I only just wish for a reboot of The Legend of Spyro where we can see Spyro go on his adventures all over again, only much more expanded and refined. More games or an animated TV series to be exact.
That way we can see Spyro and Cynder's relationship flesh out to the point where they become lovers. Not just that, but the characters, the enemies, and the whole world.
Sigh... a guy can dream.

@@maverickwolf4980 Universal once owned Spyro the Dragon back when the first game came out. They even had the meet-and-greet character at their theme park before! Now they own DreamWorks, so surely they will.

It’s quite interesting that this paring has existed since 2006 or 2007 making it around 15 years or so.
Spyro and Cynder was my first ship so it holds a place in my heart and it's pretty nostalgic for me. However, I have come to see the flaws in the pairing as you stated in this video as well as from others in the comment section and I'm sorry for those who've experienced toxic behavior from the SpyroxCynder shippers and I can't say I blame them for growing to hate the ship entirely because of it but luckily I don't think there's as many of them nowadays (at least that's what I hope).
With that said, I still kinda ship them despite it's issues and I do wish their relationship could've been developed better.
These two are without a doubt my most favorite dragons of all time. If heaven exists I wish this world to be my heaven with these two.
4:56 To be fair, Cynder went through a lot in TEN (getting captured multiple times, etc.) and in DOTD she is suddenly older, and is chained against her will (which may have been triggering considering she was chained when she was cursed). Though I do agree that it does seem to come right out of nowhere, the devs should have developed that better.
Also didn't help that DOTD was developed by a different company (Etranges Libellules) who did their own take on Cynder's character and wasn't very familiar with the established lore and world the Legend of Spyro takes place in.

@@purplehostofrain1901 Yeah Krome Studios developed ANB and TEN, they created the Legend of Spyro universe and helped established the lore around it, thus making them more familar with it. Etranges Libellules was given the job of developing DOTD and did their own take on the Legend universe and the lore around it as much as they could in short time based on what the story shown in the previous two Legend games.
This means she had what was called the white knight effect when it came to Spyro.

Still one of my favorite couples. Maybe it could have been handled better, but they did it far better than any love story found in Frozen, Twilight, or even some comic book films. I’m a Spyro and Cynder fan forever.

i think if they just removed the "i love you" line, there would still be plenty of fuel for shippers while letting others especulate they are just friends. It's a win for everybody

Can we talk about how Spyro was willing to let the whole world be destroyed because he didn't want to lose Cynder?

He refused to continue fighting just because he didn't want to harm Cynder which goes against his heroism and Destiny to save the world. Cynder literally had to talk sense into him.
i don't think he could defeat malefor by himself. there's also the fact he was still shaken up by the lost of ignitus and all the talking malefor did about cynder bringing him back.
Spyro was mentaly weak at that point, and from what i saw, his biggest fear is being alone. He lost ignitus and had nobody else by his side asside from Cynder and when she succumbed to the darkness, he again felt alone
@@maverickwolf4980 That still doesn't change the fact that it goes against his character. He kinda did the same thing in TEN, when he told Sparx and Cynder to just leave without him at Gaul's place which means he would have died had not Cynder told him to get up. Nowhere is it implied or stated that he couldn't fight Malefor alone which is why he stopped trying. And the fact that Spyro answered Cynder "You left me nothing to fight for" after Cynder asked why wouldn't he fight, flat out means he was ready to give up because of not wanting to hurt her. This act could have endangered everything because Spyro was the hero the world needed, everyone was counting on him. That means he turned his back on what he set out to do. Which is backwards character writing.
@Brodie Gamer Dragon He never did apologize though. He only stopped bringing up the "Cynder is evil" trait after the Catacombs level and then just grew comfortable around Cynder's company that he can leave Spyro in Cynder's care.

That said, it does show how much she wanted to be with sender even if it wasn’t originally intended to be romantic even if it was a rational. Their relationship needs developing but there was one there even if the romantic part was shoehorned.
At least in terms of biology, Spyro being with Cynder makes more sense than Spyro and Elora from the original trilogy or Reignited.
Then, in Skylanders, nobody really knows as Spyro seems to have an equal camaraderie with his fellow Skylanders and shows no additional interest in any other Skylander over others. In Academy, because Spyro is the last of his kind, loneliness could be seen in certain episodes like Thankstaking for the Memories, as he has no one else to turn to when everyone else is busy. His friendship with Stealth Elf may be more than a friendship, as it saved Stealth Elf from getting destroyed by Dark Spyro, who found himself unable to finish her off despite Strykore's push. Spyro had no relationship with Cynder, which was probably for the best, as he's a commoner (an orphan), and she's a noble (a princess).
tbh the only reason I think Cynder said "I love you" to Spyro is because *they were about to die in the core of the earth*. I love the ship so much I want nothing to split it up but the facts are that there are not enough build to it. However, this is also a fancy world so anything can happen, even a sudden romance. either way you see there there and in an adventure together. me personally, I want more Cynder screen time and to her have a secret crush towards Spyro, yet still being close friends. I know a pair that have feelings towards each other yet still be friends. that would be my best setup. thx for this vid, hope to see more soon.
Some will say the ship was forced, some will say it isn't forced. I'm sure both side can gather evidence based on developing stories, the story itself, and circumstance.
But honestly how I personally like to view it is like this, they both went through some much hell together yet at the end of it all they still had each other. They deserve peace and happiness I don't think it's necessarily to point out flaws knowing it's an older game with a wierd budget and a short work period. At it's core it's a wonderful story where the 2 main characters deserve happiness.
Pointing out flaws help improve any future development in case future developers try to reference the Legend games, or in a possible case remake them. The main core story is canon, but lots can be improved.
@@CrystalBlazier You are right but I believe we should hold on the criticism until they bring the legend of spyro series back, but that's just my opinion.
In all honest, this was a really good analysis.
I admit it, I'm a die-hard fan of this ship. It was one of the first I've met and loved that they ended together. But it is obvious why some people are not happy or satisfied with it, with good reason.
But even with the restrains, the dev team did the best they could with them.
In ANB there was enough interraction between them as hero and villain, and at the end as acquaintances and possibly friends from there.
In TEN, it is shown how Spyro cares and is worried about Cynder, enough to defy The Chronicler's order to not interfere.
And in DoTD, while their interractions were... dull and somewhat empty, still there was some signs of care and worry. I'm reffering to the part where Cynder turned dark again and Spyro just felt so powerless to do something, prefering to let her hurt him and seemingly let the world die than trying to hurt/stop her. That says a lot about his character.
Overall, there is just a few interraction between them, but were powerful enough.
Now, is still in debate that if the dev team were given much more time and budget, they would have developed much better their chemistry, along if Krome made the third game then it would have been better, and I say that is highly probable.
I still find curious that Jared Pulled said that while they didn't intend to go for that route, probably they would go for it anyway.
But, it was done the way it was. We know the story, and how it ended and still, the fandom is really fonded to this ship, even if it was rushed.
In my opinion the main problem now are the shippers who just like this ship, and attack the other ones. To the point of harrasing them. That's no good, nor here or in other fandoms.
Also, if they decide to make Cynder appear in the future, I would like they give her much more personality and development, a good story to follow. And if also they try to go with a romantic approach, I hope they do it well, planned, rightfully developed and without reducing her character. There's more than just being the love interest.
Maybe that's why I always wish for a The Legend of Spyro Remake.
And I don't mind if they are seen as siblings. I wonder how many got that impression at first.

