    I understand this is a taste thing and anyones opinions on the combat right now, positive or negative, is purely speculation. Including my own.
    However, the amount of people convinced this will be a "generic hack and slash" is a bit concerning to me. I dont know whether the execution of this idea will be good but the game is definietivelu not a hack and slash.
    Pausing the gamescreen when using a skill, AOE markers and placement decisions while this gameplay pause is occuring, the presence of a break mechanic, the presence of an aggroline indiating juggling agro with be a core part of the game, using a skill and switching to a different character being two distinctly different functions. These things are not typical hack and slash mechanics. To me, the this screams xenoblade. dragon age and ff12 also come into mind. Which require more strategy than your typical action game. In other words, it is still sorta an rts.
    These games feature auto attacks for normals which immediately puts fear into peopl. Honestly understandible. But this fear comes from an ignorance of the vast variety of gameplay styles JRPGs have featured in the past 20 years. If they do this right, which remains unseen, this will not amount to a simple auto battler.
    At the end of the day, you are right that we can only wait and see for now. Not enough info to go on.

      unless they make a dozens of low rarity character which is takes a lot of work and we know with complexity of making 3D model and interaction in general is very costly, not to mention the weapon segment has rarity to the weapon, people cope with thinking the weapon is purely craftable only and its weird if the system is different than AK but in the end this is 2 very different game from 2D to 3D shift with different genre so im afraid weapon gacha is the solution (as long its not as bad as GFL2 weapon gacha)

    @redn9215 Před 10 měsíci +16

    It's most likely a closer sector to the main central area where the player gets introduced to the core base building and gathering mechanics, which is probably why it's quite barren. Plus it's base building, you populate the world with your structures and you can't have a world with a lot of enemy spawn spots because they get in the way.
    I'm guessing there will be home defense elements to it which have not yet been introduced since base building is pretty meaningless if it's just for progression. The clip is also not up to date with the upcoming test version so we might see some more improvements.
    It also looks like they adopted the amount of skills in base ak game. If you look at the mc which is 6*, you see that she has 2 actives and an ult. I also see something equivalent to base passives in the character menu and the crafter at the end have some slots where it looks like a portrait fits.
    Graphics are stellar. They went a bit closer to realism with the textures. If you look closely at the clothing, you will see that they actually have physics-based materials for the character models and not flat colors that have been cel-shaded. You can see the light wrap around each of the ridges on the mc's sweater as she spins.
    It all kind of makes me excited for the non-action combat aspects of the game since I dig factory sims, seeing a conveyor belt on an anime girl's inventory makes me act up. I can't wait to bombard the natives with originum shelling.

    • @FeyHunt
      @FeyHunt  Před 10 měsíci +4

      Hehe, glad this game will fit your style then! I haven't dipped into factory-sim yet, so that's why I am afraid this game might not be for me.
      I wonder how would they fit in the Arknights class here though...
      Healer, Guard, Sniper, Caster makes sense. But Shielder? Do you just buff everyone with shields? That makes them Supporter then.
      I don't even know how Specialist will work in Endfield. Do we have immortal character who just won't die? Or a Hookmaster? That's kinda useless in melee combat..

    • @redn9215
      @redn9215 Před 10 měsíci +3

      @@FeyHunt Shielder might be someone who can taunt enemies and draw aggro which is important because everyone is on the field, can't keep them safe by benching them like in other gacha rpgs. Hookmaster I can see being in the game, you single out the more dangerous caster or sniper enemies, other than that idk. Maybe pushers can make immediate threats disengage? like pushing a suicide bomber away.

    • @FeyHunt
      @FeyHunt  Před 10 měsíci +1

      @@redn9215 Interesting ideas! But if you're a Shielder, then you basically let the AI teammates beat them up. Unless you can just toggle the AI to draw the aggro while you play as someone else. I do like the idea of the bomber enemies though. We already have them in Arknights and it is a threat that you have to answer carefully.
      The more I think about it, the more I believe that this game's combat depends on the enemy design.

