I just listened to a little bit of his newer stuff, and "Numb" is still my favorite song by him. Little bit of Jimi Hendrix old school vibe, and the song is real: it has real emotion in the lyrics, in the singer's voice, and in the guitar and drums. It's a great song, and it's definitely worth a listen. It's been on one of my Spotify playlists for a long time.

Gary Clark Jr is a solid guitar player who I discovered on Eric Clapton's Crossroads Guitar Festival back in the day. As someone who has played guitar for a long time, I got a lot of respect for this man.
My first music I got into was blues music and nirvana . I've always loved Joe Rogan's knack for interviewing musicians; it's something that resonates deeply me. There was a time in the '90s when I was just a teen, and a major label took an interest in my music. They offered to use it, but the deal wasn't quite right. I don't want to have sour grapes Music has been my faithful companion, with thousands of tunes that have. I tried to catch a break with a label again in the late 2000s, but luck wasn't on my side. However, there was this one band that sent me an email saying they played my CD until it couldn't play anymore. That meant the world to me. Music isn't just a part of me; it is me. It's this powerful thing that I can't quite put into words. There are so many songs I need to finish, so many stories I want to tell. I got so many song ideas that my harddrive is full. Right now, my biggest dream is to find a stable place to live, away from the uncertainty of the streets. A place where I can control the temperature, create a space that's all mine, and focus on my music, my true passion.
I had a beer with Gary at Antone's in Austin Texas . I pretended it wasn't a big deal as people kept bugging him for pictures. He would come back over and keep talking to me . Such a good dude .
I had the pleasure of getting to see Gary at the Telluride Blues and Brews 2017. Was mind blowing. If im not mistaken he had a problem with one of his guitars and he went and grabbed another one in his lineup from his tech and continued into the rest of the song with a completely different guitar and still made the magic happen. It was impressive and seeing him live cemented him in my book of great blues guitarist.
I had no idea who Gary Clark Jr. was or what he does other than the guitar in the background, But I was a fan after listening to 15 minutes of this interaction with Joe. I still haven't finished the video but as soon as I do I'm looking up Gary Clark Jr. Such a humble and funny guy and talked about Joe being so great. He was just interested in everything and never once made me think he was all about himself. Got a feeling I will be a fan of his now. 😎
