@@davidblalock9945 Wouldn't you have liked to have known how the toilet and shower worked out and the indoor cooking then? 2-3 days and did not use the heating/AC, indoor plumbing or cooking gear. Might as well have just been a tent trailer test. Solar/battery power ran some lights and some charging apparently. Down 19% in 2-3 days. Minimal usage. 🤔 Idk if I would call this a true camping test of the thing. Certainly not a WAY off grid experience.

Andre/Roman - I've been looking at buying this trailer and just saw this video. You guys don't still have this in Boulder do you? Reading these comments is hysterical. Comparing this to a 5th wheel or cheap box trailer is crazy. I wonder how many people have taken their 5th wheel on a 500 mile dirt road in the Arctic. That is what this trailer is for. $150K for this isn't overpriced when you look at other options. Really glad you guys reviewed this.
No, $150k is crazy expensive when you can get a similarly equipped Coachman Apex Nano off grid travel trailer for under $30k!

You can buy a Dually and a really nice 5th wheel for the price of that thing. 5th wheels are huge, much more space and really nice features. Anything that say 'Overlanding' is automatically prices 30-40% of real value. Some tear drop trailers that literally only allows you to sleep in them are like 13-16k. Ill just get a popup trailer, throw a lift on it, maybe get some square channel for reinforcement and take it off-road for 6k.

I enjoyed the video, but not sure it's a true "review" as he didn't utilize like 1/2 the functionality of the camper (no AC, no heater, no shower, no kitchen). As such, it's a little tricky to get any real insight as to how the solar would work under true load.
I was waiting on the price. Thinking, man I'm interested in this model. 150k! YEAH RIGHT DUDE! Could get a full size truck AND a much bigger/ more comfortable camper!......
They’ll sell three of them to people who think they’ll recover most of the sunk money, drag them through the desert or mountains on two trips, then sell them for $40k. A used trailer is a used trailer. A used trailer towed off-road is only good for salvage parts.
Used they are still over $100k. If you find one for $40k please let me know first!
For those here for something besides hating, ROA did a very extensive walk-through of this on their channel and has some videos of its off road performance - very impressive for something this size. They say it’s also a true 4-season unit rated to something like -40F between insulation and tank heaters. None of the “you could buy X for that price” solutions I’ve seen in these comments have the same capabilities. Long term durability is still an unknown, but it’s nice to see a manufacturer in this segment actually trying instead of just flipping axles and slapping an “Off Road” sticker on the outside of the same disposable units they know will rattle apart on FS roads. I hope the product is successful enough to have some staying power and generate some competition in this segment . . .
Very disappointing that you avoided showing the toilet or any mention of black water capacity. This is a essential component of overlanding (especially when it's raining) even if you use "outside" facilities at other times.
The stock toilet is a dry flush. There is no black tank on the trailer. We did this to extend the off grid capability

Nearly any question you have will probably be answered there. I'm sure if you were prepared to spend $150k on a trailer you'd do far more research than just watching this one video anyways, or at least I would.
So what you're saying is Andre didn't really use the trailer. 😂😂😂 He might as well have camped in a tent! It was a nice walk around video though. Just since you guys live in Colorado, you could have put it through its paces out in the wild.
After the truck and camper, its cheaper to buy some land and put a stabbin cabin on it. And it will hold its value unlike this set up
Rhx for the video.. All of this translates into 100's of thousands of fiat dollars... most in America are struggling to pay their bills. Though, people can dream about overlanding off grid if that is their thing.
If you want to just press a button when you stop offroad, you are right. However if you have no dosh you can offroad camp, you just have to work much harder, so have to add time and energy to your holiday. Better to be young !!