      I am more afraid of the impact it will have on the writing team. Now they have limitations due to the game being in 3 D so they can't just write a side story or character as usual.
      And waiting months to get a new region would make the world feel dead.
      The solution to this problem is by having the story in an old fashioned Visual novel style for the story covering the region that is under development. With stand alone stories doing world building which will hint at the next possible playable operator.

    There is a statue of patriot on this planet. Boss of chapter 7 in og Arknights.
    Some of the mats in inventory in demo have Rhodes island logo as manufacturers, meaning Rhodes island is relevant in the story.

      We can indirectly threaten the devs by saying "we don't want to play this if this mechanic is not implemented well".
      What we want is a good game, and sometimes, the dev just needs to show the executives that the players will hate a certain predatory mechanic. We gives them proof to argue for a better game against the ever-money-hungry executives.

    Tbf when Genshin first aired it's world was also dead on arrival (I am speaking of the first official Alpha version), there was just Monsdatd and nothing else worth of interest in it's starting area shoe-box region.
    But honestly I do hope that they avoid doing the very same mistake (and even formula) as Genshin. There is no point in having regions that are as fast as the ocean but deep as a puddle, who's main “exploring” point is the feather collection quest from AC2.
    Hybrid between Factorio and Reclamation Algorithm unironically sounds great (in the sense that “regions” offer varying amounts of raw resource deposits that it's up to you to harvest and re-shape the region to your liking, especially if it has greater emphasis macro planning like supposedly “more barren” regions having their logistical/tactical use as satellites, transport infrastructure, or even factories).

    • @FeyHunt
      @FeyHunt  Před 9 měsíci +2

      That proposal you gave sounds like the type of game I will enjoy!
      Of course, my main concern is that Endfield is entering a market with huge competitions. So they can't afford to have the quality of Genshin back then. They need to compete with Genshin as it is right now.
      Oh, and yes, that Ubisoft open world formula of "going to waypoint to reveal the map" or "collect X things in the map" should be retired or modified. I think their approach is for you to make your own waypoint, a much better twist.
      I kinda hate the recent trends of open-world games filling the map with just chests or puzzles. They will need to innovate a bit, and basebuilding does seem to be a good approach.

    great video
    I just wanted to make a note about the story as there is a lot we can actually say about it already
    it looks like an alternate reality and angelina from arknights had some things about being interdimantional traveler (not sure)
    it kinda says that there might be a way to travel and bring stuff with yourself from other dimentions (like the originium in the originium engine they mentioned) there is also smt else that is unnatural and kills people like dissease which might be the originium thingy of Talos 2.
    The lack of nomadic cities was not stated I think, and they did say smt about "incoming catastrophe" but its very open-ended
    the goal of the north, said with patriot's statue (wendigo statue) kinda can be a clue that as wendigos defend north of Terra, the same is for Talos 2.
    and my own theory that combines the dimentional connection, weird voice at the end calling us Endministrator, Oracle, Dokutah and the weird facts like: there are for sure not enough humans on terra to support the "human-race", both Main characters are humans with high mental and strategic capabilities, Endministrators are reffered to as a trump card of the company and are awoken in case of crisis. Basically no matter the world, humans seem like the nuclear option of last resort, kept in secrecy by the main companies.

      I agree. But I'd say the best time to voice our concerns is right now in development. We can yell outloud at them what we don't want while they still can change the foundation. We have the biggest power to not play the game at all if they didn't listen.
      I am worried that something has gone wrong in the development. Endfield was revealed early last year, which we can safely assume that it's out of pre-production phase. If what they showed was just a vertical slice, then they only start full production for about a year. That's already good for alpha/beta.

