You know the drill at this point, remade for cleaner movement, more arte variety, yada yada...
This is much slower than the initial take, which is the result of playing more comfortably instead of trying to nuke Presa as soon as I successfully fish out a lucky perfect backstep.
This is what I originally intended to go for as there are no consistent ways to trigger crit chains against these two and it would all be down to luck. So I wanted a more balanced take for this fight, while these two are more than capable of being a total nightmare, I do think they're the easiest 1v2 to deal with.
I did still still manage to preserve some lucky Splendor Crits from the Splash dodges too!
This time around I managed to show more off managing tight and stressful situations while still keeping my arte chain alive, as well as paying attention to what's happening off-screen (those Splashes are so cheap).
Both girls are rather slow, but they come with a boosted iron stance in this encounter, so it's no longer reliable to count on breaking through Presa with a single hit. Agria's artes still grant her a big amount of extra iron stance once initiated so it's important to stagger her from a slight distance.
Presa still has all her annoying artes like the Page Throw that's extremely easy to get hit by, as well as instant Shugohoujin and who could forget the one second Splash. She still can't be guard manipped which makes her unpredictable, sticking close too often is a death sentence.
Agria is pretty much identical to her Fennmont encounter, except they removed her items (thank god). Because of the boosted iron stance she gets while using her artes it's very easy to die to them while trying to focus on Presa. She can still be guard manipped, however it's still the Drill Attack which reaches ridiculously far and trying to dodge that is basically asking to get killed.
As expected, they can also link, which thankfully makes the fight a bit easier. However they both have access to the skill "Slide Link Artes" which allows them to initiate Raging Mist instantly upon starting casting (and trust me when I say they love to use that..).
It has a fair casting time so it's easy to react to and not too hard to avoid, the sun does have a hitbox at the very center of the spell but if you time a step-jump cancel just as the spell is about to come out you can get out of the range with the diagonal momentum.
After casting Raging Mist, they'll almost always unlink, but with some good luck they'll link back soon after as well as share their HP, which is very convenient as Agria would otherwise be quite healthy once Presa goes down due to her fire resistance.
During Overlimit, they both do like to use their arcanes.. But it's not as likely as it is with the other bosses at least in my experience... So it's better to keep your guard up and perform a quick side swap each time instead.

One of my favorite in-battle quotes for Alvin is: "Watch a pro in action." I feel that watching your Alvin gameplay embodies this quote perfectly; insane movement and control as always.

Ha, it's either that or the "No breaks?" lmao
Many thanks, I strive for optimization! 🫡

Mm, your other fights are normally so one sided, it's really nice to see you styling on the two of them whilst dodging their attacks with barely a moment to spare. I really like the use of Homing Shot to air stall and glide, really clever usage!

This duo being nearly unmanippable (well, Agria's Drill Thrust is just incredibly tricky to backstep without Snap Pivot) really does force a much more neutral fight, and I'm glad I got to have at least one fight like this in the run.
Homing Shot is the true MVP when it comes to movement for Alvin, thanks!

Man the movement throughout the fight was so nice. This really is a pro Alvin player in action.

The amount of control you had here is sick. Awesome job dude!
As a side note (as i noticed this a while ago), i enjoy how you use the thumbnail to show what costume you're using. Just neat little touches help a lot. :P

You can thank Zeke for the extra thumbnail aesthetics 🙏
Thanks! I'm glad to hear these are enjoyable, sometimes I feel a bit silly for always coming back for something to redo since I'm just never satisfied lol

Well tell them they killed it!
Honestly don't feel bad about redoing takes. In this line of content, it's natural to strive to get a better take. :P

Still, you make this tank look so nimble. I got some way to go with my Alvin

And it's all thanks to Chase Bullet! Honestly kinda absurd how a single arte can carry so hard in terms of movement

how do you do that sidestep-like attack? i don't recall having that on xillia 1 lol, it's not charged blow either

    • @JustSamu
      @JustSamu  Před 8 měsíci

There's a skill Moving Assault/Mirage Assault that replaces the L1 normal with that side-step attack, it's very handy when it comes to preserving arte chains