The sibling thing at the end is a bad idea. Because just like the rushed love interest thing, the sibling thing also take away any agency for cynder. She either spyro's love interest or she not only because she related to him. Also her features are too different from spyro, ember and flame look more like spyro's siblings.
You’d be surprised how many people out there has siblings that don’t resemble their parents or other siblings. You don’t have to look similar in order to be called siblings, you can look different and still be siblings.
In CrystalBlazier's defense, I could see the siblings thing work for the Classic series. Remember that in that series, Spyro hates romance. Personally, I could see a petty-then-serious rivalry with Cynder working in conjunction with the siblings idea, even if said idea becomes an obvious plot twist.
Your argument on the other hand would open questions about their parents, like "does Spyro take after their father and Cynder their mother", and stuff like that.
Honestly wish i could travel to a parallel universe and see how this series couldve been with a higher budget and more time and with the cut content and lore hell it may have been populer enough to have become a animated series of sorts
While I agree that it wasn't done well. I actually saw what they tried to do. Only issue is, as you said, they weren't given enought time for games themselfs and story to expand more
Personality, I know i'll get so much cringe and disagreement but hear me out. I actually hope they actually keep the love relationship Cynder has with Spyro, but that shouldn't be her entier character. She can still have her own life outside of Spyro, have her own relationships with different characters, her own personality and probably her own rouges gallery of villains. Romantic aspact is just one part of her character, not her entier character as many people like to depict it as

@@ritanman9578 They aren’t canon apparently. The animated shorts are different takes on The Eternal Night story, especially with how Spyro repelled the Temple attack and encountered Arborick.

I'm sorry but I NOTHING WRONG with the romantic chemistry of Spyro x Cynder in The Legend of Spyro. Plus you have to remember that more games in the series were planned to help expand upon their relationship but it's something we never got to see due to Activision burning those future plans down after acquiring the Spyro license.
And that’s fine, it’s your opinion. I know you’re one of the most hardcore SpyroXCynder shippers out there, HolyCross, since day 1, so you’d have no issue with the trilogy’s rushed romance chemistry (as mentioned in the video in fact). X3
There's nothing wrong? I'm sorry but I just don't see the chemistry. They are not well developed. They hardly have chemistry despite the sugarcoating done to make their relationship seem like it makes sense. Cynder and Spyro only knew each other for several weeks and afterwards, their relationship was reset after the time crystal which created a 3 year gap for them. They also were forced together through a chain that's supposed to represent a deep bond but one that's not expanded upon quite well. Cynder and Spyro are mostly too busy needing to fight enemies and go through dangers to focus too long on each other. And this all happens in only 2 days, and they're suddenly in love? And the fact that is was never supposed to be makes the pairing even worse.
I guess growing up you never think of it much and ship it anyways. Especially if were (and still ARE) A massive dragon lover
Personally I think they were still only friends in TEN and things did not begin to change until DOTD. Yes, things happened pretty quickly but I guess we are supposed to suspend our disbelief with the notion that people learn more about each other more quickly when under duress. Plus there was some time we didn't get to see where things may have developed further, such as the journey through the hidden tunnel to Warfang and the nigh before they went after the Destroyer. Yes its a bit thin but we can use our imaginations to fill in the gaps. Plus, think about all the romances in almost all disney movies. Simba and Nala were only friends when they were cubs but knowing each other for five minutes as adults when the meet again they are suddenly in love.
Honestly I adore Spyro and Cynder as a couple and I love the fact that they went with it even if it was kind of contrived as a final gift to the fans. If they bring her back in future games I'll totally get why the may choose not to go the romantic route as it would seem out of character for classic Spyro, but I'd just be grateful to have her back.
Honestly, the only ones who believed Cynder's only role was to be Spyro's love interest are bellow 12yo kids entering pre-teenage years (my sister was a good example) maybe because they don't see the bigger picture and only at what is shown to them.
i honestly don't necessarily need them as a couple in spyro 4, but if done right then yeah, i can enjoy it. It's been over a decade since TLOS, they must have learned how to do propper romance or at the very least throw hints
Yeah as a kid i always shipped them from the beginning, but every point you make is Crystal clear and SO right. It should NOT have been pushed in at the end; fans should have been given the free roam to imagine what they will.
And i must confess, the thought of them being siblings in another universe... gives me the willies BECAUSE of how much I’ve shipped them 😂 but it would still be interesting!

