Good stuff sir!! I like backwoods tuning! That's what I do best lol.... I'm gonna look at building one of those flow meters. I've known I needed one but I think I'm gonna finally do it!

Glad you’re enjoying this! The manometer is certainly not perfect or deadly accurate, but it absolutely shows what works and what doesn’t 👍

Id love to see the paint test with a spinning camshaft opening and closing the valve maybe chuck it in a drill or something idk... The manifold design would start to matter a lot more I bet

Those little spots are where ive used epoxy to fill and smooth out where there's not enough material to smooth out otherwise... I have had success with it staying intact but I think it's because I go really extreme with keying the surface and really push it in... I've seen guys use Bondo with success too idk if it lasts like 20 years but within my time frames and use duration I've not eaten any epoxy yet but I bet it would pass right through if it did break loose

On the intake side you'll want to leave it a little rough and smooth on the exhaust. You need some roughness on the intake to help atomize the fuel.

Are you into mini bikes at all?
You could have a lot of fun doing clone heads, people are afraid of hemi heads like mine because you can't just go hog wild in there.

Not really into the minibike scene. Love it, but I cant put any more squirrels in the head LOL. Did a lot of clone/212 'back yard' kart racing and figured out what makes these little boogers run! Have never even seen a hemi head in person to take a look at.

So would we need bigger jets after porting???

    • @captain_315

Most of these things are so lean from the factory due to EPA, they all normally benefit from a little more jet. As far as porting, you dont normally need to mess with jetting much. Better airflow = more 'suck' at the venturi, which = more fuel being pulled in.

I know this is an old post but on my 16hp Vanguard I bought some micro drill bits. Went one size bigger than stock. Tested and checked the plugs for signs of running rich. I ended up going 3 sizes bigger. Later I'll be adapting a slide style 30mm carb. You'll also need less restrictive exhaust.