    I have faith in Hypergryph as this is still an unfinished product; remember how Arknights is massively different and better than its alpha build? But I'll still voice my concern regardless. The character design genuinely feels like it's another generic open world gacha. I'm glad they revamped Ch'en Jr's design to be less revealing, but idk, the characters feel like they come from PGR IP. There's still a sense of traditionalism and classiness in OG AK character design while Endfield just feels too cutting-edge/modern for my taste. In a sense, it's too cyberwear to the tacticool I'm familiar with.
    The male protagonist looks very bland aside from the dripped out fit. Countless trendy hairstyles and they still settle with...that. And they still relied on the amnesia and 'mysterious enigmatic leader' trope too, just once I wish they'd introduce a protagonist who's very involved their line of work down to a T like a true professional.
    I'm also very worried at how their character progression interface feels very familiar to Genshin's, you know how the rest of this argument goes. Not to mention how you can only fit 4 operators in a squad. I hope this doesn't affect the gacha system as well.
    What I liked most about AK was how they handle their world building and politics. It all feels very immersive and had a sense of causality. I wonder how they'll catch the same essence in this new game considering we play as the people who do planet revitalization and Talos-II is the blank sandbox.
    Don't get me wrong, my arguments come from a good place as I've been playing and supporting the game for a long time. I just want to see the franchise I like so much to get out there with great success while still maintaining its innovative uniqueness.

    • @FeyHunt
      @FeyHunt  Před 10 měsíci

      You have some valid arguments and concerns to raise. We love Hypergryph because in the sea of casual gacha games, they are willing to put in the work beyond anyone else.
      They didn't need to go hard on the worldbuilding, or make most story into the quality of an indie film. But they did it anyway.
      We are rightly concerned that in the process of trying to enter a new market, they just resorted to alienate their audience by making the game too casual.

    personally mega disappointed the gameplay isn't stategy based at all. i figured it'd be like xcom or an rts. hack and slash? arknights players aren't going to be a fan considering the depth of a 2d chibi mobile game will probably have 400X the depth.
    hypergryph is soooo good at making interesting strategy mechanics and characters. why would they go the boring gatcha generic route???
    games like arknights are the only gatcha games i will play purely because gatcha works so well with it. plus the competition is all boring mindless games based more on numbers. and now arknights is doing the exact same thing from what i can tell. with a gameplay system that makes the gatcha more predatory with less content-per-pulls if you factor in the fact arknights rosters are 3 times the size.
    even a character as simple as silverash looks like he has more going for him than anyone of these characters here in terms of mechanics and use-cases.
    on a side note, literally everything else looks perfect. just so disappointed the gameplay might end up being a thorn in the side of something otherwise perfect.

    I'm very confused about why people are so hyped about the game, from what we have seen so far we know very little about what we will actually be doing in the game.
    The fight gameplay looks ... fine, nothing too special, wasn't Final Fantasies fight system looking very similar?
    The open world gathering stuff looks super boring (nobody can tell me that running around gathering plants and mining rocks is interesting gameplay) and more like the standard busywork, similar to other open world gachas like Genshin.
    The character designs look good, but also weirdly young (and inappropriately geared for their task, who gave an explorer sword fighter high heels?), but maybe that is what people like?
    The main thing that has me concerned is the base building and crafting, as this seems to be the make or break for the game. The base building and expansion stuff looks interesting, but given that we are lacking a lot of information, it is way too early to be hyped or disappointed.
    What has me worried is the crafting menu they showed, which looks very similar to reclamation algorithm, and seems incredibly bloated (when you need a tab with the wiki open it is not intuitive). Reclamation algorithm was an interesting, but also super half baked, with some good ideas, but horrible implementations, gamemode.
    Overall, until I get my hands on the game and can confirm how the day to day gameplay actually feels, I will be very cautious of all the shiny trailer they release.

    • @FeyHunt
      @FeyHunt  Před 9 měsíci

      Yeah! I shared your concerns in this video. I think this game will live or die based on how hardcore it gets.
      Arknights is a pretty mentally demanding game, compared to other gacha games. So if they are smart, they should go all in on a mindful combat system, very challenging enemies, and on very competent base-building like in Satisfactory.
      If they fell into the trap of making mainstream game to attract more players, they will alienate their core audience from day one.
      Those lore teasers can only do so much before everyone leaving the game.