I honestly don't see a problem with Spyro and Cynder being siblings, because it could be like an homage to how Luke and Leia from Star Wars (which would fit since Mark Hamill voiced Malefor) discover that they have a familial connection, and it may build on why Spyro was worried for Cynder after she was freed from Malefor's control, like when he learns the truth about their connection, he would put the pieces together and figure out how in ANB he kept thinking Cynder was a lot like him, especially when he said "There was something in her eyes Ignitis, something familiar," followed by Ignitis telling him "There should be Spyro, you and Cynder share more than you know." Keep in mind that there were Luke X Leia shippers before the revelation, even when Han was the one who goes with Leia.
the pairing isn't the problem, activision rushing the game is. a lot of corners had to be cut to deliver the game in 2008 but it should have been finished a year later at least. the scene of cynder wearing those bracelets and collar as a way to get over her fear of being chained was cut and would have been great for character development
if you ask any spyro x cynder fan out there, there is a big chance that they will agree that the romance could have been done better. From what i saw in the trilogy, they barely talk to one another, they have almost zero interactions and worse of all, in DotD they don't even look like they are friends. All of that could have been added in DotD without problems, adding in good conversations that shows they really are friends (romance doesn't start without friendship) show them helping each other, add scenes of character development to show they both are their own characters that can live by themselves (the bracelets scene that was cut had a huge potential, honestly) and actualy 'fight' dark spyro and dark cynder.
by that i mean something simillar to Resident Evil 5 where Jill is being manipulated by that red stone on her chest and Chris doesn't harm her but keeps trying to get her back to her senses. Seeing Spyro and Cynder doing something simillar when they are being manipulated by dark energy would show that they really do care with each other and would also make the "you left me nothing to fight for" scene more meaningful because Spyro would remember not only the fight he had in ANB, but also everything else they had gonne through together and how they trust each other. There, i just added the chemestry this pairing was lacking in the games
For as much as i love TLOS and the pairing, i can't help but wonder what could have been if they had more time to do the last game. It's like ice cream on winter: tastes good, but lacks the key element of hot weather to be trully delightful.

Most Spyro X Cynder fans talk about how perfect and beautiful the pairing is and treat it like a divine masterpiece.

@@veryfawni It was confirmed by one of the story producers on the old Sierra Community Forums on The Legend of Spyro: Dawn of the Dragon back in 2008. So much content was planned but cut due to lack of budget and not enough development time.

Honestly I think the TLOS should be remade with new content and new additions to the story to expand to it and fix the gameplay. TLOS has a great story but is flawed in its gameplay, I wish Spyro and Cynders relationship wasn't shoehorned in but maybe if this game was remade we can get a better relationship and story between them. I do ship them, I do think they have some chemisty and some moments but thats honestly just me. I am glad that this relationship wasn't forced via threats or anything like that but the author thinking about it and liking the idea. I hope one day TLOS gets another chance to shine, it probably won't happen but it is a dream.
I’m actually glad you’re making more discussion analysis videos. Do you ever plan on remaking that Spyro’s Kingdom one? I feel like it’s a message that REALLY needs to be spread with a lot of toxic Classic Spyro fans who are pretty much the reason Skylanders has been looked down upon by the world.

The creators should honestly make a movie off of this. Like pick up on the scene after seeing their spirits flying over the Valley of Avalar. Give the two dragon's spirits a new mission fighting a new nemesis. Or focus on a new protagonist being helped by Spyro's spirit; but now that I think on it, Spyro is an icon character, so they may not want to make a new protag. If we're talking on the shipping subject - maybe pair Flame and Ember together. They'd make a good ship. I agree though. Maybe the romance is a little rushed; but that's just how the creator's wrote it.
I really do love the relationship between Spyro and Cynder as lovers in The Legend of Spyro Trilogy the reboot series of Spyro the Dragon video game franchise.
And I wouldn't for fan favorites of Spyro franchise: Cynder will be appeared as a re-introduced character in new Spyro 4 as the next Spyro game in 2022 so she could join the adventure with Spyro and Sparx to save the day for the first time for Cynder to be in the original series of Spyro franchise because that'll be cool. I could imagine that.
I don't know yet. But just maybe she could be appeared in new Spyro 4. But that's in depends.

Io non credo perché se noti nel finale della serie originale intendo Reignited Trilogy quando hunter e bianca si baciano lui dice che l' amore e una cosa inutile e rende deboli inoltre se cerchi sulla wiki Spyro viene descritto come spavaldo e testardo invece in Legend of Spyro solo nel primo capitolo e così ma poi si nota un percorso di crescita di fatto si preoccupa per gli altri e si fa aiutare invece Spyro originale se notate solo contro ripto lo aiutano Ma lui accenta l aiuto senza ribattere come se fosse obbligato per il resto lui fa tutto da solo e come se volesse dimostrare di essere il migliore. se cynder di fosse in uno Spyro 4 penso che sarebbero solo amici al massimo rivali a chi sconfigge prima i nemici forse succedere tra qualche anno e Spyro sarà diventerò più maturo ma non ci conterei

I like the ship and I don't have any opposition towards Spynder becoming canon in Spyro games, but considering the fact that she's only had 1 major incarnation in the Spyro franchise, I'd want her to have some more non-romantic-interest roles first. I also really like the friendship she and Spyro have in the Skylanders series.

