became a singer ,to the late 50's to the late 80's she has a very successful and international carreer .She was singing in many languages ;french of course ,italian ,spanish ,german ,japonese ,english ,arabic etc ...In the mid 70's she received the award for best selling worldwilde !She was the first to receive a gold record ,the first to receive a platinum record and in the early 1980's they created the diamond record for her !She was also touring the world with her concert !Twice in the late 50's and 70's she refused huge american deal to work more in the USA she prefer her life in France !She came back often in Egypt and she sings songs in arabic like Salma ya Salama and helwaa yaa balaadi ,those songs are still extremely famous .The part when she was crying is when she came back to her children house in Egypt .She has a very large and diverse catalogue ,she was also the first to make disco in France ,she was a disco queen and also she sang many deep songs .Her french catalogue is very impressive .In 1986 she made a movie in Egypt "le sixième jour" in arabic language ,her performance was a huge critical acclaim .May 1987 she commited suicide ,she has a very sad private life ;3 of her ex lovers commited suicide ....
