      My pleasure! Im hoping to create a video a little more specific to painting Ork faces in the future. I know some of the quality in this is not the best.
      If you have any other questions feel free to DM me on instagram

      Those are rookie numbers. Build an all-infantry Ork army at 2,000 points in 40k, then follow it up with a 3,000 point Fantasy Orc army!

    Really great quality video considering its your first go at it mate! I think one thing people would potentially like to see is this boy being finished, with a video on how you paint metals and a video on the clothes or something of that nature 👍

    • @QuarterPaint
      @QuarterPaint  Před 6 lety

      The airbrush is well worth it! I recommend doing research on how to properly clean/care for an airbrush
      If you can keep it clean you will rarely have trouble with clogging

    Very nice! It's much better to see tutorials in video form, than Instagram stuff!
    I have to ask - what do you use to mix paint? It looks much more effective, than using brush.

    • @QuarterPaint
      @QuarterPaint  Před 6 lety +1

      It is actually the flexible plastic basing tool from GW! I use it like a miniature pallete knife.

    Just recently discovered your channel and love your work! Could you possibly showcase how to paint the airbrush section with brushes instead? I am having a hard time learning how to dry brush, and just end up covering all of the details, or the paint gets almost a thick and too dry look.

    What do you use for your pallet? I'm currently using a plastic pallet but my paints dry fast on/in it.

    • @brodouken257
      @brodouken257 Před 4 lety

      its called a wet pallet. plenty of videos on how to make one, but the gist is in a sealable container (tupperware) put down some sponge or paper towel. soak it with water, and put some baking paper (or parchment paper) on top of it. use that as your pallet, replacing the paper to switch color pallets, keeping it sealed when not painting, and occasionally adding a few drops of water to keep it hydrated.

    Amazing work! I can’t wait for more ork videos!
    I’m doing bad moons myself, any tips on making a nice grungy yellow?
    Also have you ever used oil washes on a mini after completing for the shadow effects? I’m debating on trying it out with your skin technique but I’m afraid I’d lose all the detail to the oil wash 😅

    • @QuarterPaint
      @QuarterPaint  Před 6 lety

      Well you can get a really nice yellow by washing a cream color with the Cassandra yellow wash. You can then weather that heavily with chipping or rusting/streaking. Light colors like yellow take to those techniques the best!
      Actually I just experimented with a black oil wash. If you check out my Instagram the last giveaway mini I just painted was oil washed. It definitely darkens the mini considerably. However oil washes are nice because they take quite a while to dry so you can use mineral spirits to pull off some of the paint that might be coloring your raised details

    I finally got round to watching part 2, I'm unsurprised to see that this is amazing stuff! I have a couple of questions for you :)
    Carroburg Crimson and Athonian Camoshade, do you use them undiluted, or are they watered sown with water of medium?
    Your GW paints are in dropper bottles, do you recommend transferring to these?

    • @QuarterPaint
      @QuarterPaint  Před 6 lety

      The washes are used undiluted 90% of the time but I will thin them with medium in certain situations.
      I moved most of my GW paints to droppers, however I’m not a huge fan or I would approach it differently. Yes it prevents the possible paint loss from GW paint pots. But I used flow improved in the paint to get the paints moving to poor into the droppers. This flow improver has impeded my control of my paint consistency. I find it obviously helps keeps the paint thin. But there are some instances I need a “thicker” consistency that I can’t get. The majority of people that have switched to droppers seem to like it though

    • @richardlynch77
      @richardlynch77 Před 6 lety

      Thanks for the tips! I have a few duplicate paints, I'll test with those first to see if dropper bottles are something for me :)

    It good looking... i also seen somebody painting the orks more like undead orks so very pail... but honestly.... orks are an mass army... unless you only paint for money or you just paint for fun... you dont paint like that... or you will never start the actuall playing... if you dont play well go for it... i paint mine waagh flesh and only spend more time on charackters and elites...

    • @QuarterPaint
      @QuarterPaint  Před 5 lety

      That pale Ork video may have been mine too. I did a couple videos on pale Orks for Zatcaskagoon's channel. Yes sure, Orks are a horde army but some of us are crazy enough to keep this quality across a full army. Also these skills can be applied to a character mini if that is your focus.
      Check out my instagram: Scroll through, I think Im able to keep the quality up across all my Orks, troop or elites or HQ :

    Is that a sponge under parchment paper for your wet palate?

    • @QuarterPaint

      Its the sponge that came with the wet pallete.
      Its this one, but with a yellow sponge : www.amazon.com/Sta-Wet-Palette-Keeps-Paints-Airtight/dp/B000C18GTE/ref=asc_df_B000C18GTE/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=167125544335&hvpos=1o1&hvnetw=g&hvrand=8950404329292513953&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9004507&hvtargid=pla-314205875880&psc=1

    What paper is that on your wet palette? Looks super thin.

    • @QuarterPaint
      @QuarterPaint  Před 5 lety +1

      In the U.S. it is called parchment paper, often used for baking. It’s essentially a silicon impregnated paper, allowing the paint to sit a top it but moisture can still pass through it

    • @wthefourth5395
      @wthefourth5395 Před 5 lety

      Do you buy it in sheets or rolls? I have used it in the past but it never cooperates with me and has a tendency to curl up hardcore on me.

    • @QuarterPaint
      @QuarterPaint  Před 5 lety

      Make sure you arnt buying wax paper that is very different and won’t work the same way. But yea initially the parchment will want to curl. You want flip the paper a couple times so you are really soaking the fibers in it. I use a piece of scrap plasticard to then smooth it out and get out any air bubbles and to ensure the paper is making good contact with the sponge