Okay so late comment here, but I grew up knowing- and loving The Legend of Spyro trilogy before descovering the original games. TLoS was my very first introduction to the purple dragon. That said, I legit though as a kid that Spyro and Cynder were siblings until one of my friends pointed out the obvious lol.
I just hope this trilogy gets revived like Reignited did.
I hope Spyro and Cynder come back verry soon on a cool design at a movie series and games.
That would've made more sense. I personally believe that spyro x cynder were meant for eachother even before the first game after she was created and brought in the game. I do 100% respect all your points. The chemistry was a bad rush but a 50/50 as well. :)
Oh my god, THANK YOU. When I played the first two games as a kid I interpreted them more as siblings, especially with the lore that they came from the same clutch of eggs.
Turns out the eggs all came from different dragons who brought the eggs to the Dragon Temple in an attempt to keep them safe during the war. Unfortunately it didn’t work. :(
Don't know, something in Eternal Night's ending cutscenes tells me this was actually a core point, cut out from story2 due to production problems with the hope of doing it better in story3(Dawn of the Dragon, or what would have been in its place).
Don't see a remake coming for this saga, TEN paid too much being a reskin of ANB and DotD is maybe too different from the other two.

There also has been Ember in Spyro a hero's tail but he was never really interested in her.
And Ember ended up with Bandit as seen in Shadow Legacy.

At least Skylanders Academy ended before they did something stupid for that to happen, like a revelation that Spyro is actually a Dragon Prince who survived the Great War before he even hatched thanks to his mother's quick thinking before she got killed for betraying Strykore.
To be fair, in the last game they were basically in a war, and nothing makes you rush life and relationship choices like war.

although i don't like Tlos games , I dislike the gameplay (i started with the first trilogy on ps1),but i find the relationship between SxC very cute and i love cynder personally
after between Elora , Ember and Cynder, Cynder is much more interesting on all points
that SxC is brother and sister, I think a lot of people were already thinking about it, but honestly that doesn't change the relationship between SxC as it is about dragon, not human, and especially that cynder grew up in war and torture, while Spyro has to travel. so is this really a highlight? nope , and I would say that it allows to add a side "I am not perfect" to the hero
I even think that malefor is the father of SxC ( in the Tlos story )

To make it worse, I saw things in the scenes you showed that would have been very logical interactions to build a romance on, but it appears that they never done that. Disclaimer: I have never played TLOS trilogy. I am simply analysing the scenes you showed.
That’s because those cutscenes were the only times we’ve seen Spyro and Cynder together onscreen after Cynder was purged of Malefor’s corruption. Before that, she was trying to kill Spyro and/or stop his progress while corrupted. A number of weeks have passed after Cynder was turned good at the end of the first Legend game, but we don’t see how her and Spyro’s relationship builds up besides just their friendship.
The shipping of these two dragons seems rushed and the audience only becomes influenced more about these two just having the need to be together but I just hope that when cynder returns in a future spyro game that she is well not a villain but a challenging kind of dragon towards Spyro they are both heroes and they are both friends and love cannot be found until friendship comes first and I know I am coming off topic here but another idea I have for cynder is what if cynder can use her blade like wings and tail as element deflectors hear me out for example if lightning were to strike cynder all she would need to do is hold her blade and or blades at a certain angle and it would just deflect off of her and think about this after all the years of cynder fighting along side Spyro she would gain slow motion vision and yes I think Spyro would gain that as well I mean why do you think jugglers are so good at juggling its because of years of practice and hand and eye coordination and the eyes well when you need to react to catching something quickly well your eyes will just do the work of seeing things move slower well not 100% or 50% slower but slow enough for you to react on it in time for you to not fail but going back to my idea of cynder having this new ability I think I would just have made cynder here more of a bad ass angel of darkness fear and terror 🎉😊❤ 23:02
Thanks, you for covering this huge topic of the fandom! and you pointed out everything and clearly explained really well, even some of them I didn’t notice, this one in particular it been on my mind a long, long time honestly, and it was not really brough up (at least in a single post, video, blog etc. you get it) that I was starting to wonder when someone would do it, even cover it myself!
For years due to my experience whit the ship in the fandom, I can say I fell into the minority that is neutral, isn’t that interested or doesn't like the ship that much (it confusing even for me XD)