I appreciate the information, but you should have used everything on that rig. How is the hot water/shower? Black tank capacity? How much fresh water? How long can you run the A/C on battery power alone? Induction cook top needs specific cookware to use.
Wow, Andre. Mid-size truck towable? Maybe, if one is extremely careful with how you load the truck and trailer, but you certainly wouldn't be able to do any extended camping. Trailer dry weight 6880#, water, propane, very minimal food/supplies, approx 700# (water weighs 8.4#/gal) for a total trailer weight of 7580# (assuming the dry weight is as advertised, which it rarely is)! Tongue weight 970# (assumes you load the trailer to not add any tongue weight) passengers (3) 570#, nothing else in truck, total 1540# leaving 180# available payload. IF, one is extremely careful, you MAY be able to use a mid-size truck, but the margins are razor thin. Judging by what I saw at your campsite, I would suspect you were over max tow and max payload, unless you didn't have any water in the trailer and filled it when you got to your campground--which would be very hard to do if you were overlanding. You guys generally give great reviews, but given how trailer and car sales people usually overstate the cargo/tow capability of their vehicles, please be a bit more careful about how you represent the ability to purchase a camper like this and to tow it with a smaller vehicle.

It is interesting watching an overview of this trailer from Andre's perspective. In this price range I think it is appropriate to consider your priorities, robust off grid or Airstream luxury. To heavy for my tow vehicle but really great to watch.

Andre's Colorado is fine towing this, but I'd put in a good oil cooler for the transmission. I'd like to know how fast Andre towed it up the mountains on his real trip opposed to the flogging it up the Ike Gauntlet

6:50 it's not the tow rating that determines how much you can tow. It's the rear axle weight rating. Bet that poor axle is overloaded to hi heaven....😮
2:51 YOU DID WHAT, Andre? That Roamer1 STARTS at 6900LB with nearly a 1,000LB tongue weight from the factory and you towed it up there with your Trail Boss? Bruh...that trailer needs at least a 3/4-ton truck to handle it properly.
It’s not unrealistic to add another 1,000-lbs of clothes, food, hobbies, and water to a 7,000-lb trailer. Can you imagine trying to tow 8,000-lbs “off-road?”
@@PlanoRob Our ~3,000LB off-road tear drop is as big as I'd want to take off-road, trailers like the Roamer1 are desert/base camp trailers. I'd like to see them try and take that on one of their milder off-road test trails. They can try to keep up with me and my trailer, but they won't make it.
I watch these vids because I'm truly interested in seeing all camping options out there, even if they aren't "for me" (I like things really simple and inexpensive). I struggle with wanting to leave negative comments regarding price and "glamping" though. I'm really trying to process this. Maybe I just don't leave a comment in the future lol

@crj moto - you can say it overpriced. It’s an objective opinion that is true feedback to the vendor. It’s likely they have sufficient sales they don’t care, but they DID give it to TFL to use and advertise for a year!! I can’t see me paying more than $100,000 for it. That still HUGE money, I’m in Canada so it’s about $140,000 in Canadian dollars. My current RV is $179,000 cad as a Mercedes 4x4 van conversion by Thor. I’ll get my money back, because I want a pickup and truck camper, not elaborate, but with a toilet, indoor or just outdoor shower and under 1900 lbs dry. They are easy enough to find. Haul them to your site , drop the camper off and go 4x4ing!!

Decent cursory review of this trailer, however I noticed you say this is an Australian camper, that it is not. It's designed and built in Wisconsin by Imperial Outdoors, and this bespoke model is offered from ROA out of Utah with the added outdoor kitchen n' other touches. Great trailer though!

Just because you put offroad tires on a regular trailer doesn't make it "offroad". The fact that this behemoth weighs 7000lbs for a 26 foot trailer is insanity and could NEVER be offroaded. Imagine paying $150,000 for a freaking 3 person trailer without any of the amenities and comforts that $30,000 trailers have. Embarrassing.
YOUR 100% WRONG... IT IS A TRUE OFF ROAD CAMPER LOOK AT THE VIDS ... THEN TELL ME IT ONLY HAS OFF ROAD TIRES...
While there are "off-road" trailers that simply have an axle flip and A/T tires, this is not one of those trailers. It is built like a tank. That said, it is way too large and heavy to be practical for most of the off-road, overlanding trails that folks want to go. It would make a great base camp and would generally do well in the desert, which is where this design came from (Australia and Africa), but is poorly suited for many of the forest roads here in North America. Our OGT Pando goes everywhere we want and more and we know it will last.
@@dieseldrax Still way too expensive, worth only 40k at best. And it only sleeps three! Pop-ups can sleep more and are so small that they can go anywhere.