though in my long years of this fandom, which it my first one and favourite since 2009, the same time I was discovering the internet as a young naive 13/14 years old). Since the begging, I didn’t fell as interested or enthusiastic as other fans for the ship, be in the small Spanish Spyro community and forum (Spyroparadise and Spyroparadise II) or In DeviantArt, ( and the occasionally not-registered visits to the Darks pyro and Spiro forums), as I was more interested and amaze by I other aspects of the story , like the elements, places, or the characters and family relationship, rather than romance aspect, do it for personal reasons of not begging interested in romance at all or verry little in my pre-teen, early teen year and late teenage years.
Even before I joined the community or herd about it, in the game ( which I saw in CZcams, I couldn’t afford a ps2 at the moment) I remember begging confuse and sup rice at Cynder confession in the last minute, I remember I didn’t know how to take it or react to , because I didn’t see it coming really honestly, you could say it was my young self not knowing about love, but other things like the hp books or Disney film or other films I saw younger, build up the relationships slowly for me to understand what was happening.
That lead me feel a bit leaf out, really........sense the ship was all over the places in the sites I log in to usually, at first, I take it all like anyone who is young and its curiosity is unlimited, even found it cute or funny in the fandom comics or drawings...... but I remember when I started to express myself in drawings or fanfics, of what I found more interest in at the time, (specific Spyro and lgnitus son-father bond, which I consider like some of fans at the time, biologically related, even before it was sort of confirmed, even if not really canon-cannon........... and oh boy! I was really mostly or sometimes only focus on them at the time!!!) my opinions started to shape a bit.
As my young non-confident, and introvert person, it was my only way to express, (and the closest friend I had at the moment). But I was so afraid that people didn’t take interest on my fanfic because of the lack of SpyrosxCynder, that I include it , for the fear of begging not notice or left out., as everyone around include it,... it was forced and rushed interactions as much as it look in the game, but at least I remember I really consider Cynder as a character and not only as a romantic interest, even if she was not my favourite character or a big fan of her as other around me, or write about her as much as other ..... I still consider her, as someone how wasn’t only a romantic interest, for me he was just another character, and for me he was better of whiteout the romance thing in my story and showed to be a strong and interesting character herself alone, which was really nice ( more nice and lees snappy than dawn of the dragon Cynder) , supporting and friendly towards Spyro and that she interact whit the guardians much more and confident character than only had to forgive an heal herself because of her past trauma.
So, I felled like a rare-breed in the fandom for a long time, but not felled superior or unique or happy as you may think reading this, I did really feel happy creating content or drawings I enjoyed. like ideas, fan characters, Au’s, interactions AND head canons (even not knowing they were!) . I did yes, enjoined many Spyro X Cynder fanarts, fan children of artist I liked or admire when they appear, and see a lot of variety in story’s, noncharacters, comics, discover a lot of wonderful artists they make me what to be better at drawing or tell ideas. .......... but I fell really left , especially in DeviantArt, yes... now I attribute it to the lack of my social conversation, confident, commenting do to my own insecurities , or my lack of drawing skills or promotions there..............,but I must Admit! that one moment I really thanked I would be more known in the fandom if I did more content of the ship , or draws or interaction between them….n tried to draw one of them, because I one point I felled was the only dumb one who didn’t get it.....to the point and started to get a bit bitter over the fact
And then they came for me the years of the wars of the shippers! oh god.... the people that have the mentality of ''my ship is the better! and it the only valid here!" or ''they are canon! '' people who feel offended over a simple ship and make pointset conversations ,attract or insult other for the sake of tying or concise or invalid other people , whiteout realising the was another living begging in the other side of the computer....hat make the fandom a warzone for a while ----------and make me sad, because for a time ( 2013/1014 till the 2016 ) make not like the ship at all or started the Fundación’s form me of not like in it at all, even despite it, found it annoying or for a small, small moment , it hate it .. and cinder alongside it importunely (but that another opinion like we said here '' harina the otro costal'‘)
And really made me wonder, what the fandom became to the point, alongside the other huge topic that is constant war every time a new generation comes (you know the one) on it and make me focus on the other more healthy or interning things of the trilogy, or (even if I started going for other fandom and stared to take intent in other things),
... it found it my opinion at the time, whit what I discussed my close friend and now boyfriends that, they most fans only see the romance thing going on in the trilogy, and didn’t now appreciate other things about it really, and the only way to engage someone its Spiro content it was if your fanfic had Spyder on it (that obviously not the case of course!!! It a very limited vision, but it true that most of the fandom loves the pair)
And this came at the time Jared appear in DeviantArt (2016/2017) and anew Dragonoficeandfire question, which make me have more a strong opinion of not having to feel like I was imagine the rush up not well developed relationship in the game I felled sense the beginning despite now be able to explain why it felled that way at the time , and whit it I found lots of people that that share the opinion that didn’t like Spynder at all ( at least it is what I know it to call as recently) as the same time they didn’t judge other for so.
And I felled no logger alone and also could started to share, as I was confident more in myself to talk and share my opinion more openly public, lowering to not only observe and be quiet …………. even if I was afraid someone would jump on me because of this, it was valid to express myself, still politely and respectfully of other opinions, why I wouldn’t put the ship in my story’s because I didn’t understand never the Spynder ship at all, but not extend as this post.
Even if I did rely find the fanarts cute or even I did make a fanchild of Spyro and Cynder, for artistic, curiosity and fun purpures, in the end I mostly didn’t really like it or understand the huge thing of the fandom for them.
So yes, that why I am not near never of shipping them really, at lest I am neutral about them, I am more inclined like some make them be more like brother-sister or friends in my verse and fanfics, like Skylanders academy.

I add that When I got back more renewed to write and draw, investigating and analysing the trilogy I notice this about the lack of budget and time of the things that were left out of the games like planned cuteness of Cynder, and as you pointed out all those little things like little interaction, little time , concern-worry donse’t mean romantic love intantly and all the little things like that they use poorly Cnyder character, specialy in dodt.
And if they bring back Cynder in the classic for a 4 game, yes, I agree as you say if they go for a relationship, they have done it right and well contacted are even a friendship that could be hated lightly to a romance, but yes Cynder has so much potential, as a female character she was already really great, that she can shine more on his own like in Skylanders academy did to her.

I ship theme but yeah it was rushed if they do bring Cynder back they should have her be a rival by having her be a peace keeper who looks down on Spyro for being a artisan dragon and have her challenge Spyro for the collectibles instead of hunter and they can build there relationship from there

Alright, so I'm typing this comment as I watch the video.
My first thoughts are - yeah, the romance was shoehorned, but from what I can remember - note I haven't really played through the game in like, ten years, lol - a lot of the game wasn't very developed. LIke, Ignitus' father-son relationship always felt to me like something people kept saying but I saw no real proof of until recently I began rewatching old DOTD clips. But even then, I always felt more like Ignitus was using Spyro as dragon of prophecy. So, with Spyro and Cynder, I never remember them being outwardly romantic at all, and I know the creator said they were shoehorned in.
Personally, I think the shipping seems pretty cute, and they do show a lot of togetherness in Dawn of the Dragon. Cynder's kinda more likely to laugh or even tease others, like going along with Sparx. Spyro isn't as cocky as in other incarnations, but he's more likely to be the serious person to carry on the show.
So there, that's my bias, so you know what to take with a grain of salt, and I start:
Okay, so you talk about the original and how Spyro was never interested in love - that's... not quite a right interpretation of that scene imo. In that scene, you left out the context of the fact that Hunter is, and was, going gaga for Bianca, even leading to him acting stupid like "she's kinda cute" - "she tried to fry you" - "but she was aiming for you".
Spyro's line there wasn't about how he hates love, the line is really just him verbally rolling his eyes at Hunter's behavior. But saying Spyro had no love interest is kinda weird because for one, Elora sits down and watches fireworks with him, and he reacts pretty hot to her kiss at the end of game two. Not to mention, any time the fairies kiss him, he literally gets superheated breath from his blushing (though you could say that's not "love" that's "lust", I don't think he'd be at the age to distinguish).
Okay so you mention them showing no romantic interest in the first two games - that's entirely true, I totally agree. I guess you could say, retroactively there's shipping hints (like Spyro following Cynder and being obsessed with her, or Cynder still teaming with Spyro), but everything also falls under "Their friends". However, I think that's still a good basis for a romance is that they're friends first. If your best friend is your romantic partner, I think that's pretty great.
Talk about a couple of weeks not being enough - to be fair, in a lot of fantasy, time can get weird. Because the writer and fans perceive time as being the amount of stuff they've "watched" or read, so even if, say, a series takes place over two days but in real life is over the course of two years, that can feel like people have known each other forever. But yeah, I see what you're saying and I agree, that's just me providing an alternate point of view and maybe how people felt.
You mention how in dawn of the dragon, Cynder is given a different personality - I agree sort of? She's definitely more bubbly and cocky in DOTD, but even in the Eternal Night, in the trailer, we see her joyously bouncing around to show Spyro stuff. We also see that she's still cunning - a trait that we see in Dawn of the Dragon. Though in the Eternal Night, she's more morose. So more like a temperament shift I think.
Now you claim she was a jerk towards everybody and how that's not great for a romance - so Cynder was snarky, but maybe not a jerk. She was mostly bantering with people, like "Oh keep it up Sparx, I think it's working." Or "Great to ruin the mood". Or "Why should you lead" - that last part being a fair question as why should Spyro still get to keep being in control. She's the one who's been chained most of her life.
I'm gonna break my review review up into another part.
Part: Yeah I totally agree this is the only time they've really had much time to talk.
Now you repeat the Ignitus' death part twice now, like that's the magical start of Spyro and Cynder's shipping in DOTD. I'm hoping that has back-up, because the only thing I can think of is the comforting scene.
Alright - yeah I see where you're coming from with the idea she's acting more like a jerk to everybody, though I think she was just annoyed with the situation. A lot of this also shows them comforting one another.
You talk about how some members of the fandom believe Cynder's only existence is to be Spyro's girlfriend. I'm sure there are people, but that's a weird argument. I'm not sure where you're going with this.
I thnk a lot of this is you framing this as solely negative, or like they tried to warp everything to fit this narrative - but that doesn't really strike me as true at all after seeing the cutscene montage. If anything, seems like they both thoroughly cared for one another, and in a way, were each other's knights in shining armor. You say Cynder was just there to "provide physical and emotional support" but throughout that game, she comes up with plans as well, she's comic relief, she barks orders during battle to moles and protects them. Before then, she becomes a gladiator, she's someone who's been affected by the dark master.
I agree with the general premise, the relationship didn't feel like they were necessarily romantic partners. But upon rewatch, I feel like them becoming romantic partners isn't shoehorned, just one path of many others.
Overall, I think some of these points are solid, but I feel like a couple of parts you intentionally spin the narrative.
@@jacavaloncross6744 I was mostly pointing out how there was no romantic chemstry between Spyro and Cynder, how it was shoehorned into being lovers because of fan service last minute, and how I think of it. It's not like I'm forcing anyone to see my narrative. But it is fact that their love wasn't planned and only shoehorned; if you don't see it as such, more power to you. If the games had more development time on the games and the lore, the buildup to them falling in love would've been more developed and not rushed.
I'm also slightly confused by some of your arguments though. In one of the old Spyro 2 epilogues, Spyro missed his chance with Elora when they were on the loveboat ride in Dragon Shores, not to mention in Spyro 3, Spyro outright says "love is a plague". You can sit next to someone and still be friends non-romantically, unless you really see it as romantic and such.
I wouldn't take in Cynder's personality in that TEN promo trailer as part of the canon, since that trailer along with the other two direct sequels to it are just animated shorts that were only made to promote TEN (Spyro even encounters Arborick in the last animated short): czcams.com/video/pvESV9Sau9o/video.html
If you've been around the Spyro fandom long enough (2008-current), you'd be surprised at how many fans there are that think Cynder's only purpose is to be Spyro's mate/girlfriend and would gladly turn away a new game if Cynder was in it but doesn't hook up with Spyro. Some even today outright harass other fans for having an opposing opinion about SpyroXCynder.
Wait THAT'S your idea of a shoehorned couple. I'm sorry but Spyro and Cyndervare not a forced couple. In fact these two probably are one of the fictional couples that have the best chemistry in franchise history.

0:57 Actually you could argue that the union of their destinies started way before Dawn of the Dragon, probably starting after Spyro freed Cynder from her corruption or even further when when they became the only two survivors of an egg genocide.
2:12 That's not what's stated there at all, Jared Pullen said that Cynder was originally intended to have a platonic with Spyro at first. However the team adored the fandom shipping of these two so much that were inspired to make the relationship canon, no higher ups or outside influences forced them to make Spyro and Cynder a pair the team made that choice on their own free will as a reward for the fans for giving them so much support. If a company making two characters a couple on their own terms as a means to please shipping fans is a shoehorned concept the you might as well say that Spyro fighting bad guys is a shoehorned concept to please the action fans, or that the music is a shoehorned concept to please music fans, and that the level design is a shoehorned concept to please atmospheric beauty fans.
Besides he concludes with that he would've eventually gone with that decision anyway so Spyro and Cynder ultimately would've become a couple regardless of fan opinion of the two.