1. I too am interested in how that Colorado tows it. It’s near capacity and the drag from the higher profile only makes it worse.
2. Why take an “off-road” camper to a well maintained Forest Service property. They should be in some dispersed spot.
This made for people who have to much money and don’t know what to spend it on.
This is an awesome trailer camper but it's way overpriced. That goes for anything that could be tagged with the words camping or overlanding. I remember a few short years ago, the MSRP for the black series HQ19 was $65k and I thought that was overpriced. $155k, inflation much? Shane over at ROA is awesome though. Maybe he will do a good deal.
I was interested in Black Series but have read some very concerning posts about electrical fire hazards and poor craftsmanship. Have you had any issues with yours?
Dudes might want to stick to vehicles and not off road trailers. Did you check the 1,100 pound tounge weight when you hooked it to the colorado? This is a 3/4 ton truck trailer
I built mine 60 ft2 (lol) with 350 watts of solar panel, 3-axis coupler, Timbren axle-less ...., I will spend my money on the 4 x 4. Maybe a Jeep, Bronco, Land Cruiser, who knows!

Seriously….you could take a $35k “average” tow behind of similar size, spend $20-25k to add bigger tires, airbags, compressor, solar, and an off road hitch. Use your savings to buy your tow vehicle and still have money left over. Plus, you’d get a real toilet with holding tank.

For that price I could buy 4 of my existing 30’ travel trailer (bought new) plus a roof top tent for my truck to camp off road when I leave the trailer at a campground and have enough cash left over to pay for gas for a few years lol Yes I know obviously I’m not the intended customer even though I live in my trailer full time and do off-road. Not a very relevant test without using the main electrical consumers (especially AC) or using the plumbing for true living. Nice looking trailer and I’m sure it’s well built and actually quite capable but wouldn’t know from this video.
I was into this video then the price hit. You can pay for half a home in some places for that price. I thought I was crazy for buying a Bronco in this market. Guess some lads are madder than I am.

Awesome Camper. I do think mounting the axe and shovel on the outside as shown in photos from Roamer's web site is very irresponsible. When those come lose and fall off on the highway, you are going to kill someone. Cover your load is law in many States!!

This was a terrible “review”. Unanswered: size of fresh, gray and black tanks? Double pane windows? How thick are the walls? What’s the R-value? Are holding tanks insulated and/or heated? Battery capacity? Inverter capacity? Is the fridge ac only, 2-way or 3-way. Great…it has airbags, but does it have any articulation?

I have this level of finish in my Mercedes Sprinter 4x4 conversion. It’s a high quality finish, but there’s different levels of finish in yachts as well. This is an entry level finish in a yacht. Get into high end yachts and they put this finish in?? The buyers would be very annoyed.
I know it depends on what you have been exposed to in life. I thought I heard the representative from the company use that terminology. Salespeople are salespeople. Some need to embellish a little to try to gain more sales. Just say it’s a high end finish, because that’s what it is. When you get into honeycomb aluminum extrusions with exotic wood veneers shaped with compound curves & bends,,,, that’s very high end like that used in private jets and some very high end yachts.
There’s usually 30% room in RV pricing. You are starting to see the big discounts appearing in the low to mid level units. It won’t take long before the pricing gets close to what was normal again. There’s a lot of 2022 units in inventory where I live, the manufacturers seriously overproduced in several sectors. That means excess & aging inventories. Gotta drop the prices to move it.
I could see $100,000 or so for this, but man,,,,, I’ll stay in cabins for wilderness & comfort for a long, long time on that kind of $$.

Dude come on. You can buy a Kingdom Camping XL tandem that is on par if not better speced for 100k. That's 55k less. So if Kingdom can build and profit at 100k IO is netting 50 k on every trailer. That is the definition of price gouging