You mean besides one saving the other from damnation of dark servitude, showing concern for the others well being and wanting that person to stay close to them, working together to escape a death game together (until a certain third party showed up) going through all shorts of dangerous scenarios and imminent doom just to secure the future and safety of someone else, quelling someone's rage (twice) when they succumb to a dark power, combining their might to escape another imprisonment much later on against a earth golem, sticking together to win an entire war, attempting to comfort the other during their time of self-inflicted shame of not being there at a certain time, guilt of past actions, and loss a family member, resisting to hurt another even in self-defence and admitting how much they mean to you in your life, stopping an apocalypse together, refusing to leave the other's side for your own safety (twice) even when they're about to do something that could cost both of you're lives, and finally admitting certain feelings to that person as your (possibly) final words in life?
3:50 Spyro was actually onto Cynder's true personality when he looked into her eyes during a battle in A New Beginning, he said that there was something familiar in her eyes and Ignitus then informed him on her true origin.
4:38 Ok that's a bit of a stretch, for one thing there still might be plenty of ADULT dragons to help repropulate and there might be other clusters of eggs that may have been spared from the aps' wrath. If the dragon race was so endangered to the point of Spyro and Cynder basically having to play the part of Adam and Eve then the dragons would be pretty screwed since the next generation would be all blood related.
4:55 I'll admit considering how she was written earlier having Cynder behave randomly mean to her friends is a little off putting. However put yourself in Cynder's 'shoes' and see if you don't come out a little tense and aggravated, regardless that isn't even the case, Cynder was only acting that way through most of the BEGINNING of Dawn of the Dragon. She actually starts lightening up and showing sympathy towards Spyro when they made camp for the night in the Valley of Avalar during Spyro regret of not being able to help with the war during his time being frozen and this is LONG before Ignitus 'death'. You yourself showed footage of this at 16:47.
20:16 Well clearly that portion of the fanbase either didn't play them games or weren't paying attention. For an 'emotional crutch' she wasn't really around to give him much emotional support until the end of Eternal Night and the beginning of Dawn of the Dragon. If seeing her portrayed like that in Dawn of the Dragon was a thing then obviously context is going over some people's heads as it wasn't exactly cupid that chained them together in the first place.

21:01 Story wise God knows what transpired between Spyro and Cynder between those unknown number of weeks but clearly there was something Spyro developed towards Cynder to have him say "Cynder, I don't want you to go" in Eternal Night so clearly he had developed some sort if comfort (maybe even pleasure) around Cynder's company. Spyro and Cynder still have developed much better chemistry in one game alone than dozens of other fictional couples do in entire tv seasons or series of movies. I bring this up because apperently we need to be exposed to much worse scenarios in order to count our blessings.
21:35 Hmm... do you really want to start a shipping war between the Spyro x Cynder fanbase and the Spyro x Elora fanbase? I suggest another universe ( or just continue the Legend series) where they just cut out the middle man and have Spyro and Cynder as a pre-established couple, building on their relationships for there. Kind of like a married couple in a tv show that have to work out through relationship strife every now and then, that way you would practically have the best of both worlds.
A shoehorned love interest would that pink bat girl that showed up seconds before the movie Anastasia ended or Amanda from Star Fox Command who was first introduced as Slippy's fiancee (though to be fair she still had an arc). Not a character the main protagonist spends an entire trilogy forming a bond with.

As soon as the Krome Studios devs confirmed that they decided to make SpyroXCynder canon because of the fanbase when it wasn't planned, I had a feeling there was a reason why their love felt shoehorned and was portrayed as it did. Plus the budget cuts and time constraints didn't help matters much either.

Yeah, it was rushed as hell. I mean, in second to last chapter, she even said she'll ONLY go with Spyro to get rid of chains. It was literally at the final boss when there was soooome kind of spark, but it already didn't make any sense whatsoever, because at the end, for no reason, she just casually out of nowhere said "I love you". Like WTF?
I'm so glad to finally see someone else speaking out about this ;A; I always felt like the minority in the Spyro community since I never liked Spyro and Cynder as a couple. On top of their romantic chemistry being rushed, they are too young to understand what romance is or feels like. (just because they physically aged in the crystal doesn't mean they mentally aged!! there was nothing in the crystal so.. how would they learn anything? they are older teens with the brains of a 12 year old in TLoS: DotD)
Honestly this was something I wanted to do for a long while, and I'm relieved that I finally got to speak out about the rushed chemistry of SxC and help spread the word that the romance wasn't intended.

i agree in parts with you. they could have done it better but could also be worse. In a way, letting fans speculate what happens at the end of DotD would also be great. If they remove the "i love you" line at the end but keep all the rest of the game the same, then presto. Fans could still ship them while others could only see them as friends or even (one of my favorites) a "sibbling of another mother" kind of relationship. I still like the pairing, but just throwing the hints in the final cutscene before the credits and the after credits scene of them flying together could have been a much better outcome

The mere fact she had chosen to stay with Spyro in the core of the earth while it was about to explode is enough hints that they have a thing going on for some people (myself included) OR that they share a sibbling relationship without parents (or maybe Ignitus was the closest Cynder had from it at least) OR OR that they are just the bestest of friends. Removing that line would have made the romance much better imo cuz at least it wasn't forced

If I had to write the legend series, I'd forgo the whole "Spyro is Sparx's adoptive brother" and compress the prologue to being right before the start of the game (alla Spyro 1998) and the two of them plus Cynder are refugees all together (I like Spyro better when he has a can-do attitude instead of an average joe vibe to better fit the prophecy). Cynder is characterized as a brat who likes to dunk on the boys yet more importantly gets plans in motions and utilizing guerrilla tactics so that she has actual value both narratively and emotionally. I'd even have Cynder be either Malfor's daughter or a descendent of a family/race that directly rivals the purple dragons or a great warrior that served him (ignitus and the others ultimately agree to keep her because nature v nurture, screw predetermined destinies and crap), both explaining Cynder's natural intelligence and giving Malfor a reason to kidnap her.
Then when she's captured, turned into her adult form and back, she becomes the more reserved dragon similar to her personality in the games, which puts a chip on both her and Spyro's shoulders (making the series as dark as they wanted) and pulling them closer, as well as making them mature fast (though the witty banter is still there).
EN and DOTD would be spent entirely on further exploring themselves while trying to build themselves back-up again afterwards. Regardless of rather or not their feelings stay platonic or blossom past that, them being together is what ultimately defeats Malfor.

I don't think the developers were harassed. They saw how much the shippers were shipping SpyroxCynder that they decided to make it canon in the game. Although doing so made the major SpyroxCynder fans spoiled, and it seemed out of nowhere storywise.

@@avadoksorem2854 A lot of stuff could’ve been been handled appropriately during the yearly development cycles. Most Spyro fans think about it every once in a while when talking about improving the LOS trilogy with ideas of more budget, consistent art style and more dev time. But it is what it is. All we could do is point out the pros and cons and what can be improved.
I used to be neutral about the Spyro X Cynder ship and kinda thought it was cute to some degree, but after encountering some really crazy fans and seeing the disrespect they have towards other ships like Spyro X Elora and Spyro X Ember, on top of discovering the fact that they were never meant to be a couple, I have to say that Spyro X Cynder is a ship that never should have happened at all, because it caused so much divisiveness in the Spyro fandom, and usually it's the Spyro X Cynder fans who go after anyone who ships Spyro and/or Cynder with other characters, whether they're official characters in the series, or OCs, and treat the ship like that it's a law that has to be obeyed by everyone and that any fan who doesn't support the ship are not "true Spyro fans," basically pulling the No True Scotsman fallacy, and they bully and harrass the anti-Spyro X Cynder shippers, even the ones who have valid critiques towards it. If anything, Spyro and Cynder should have just remained as friends only, and even though Cynder said "I love you" to Spyro, it should have been interpreted as them developing a sibling-like bond. While I prefer to stick with them being actual siblings as they've been established to be born in the same clutch of eggs, even if they're not related, Spyro and Cynder seeing each other as brother and sister could have perfectly fine. What was presented here and what the shippers argue leaves unfortunate implications that Spyro would let the whole world be destroyed and friends die just for a girl he just met and only known for a few days, which would mean nothing at the end because he and Cynder would also die along with everyone and everything else. And to those claiming they "deserve their happiness," you don't necessarily have to be in a relationship to find happiness. Spyro and Cynder can stay as close friends and still have each other. Not everything has to have a romantic ending. All in all, Spyro X Cynder is a shoehorned and forced ship with no real chemistry, so it's barely a canon couple and remains only a fanfiction one. Even if it can be argued that it can have proper development if they remaster The Legend of Spyro, the damage has already been done, and ship doesn't deserve it, especially with these fanbrats that plague the fandom.
i had my fair share of toxicity coming from spyro x elora fans too so there is no black and white in any side. fans are cancer
There's point need to say. First, for what I can agree to say is Spyro and Cynder in The legend of Spyro series loving feels unoriginal rushed development storytelling and not having much spend to their relationship into love each other based on cutscenes plot holes. Second, Cynder loves Spyro have no right romance movement rather respective characteristics. Third, It's writers decided, not Spyro and Cynder intended real love storytelling. And lastly, fourth, does have to do their bond relationship journey? Feels short to me.

@@maverickwolf4980 Just because a shipping fandom has some toxicity doesn't mean the other can be the same thing. Two wrongs don't make a right. Besides, like Jax the Wolf said, the Spyro X Cynder fans are much greater in numbers and more toxic than the Spyro X Elora fans.
@@jaxthewolf4572 Alright, I’m just gonna say this, and please try to understand as this is really just from my experience alone so keep that in mind: Yes, there has been a lot of toxicity within the SpyroxCynder community in the past especially with the Cynder and Ember shipping wars. I can remember how Cynder fans would often portray Ember as an overly attached girlfriend just because she had a crush on Spyro in A Hero’s Tail, there’s no denying that and Ember fans have a right to be angry about it. After all, Cynder fans would get mad for those who had preferred to have Ember with Spyro instead of her (even though Cynder and Ember are from completely different universes but that's besides the point).
However, I can’t really say that SpyroxCynder fans are like that nowadays. From what I've seen a lot of toxic fans don't seem to really care about Spyro anymore and have moved on to other things and the ones that are still around have come to realize the obvious problems of their forced romance. They do recognize that the relationship was rushed and they do wish it could’ve been developed better (Legends fans in general wish the games were better). More often than not they’ll try come up with their own ideas to make their relationship more believable because to them they think there’s potential to create a romantic bond between them. You may not agree that it’s possible for Cynder to have feelings for Spyro and that’s fine. I’m not going to get angry because you don’t like the ship, you can hate on it all you want for all I care. Plus, I don't really see a lot of them bashing on characters like Ember or Elora these days either. With that said, I don't think there's anything inherently wrong with shipping the two as long as they're not being obnoxious about it and, again, there’s nothing wrong with not liking it either.
I understand you and others are mad at SpyroxCynder fans for their toxic behavior, but from what I've seen is that things have gotten better in more recent years. I don't know if you'll believe me on that or not and if you don't I understand. I just hope I'm not upsetting anyone with this comment.
I grew up with the classic trilogy so shipping Spyro with Cynder is weird for me, I never saw Spyro as someone who would have time or interest for things like these..
The only ship I accept is Spyro x Elora.
